I thought that this book was a typical second chance romance. It was ok. I just found the narrator/main character to be annoying and I really struggled reading it. I think that it was an ok book, but I just wasn’t the prime audience.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, received from the publisher and author through NetGalley. However, all thoughts and views reflected are strictly my own opinions.

Josie is on her way to her office to do a presentation to a consulting company. She is the CEO of a clothing company, Revenant. On the way, a bicyclist hits her car scaring her. She pulls over to help the man only to discover that he is Will Grant, a man she knew in High School and twin brother to her best friend, Zoe back then. She helps him get to where he going as he tells her he works for a consulting company.

Arriving at work, Josie is ready to give a talk to a consulting company which her major investor has insisted she do. When the men are seated, Will comes to the door and tells her that he and his company can do a better job for her so she agrees.

The story goes back and forth to when Josie and Will knew one another in high school. For some reason, Josie and Zoe had a falling out and have never gotten their friendship back. That is a lot of what this story seems to be about. There is also a lot of what appears to be juvenile behavior in Josie’s friend, Cami’s engagement and bachelorette party. All in all, unfortunately, I found this book to be rather flighty and immature. Sorry.

Josie has spent most of her twenties building her unique fashion brand Revenant, headquartered in Austin, Texas. When her biggest investor tells her she needs to hire a consultant, the last person she expects to end up working with is Will Grant, her ex best friend’s brother and the guy she mistakenly shared a kiss with one night nine years earlier. Will and Josie are both much too busy focusing on their careers and have no interest in romance, especially with one another, and yet, somehow they still can’t seem to stay away from one another.

What I really enjoyed about this one is that both characters and their day-to-day struggles felt very relatable, particular the work-life balance struggles and the fear of burnout if you don’t slow down and take care of yourself. I also just really enjoyed the chemistry between Will and Josie. They were fun and flirty together, but also just really supportive of one another and whatever choices they made with respect to their lives, careers, etc. Not to sound cheesy, but they really were a perfect fit.

What if you were a girl boss CEO, overworked, no love life to speak of, when a man you haven’t seen in 10 years runs into your car with his bicycle? Oh, and the last time you saw him… you were making out on the beach during senior spring break and that incident resulted in your best friend, his twin sister, never speaking to you again?

The Perfect Fit is a wonderful story about deep friendships, second chances, the toxicity of social media, burnout, girl bossing to close to the sun, and finding true joy.

I will start by saying that I am a sucker for a workplace romance so I knew that I would like this one right off the bat! Josie and Will are two characters that I just want to hug and I would read a million more stories about them!

First of all, thank you NetGalley for this arc.

I thought this read was cute! It was fun and lighthearted, and a well-written second chance romance.

I also thought the realness and communication between them was refreshing, and I definitely appreciated the lack of the third-act break up. And the chemistry chemistry between Josie and Will? 👌🏻✨

Clare Gilmore writes the way I want to write! I loved her first book and found Perfect Fit to be a delightful second book! I found the characters to be wonderfully complex and lovable. There was something so comfy in watching this second chance blossom. I really enjoyed it!

Single POV, Spicy, CEO x Consultant, Work Proximity, Second Chance, Ex-Best Friend's Brother, He Falls First

The character growth alone makes this book worth reading, Josie goes through so much and the way she slowly learns to slow down and appreciate the small moments is so relatable. I wish this had been a dual POV as I was dying to get inside of Will's head as he is such a dreamy MMC.

Perfect Fit was an excellent read for me. There was something about these characters I just fell in love with and I really did enjoy this book so much. Clare Gilmore has a really easy writing style to read and I thought the way she developed these characters was great. They were equally interesting on their own as they are together. This was fun and heartwarming and I found myself unable to put it down.

Many Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

A solid 3.5 stars - Will is the definition of golden retriever and one of the most supportive book boyfriends out there. I loved seeing the juxtaposition of his support and Josie's work burnout not as a savior moment but truly as a partnership. The author wove great female friendship conversations throughout that created solid supporting characters that were there for the story rather than just the romance. The high school friendship "break-up" was a bit hard to believe that it would last so long (or devolve in the way it did based on what happened) but the author did a great job making it a learning experience for them which is so rarely done.

Perfect Fit is a book I won’t be letting go of anytime soon. From the moment I saw the cover reveal, I knew I’d be captivated, and after reading the blurb, I was certain I’d fall in love. The story did not disappoint. I had been eager to read this author’s debut for a while, and I was fortunate enough to get an ARC, which only heightened my excitement. From the first chapter, I was hooked, especially by the heartfelt quotes and emotional moments that made my heart flutter. Will Grant quickly became my new book boyfriend—he’s charming, caring, and genuinely stole my heart.

The characters and relationships in this book were everything I could ask for. Josie, the protagonist, is a strong, driven CEO who is as down-to-earth as she is successful. Her journey of navigating stress, burnout, and her passion for her work made her feel incredibly relatable. I loved how she balanced vulnerability with strength, and her growth throughout the book was inspiring. The friendships, too, were beautifully written—especially Josie’s relationship with Camila and the emotional depth she shares with her ex-best friend Zoe. The romantic relationship between Josie and Will was equally captivating, built on open communication, mutual support, and undeniable chemistry. The way Will cares for Josie, both professionally and personally, is swoon-worthy.

Overall, Perfect Fit was everything I’ve been looking for in a romance, and it has quickly become one of my favorite reads of the year. The setting had an "Intern" movie vibe, with Josie’s love for her job and her determination to make it all work despite the pressures. Will was the perfect match—professional, funny, and irresistibly attractive. What really made this book stand out was the depth of the relationship between Josie and Will. Their honest communication and unwavering support for each other made their love story feel real and grounded. This book is a must-read for romance fans, and I can’t wait to see where this author takes us next.

WILL GRANT THE MAN THAT YOU ARE

This was a fun read, but most of what I loved about it boils down to: HELLO NEW BOOK BOYFRIEND. The (ex) best friend's brother trope -- with LOTS of male pining -- is very delicious to me!!!!

Sadly, the FMC had strong "pick me" energy and it was hard to invest in her journey. I am ALL for an unlikeable female character, but Josephine just came off as "not like other girls" and it really irritated me. I loved Will's character development and journey, but not Josephine's. And personally, I just don't really buy into (or enjoy) the conflict that a woman is simply TOO busy for love. Her career means is SO important that a relationship will completely derail it. I need a more compelling and high-stakes (to high reward) reason.

I did like the banter and the pop culture references throughout:

"You were Season One Conrad Fisher. You were Olivia Rodrigo's entire Sour album, on repeat. You were Ken when Barbie took away his mojo dojo casa house."

Overall, it wasn't my favorite read, but still enjoyed Will. I mean it.

Thank you to St. Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. PERFECT FIT is out now.

(2.5 stars) Thanks, St. Martin’s Griffin, for the arc!

I have to say I expected from Claire GIlmore’s second novel, PERFECT FIT, after being a fan of her debut, LOVE INTEREST. The first book had me laughing out loud, interested in the love story, and rooting for the couple, while this had me wondering when it would be over. I didn’t DNF because I would be pulled back with my interest piqued, only to be disappointed. I finished it, but it won’t be memorable, where I still remember LOVE INTEREST from when I read it last year.

A PERFECT FIT has a strange type of insta-love in it. They already know each other, reconnect, and are suddenly hot and heavy again. Then there is all this back and forth because of her ex-best friend, his twin sister. It just wasn’t exciting. I was more interested in listening about her fashion business than her life. I honestly feel that it kept drawing me back in, and I should have just skimmed to the fashion parts with it and DNF the book.

I hope Gilmore’s next book is more entertaining, like LOVE INTEREST, because I enjoyed that one!

5 Stars!!!!!!
I didn't know what to expect with this one but I was so so so happy and loved this book. The main character, Josie, showed so much growth from being a severe workaholic who defend her self-worth by her work productivity to being able to take a break from work and enjoy life (with will grant). Such a deep story, I loved the flashbacks to the past and the relationship between Will and Josie and how it had developed. A fantastic book about the realities women face in work, love and in friendships. Would strongly suggest you pick this book up and I don't think my words can do it justice. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced reader copy :)

I tend to stay away from anything #GirlBoss but Perfect Fit from Clare Gilmore called to me and I was pleasantly surprised. I love the characters (and could really empathize with mid-trip food poisoning/flu). I absolutely loved it!

A huge thank you to St. Martin's Press | St. Martin's Griffin, NetGalley, and Clare Gilmore for the advanced copy in exchange for my review

Oh I loved loved LOVED this one. I love the fated elements of Josie and Will knowing each other from childhood and the complicated relationship due to the one very important person in common they share. I loved their chemistry and I've thought about them every day since I finished this book. Will Grant, the man that you are!!!

OHHHHH I LOVED THIS ONE!

From the cover to the story to the characters - this one was a hit. I ESPECIALLY loved the chemistry written between characters - not only romantic, but the friendships as well. I was fully invested in this story and all of the players. What a fun read.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I liked this one, but it did drag a bit in the middle. Slower paced than some romances. It had good elements, a fund story, good characters, chemistry between the main couple. Fun locations and settings, good boyfriend material.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second chance romance. Josie and Will knew each other as teenagers and their memories of a shared kiss and the fallout that ensued were not positive. They end up working together years later and their connection is still there. The characters had great chemistry and were so likeable. The writing flowed smoothly and the pacing was great. Overall a very entertaining read.

Unfortunately, I had to DNF this one as I wasn’t in the right headspace for it. It has a lot of promise, and I think it replay will be a wonderful read. I hope I can get back to it in the new year!
