I expected something more spooky, but this was a sweet and cozy and lovely story about Salem and Pax and love. I loved that the ending left off on a happy and hopeful note.

The Other Ones, by Fran Hart, was a charming read. The story felt cozy and sweet, and was an enjoyable tale. In this story, Salem, the main character, truly goes on a transformative journey where he learns more about his family, friends, and himself- with the help of some ghosts and a bundle of boy named Pax. While this story was hard to follow at times, it all was pieced together at the end, to make a fulfilling conclusion to the warm hug of a book. I definitely recommend this tale to fans of Heartstopper, Meet Cute Diary, and other similar books. With a diverse cast and a stunning plot, this book was truly a great find.

a beautiful prose on love, grief, loss, and the way your loved ones can haunt you even if they haven't been around for a while. I had thought maybe at the start that Pax would show up, but turn out to have been a ghost all along, and as I read more I thought that that would be really sad if it were true. What hit me even harder though, was that the ghosts in Sal's house were really just repeated bad dreams of his mother leaving that haunted his every night. I think Pax was what Sal needed all along. The sunshine weirdo to Sal's brooding emo who could help him through anything. And Sal's weirdo friends who were weird but loveable in their own ways, and never failed to show up for him. It was bittersweet, sad, and touching all at once.

An adorable Heartstopper-esque meets Gilmore Girls type of book! I'm always a sucker for grumpy meets sunshine types of stories, and Sal and Pax did not disappoint.

I picked this for the premise of a haunted house. With ghosts. I was looking forward to it. I felt like there were some missing important chapters. Let’s just say there was nothing spooky about this book. I liked Sal and Pax slow romance . And it was an easy reading. Just not what I expected from a haunting book. The ending left everything hopeful which I appreciated. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my ARC.
