Medical Invention Breakthroughs follows the developments of robotics in medicine to date. The author gives short bits of information regarding the scientists, physicians, and other researchers responsible for these medical breakthroughs.

Narrated by Melanie Carey, this book seemed more like a podcast than a nonfiction book about medical breakthroughs. Though the narrator did a good job of conveying the material, it was hard to follow. This book would have been better as a printed version, as seeing the robots and other aspects would have been a definite benefit.

Overall, Medical Invention Breakthroughs is much shorter than I expected, but it does provide a good jumping off point to researching more about the science explained in this book.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Audio Version of this book by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to listen to and review this book was entirely my own.

In Medical Robotics Breakthroughs by Heather E Swartz it is another short but interesting read about the robots and computers they’re making to benefit the healthcare system from a robot pharmacist to a nurse to one that even does surgeries much faster than a human can. It can be a little worrisome when we keep sing computers replace people but like with everything new I’ll wait and see what happens I found this book very interesting and again thought the narrator Melanie Kerry did a brilliant job. This is the Second book from The Edge Of Medicine series. They are books about the history of medical inventions and I cannot wait to see what they come up with next. In this series and also in medicine in general I want to thank dreamscape media and Net Galley for my free ARC copy please forgive any mistakes I am blind and dictate my review.

I love this series of cutting edge medical breakthroughs. It's so much fun to learn about things that are new or relatively new that can help people.
This one is about the use of robotics and starts with a robotic nurse. While these audiobooks are short, the narration helps make them exciting. I hope they continue to release these and update them as technology advances.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

Very quick, brief overview of robotics in the medical industry. It’s very informative and at a relatively high level to be suitable for listening to, although I think reading it would’ve been better. It was a lot shorter than I thought it was going to be.

This is a really interesting little book, with some fascinating information, with so many technological advancements that haven't made their way into general rotation in hospitals yet. Or at least not hospitals in the UK! Robot nurses are the main one that I'm really curious about, because as someone who has been in and out of hospitals the nurses have been key in making my stay bearable. They are often the ones who truly care about each patient (because they have the time allocated to them) and can make a huge difference in treatment and recovery. I would love to see the data on how these robot nurses compare.

There's also technology mentioned that is definitely in common usage, such as minute cameras used to monitor intestines, exoskeletons that help people relearn to walk, and more. Learning a little bit more detail about these technologies, and having them introduced to kids, was really interesting.

Another interesting book in this small series by Mayo Press.

"Medical Robotics Breakthroughs" by Heather E. Schwartz is
a great book with interesting information, but will soon be outdated as progress is moving so fast in this area.

Medical Robots at Work is the first section of this book. A robot nurse can help with patient care and surgeries.

Robotic exoskeletons can help people learn to walk again.(XONR) late 1960s.

DAVINCI system has helped in many surgeries using a very small precise robotic hand

Some of the info I learned:

❤️ Paro was a robotic baby harp seal for companion animal

❤️ Robot RX - started in 1990. Prescription filling robots were almost error free. 99.99% accuracy and then by 2001 it filled
45 million prescriptions without any errors.

❤️ EllieQ, an elder care companion

❤️ Hal was first pediatric robot patient. He has a pulse, temperature, facial expressions, bleed. Released in 2010

❤️ Tiny robots to deliver chemo directly to cancer cells, in 2010s

❤️ Grace - humanoid robot nurses used during pandemic, released 2021. Could talk, make expressions, and take vitals

This book has scientific spotlight interviewing real scientists who use medical robots.

Melanie Carey did an excellent job narrating this book.

With thanks to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and Mayo Clinic Press for providing this audiobook so I could make this honest review.
