Second chance romance! I love the trope and enjoyed the story between firefighter Reid and hairdresser Ashlynn. They knew each other from the tenth grade and Ashlynn hasn't left her home town and has made a relatively successful career at home in Sweetbriar Ridge. Shit quickly hits the fan at work and she loses her job. At the same time Reid has moved back to Sweetbriar to take up an open position at the fire station. The two reconnect through mutual friends, throw in a little forced proximity when he moves into an apartment above Ashlynn and we have a rekindled flame! It's not a slow burn. There's some weird family drama that I think was unnecessary- there are other ways for character development other than a dramatic backstory. There were some good funny moments mixed with a bit of mystery and suspense.

I listened to the audiobook and I HATED the narrator's voice for all of the men. She was fine reading women, but the men were flat and just terrible.

I probably would have liked the book more if I had read it or if there was a different narrator or if she used a different tone. Overall I still enjoyed it. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

The Donovan family has stolen my heart, but probably not as much as the Montgomery family, which was also written by Samantha Chase. I love how she is able to bring these characters to life and make you really feel a connection to them. In this story we follow Ashlynn and Reid as they get a second chance at a relationship. They have a bit of an embarrassing history from high school, but Reid is determined to change that once he meets up with Ashlynn again. Reid is moving back to his hometown to further his career as a firefighter. Meanwhile, Ashlynn is being accused of arson against her previous job. They both have their own internal struggles that cause this situation to be more stressful, but as always we get our HEA in the end!

Ashlynn is such a fun character. She is very sassy and brings a lot of humor to the story. Reid is also hilarious himself, as shown by his public showdown to win back Ashlynn (I won't spoil the scene for you). They both instantly connect once they have gotten past their high school drama and they are so fun together. I loved the dynamic of Ashlynn's family and how close everyone is and how they welcome Reid in. I think that's a big aspect of Samantha Chase's stories and it makes you feel like you're at home with her characters and part of a big family.
If you like small town romances, second chance love stories, and frenemies to lovers this book is for you!

I listened to this book and the narrator that was chosen did an amazing job. I highly recommend listening if you have a chance to do so, having someone narrate a story sometimes just makes it so much better.

Thank you to Netgalley, Samantha Chase, and Dreamscape Media for and advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!!

This is only the second book I’ve read by this author so I am still really new to her book, but so far I am really enjoying her work!

This book is Ashlynn & Reid’s book and it will capture your heart, just like it did mine!

Ashlynn isn’t having much luck when she loses her job at the only salon in the small town she lives in and to make it worse, she flashes the new firefighter in town, Reid… and this wasn’t the first time! The thing is, Ashlynn and Reid met in high school but they lost contact after Reid left town now he is back and they crossed paths again at their best friend’s engagement party years later… and Reid is about to let Ashlynn slip away again. He wants to prove to her that he is the man for her and always has been and that he has had feelings for her since high school. Unfortunately, things are far from perfect when Ashlynn finds herself as a suspect of arson and Reid’s dream job hangs in the balance. Will they be able to overcome this drama and these obstacles and finally find their happily ever after?

Ashlynn is one of a kind. She’s as sassy as they come, a real firecracker. She’s outspoken and stubborn and doesn’t have a problem telling people how she feels and she tends to hold a grudge.

Reid was swoony and such a sweetheart. He’s a hard worker. Even though Reid moved around a lot, he has always felt like Sweetbriar Ridge was his home and now he is back he has a plan to climb the ladder at the fire station of Sweetbriar Ridge.

All in all, this book was fantastic! The connection and chemistry between Reid and Ashlynn was undeniable. I really liked these two! They were both very relatable characters with very relatable problems that they had to overcome. This love story had a bit of everything… drama, emotion, love and humour. I was laughing throughout the book! Absolutely loved it!

5 STARS!

I LOVE small town romances, and this one did not disappoint. Throw in a little bit of drama in the form of a fire and gossip and Ashlynn has got herself into quite the predicament. Reid, the new firefighter in town, and Ashlynn's new boyfriend, tries to do what is best, but at the ill advice of his friend, it doesn't turn out as he hoped. Some of the things that didn't really make sense to me in this book is the basis of Ashlynn's relationship issues. I feel like we didn't get a well rounded explanation of her parents divorce, and the whole time, I thought her parents recently got divorced, but later in the book, it said that they did when Ashlyn was 5... I didn't understand why some of the sisters were still taking it so hard, especially since they were adults now and had a better understanding of how relationships work, and had the opportunity to get therapy for their issues. I am glad that there was some reconnection with their dad, so they were no longer estranged. #TeasingYou #NetGalley

4 Star Review of Teasing You (The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge #2) by Samantha Chase

eBook/Audio:
This is Ashlynn Donovan and firefighter Reid Baylor‘s story and it was a good addition to the series. I had a hard time relating to Ashlynn, she seemed so immature and was not easy to like for a part of this book, but she grew on me.
For Reid, Ashlynn was the one who got away but for her he was the man who humiliated her in high school. He had his work cut out for him in convincing her to give him a chance.
Ashlynn’s life is spiralling out of control after losing her job. Now she is suspected of burning down her old workplace and this creates complications for Reid since he is the newest addition to Sweetbriar Ridge’s fire department.
Can Reid help Ashlynn prove her innocence or will it destroy his career in the t. process? Once click and find out.
Carly Robbins narrates Teasing you and did a good job. However, I would love it a man narrated the male characters. She brought the angst, romance, drama and passion to the characters and did justice to the story that Ms. Chase wove. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Thanks to @netgalley and to Dreamscap Media for the chance to review Teasing You by Samantha Chase, narrated by Carly Robins. I am a huge fan of Samantha Chase's books, and this one did not disappoint! This was a small town, second-chance romance between firefighter Reid and small-town Sweetbriar Ridge girl Ashlynn. Ashlynn's life is a bit messy at the moment, with the loss of a job and being suspected for arson at her former employer's hair salon. A firefighter and suspected arsonist? Reid's future is on the line if he sticks with Ashlynn.

It seemed like the relationship between Reid and Ashlynn happened very quickly. There was some spice, but it was mostly sweet.

Carly Robins did an excellent job narrating the dual POVs!

If you enjoy reading about love in small towns and second chances, then this book is perfect for you. Ashlynn and Reid have known each other since they were in school, but Reid moved away and has now returned. I don't want to spoil the story for you, but I enjoyed how they reconnected and got a second chance at love. The narrator did an excellent job on the audiobook, and I loved the story. This is my second time listening to an audiobook by Samantha Chase, and I can't wait for the next one. The story is cute and heartwarming, and I highly recommend it.

Loved this title. It wasn't the strongest enemies to lovers trope, but I enjoyed the second chances aspects of it. It was good to read about a small community and I'd love to visit the coffee shop and try a brownie! I see lots of opportunity for spin-offs and look forward to more!

Book 2 in the The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge #2 series. Would work as a stand alone, but recommend reading other books in the connected series.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this one. I liked both Ashlynn and Reid, as well as their relationship. Then the fire happened and the plot got utterly ridiculous. The basics of the plot are feasible, but the details are not. I don't want to go into details due to spoilers, but if this were the real world, there would be dozens of lawsuits. It is just so very wrong.

Needless to say, what started off great quickly fell apart for me. I understand I am reading fiction and I always suspend belief when things are plausible, even if unlikely. These facts were not plausible. Anyone who has watched an episode of Dateline should recognize this.

Carly Robins narrates the audiobook and does good as usual.

I received an advance audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

I listened to this duel POV book on audio. The single narrator did throw me off at times especially if I stopped mid chapter and started up again. The story itself is a stand alone, I did not read the first book in the series and I don’t think it impacted my understanding of the story.

This story follows Ashlynn and Reid. Ashlynn is fired from her job at the local hair salon after she was rude to a customer and Reid is back pursuing a career in fire fighting - the growing town presents more opportunity for him than his old station. I did have trouble connecting with the FMC after she was fired because while in the after math she wasn’t treated fairly, she was in the wrong at the time of the firing. When the salon burns down, Ashlynn is accused by the salon owner. And given Reid’s career, he’s forced to make a decision between Ashlynn and his job. The real truth behind the fire is clear from the beginning so there’s no real surprise reveal to it’s origin - I was hoping that the clues were so obvious that I would be wrong and surprised. Ashlynn and Reid’s relationship is pretty insta-love considering their not great relationship in the past. Spice in this story is limited to kissing and description of foreplay but fade to black after that.

Filled with second chances and overcoming obstacles, this addition to the Sweetbriar Ridge series is another great audiobook from Samantha Chase. Ashlynn and Reid are an unlikely pair that might have huge hurdles to overcome but with every step they take the true meaning of love shines through. With wonderful characters and a storyline that will tug on your anxiety as well as your heartstrings, this will be an audiobook that will end with a smile on your face.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio of this book.

We’re dropped into the story when our heroine, Ashlynn, has just turned her client’s hair blue. She’s immediately fired, and her “bad blood” with her former boss and workplace leads her to be the prime suspect of arson at said hair salon. Her past flame, Reid, returns to town when a spot on the firefighting squad opens up. She’s not too happy to see him, especially when he ends up moving into her apartment building…to the apartment directly above her. They start dating again, and while they both think that her committing arson is bogus and would never happen, Reid dedication to his new position is called into question, and here lies our third act conflict.

I didn’t feel strongly about either character. Ashlynn has a backbone and sticks up for herself, and she’s a bit snarky. I do LOVE her family though, and would continue on in the series to read their stories. Reid was fine, but I honestly wouldn’t be able to describe him at all.

The narrator, Carly Robbins, did an excellent job as always. She’s so easy to listen to, even her male voices. I will say that I would have preferred this so much more if there had also been a male narrator.

I received this audiobook through Netgalley for my honest opinion.

I listened to the audiobook Teasing You by Samantha Chase and I really enjoyed the narration. I thought the narrator did a good job with changing her tone for each character and she didn't sound monotone, especially for the male characters. I was able to understand her words and she spoke very clearly. She did a great job!

Teasing You by Samantha Chase was a really cute book. I was able to finish it in one day, if interested me and grabbed my attention that much. This book is about Ashlynn Donovan and Reid Baylor. These two were once classmates until Reid moved away. Years later, Reid returns as a firefighter, just as Ashlynn loses her job and is upset. Remembering how Reid embarrassed her years ago, Ashlynn is weary of him, but as time goes on they prove that they can be friends and move on to being in a relationship. However, when Ashlynn is blamed for setting her former employers business on fire, things begin to get complicated and both of them have to look at the issues that lie between them and within themselves.

I did think this was a very cute book. I loved the family dynamics among the Donovan family. Ashlynn's older sister, brother and twin were all great and I loved how they helped her but they also made sure to call her out when she was wrong. I liked Ashlynn because in a way, she reminded me of myself. She is quick to get angry and takes things to heart. She has abandonment issues and I liked that she didn't immediately cave and go see Reid when he left her and just text her. I liked Reid at the beginning and at the end but not in the middle. I felt like he should have been up front with Ashlynn and told her what was going through his head instead of keeping it bottled up and leaving. I did like their relationship and I really enjoyed listening to the epilogue and hearing how they got there happily ever after.

Overall, I would recommend. It's a pretty clean book, there is cursing, but there isn't a ton of spice.

I was really surprised at how entertaining this title was. I liked the narrator so much. She did a great job convincing me of each character’s role. I was invested in the story right away. I look forward to the other books in the series. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Ashlynn Donovan’s life goes from one disaster to another. She gets fired from her job with no prospects and she unknowingly flashes the new firefighter in town. Turns out this is not her first time flashing him.

Reid Baylor returns to the one place that he ever felt a connection as a firefightet in Sweetbriar Ridge. Things get even better when he re-connects with the girl he never forgot. Reminding Ashlynn of their first embarrassing meeting starts out rocky. But Reid is determined to prove that they are right for each other.

Things are going great and then Ashlynn is suspected of arson for the fire at her former workplace, It appears that Reid’s job is in jeopardy as well as their relationship.

I couldn't wait for the next story in the Donovan series. Samantha Chase's books don't usually have a lot of heat, but this one had a little bit more than I remember and I loved it! Ashlynn and Reid couldn't seem to keep their hands off of each other.

I love Ashlynn's family and how they all show up throughout the series. Like so many of Ms. Chase's series, you get to know and love each family member and then see them throughout the series which I think is so great. Reid and Ashlynn had kind of enemies to lovers type thing going on although I don't think Reid was ever her enemy, Ashlynn just made him the enemy.

I liked the story and I liked that Reid and Ashlynn worked through some issues to find their way to each other.

The narrator did a good job with the story. I do wish there would be a guy narrator on some of Ms. Chase's book to bring the men to life, but she did a good job.

Teasing You by Samantha Chase is a good, funny, light story. The 2nd in the Donovan Series. I want to start this review by saying, I did not read the first book. I don't think that is a MUST, but it might give more depth to some of the characters and story lines that are included in this book as the 2nd in the series.

The story of Ashlynn and Reid is a sweet story with lots of twists and turns. They have a history from HS, and Reid who had moved away from the area is now back. There were a few parts of the story that seemed a bit awkward, as in, not really needed in the story. For instance, the family issues felt out of place. This may be because it's a continued line from the first book, which I did not read.

I listened to the audiobook version and that absolutely had influence on my 3 stars rating. The narration just didn't do it for me. I kept thinking that if there were different narrators, the story might have had a better impact. Carly Robins is the narrator on this one., and it wasn't that she didn't do a good job, it just felt like the heart of the story wasn't coming through as well. To me, it fell very flat

Overall, it would be a great easy, lighthearted, happy ending story to read at the pool or beach.

A big thank you to Samantha Chase, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing this audiobook to listen to in exchange for a review. As a voracious reader/listener, I am thankful to chance to read/listen and share my thoughts.

I am so in love with the Donovans of Sweetbriar Ridge series, and I absolutely adored Ashlynn and Reid's endearing second chance romance! Things aren't going well for Ashlynn, first she loses her job, then she accidently flashes Reid, again. Reid's family traveled alot, but his time in Sweetbriar Ridge has made it feel like home. Now he is a firefighter and has joined the force here. When he runs into Ashlynn, his teen attraction comes right back. He didn't make a great impression the first few times he saw her, but is determined to redeem himself. Ashlynn finally realized she was not fair to Reid, and making amends, accepted a date with him. Their mutual admiration, and attraction made their chemistry explode. Everything was going great for them as, Ashlynn decided to open her own hair salon, and Reid was settling in to a career he loved. But when someone who has it out for Ashlynn causes trouble, soon both their dreams and their love is at risk. This delightful story is moving and heartfelt, and I fell so hard for Ashlynn and Reid. I loved Ashlynn's growth, learning from past mistakes, making her stronger and more confident, and Reid was so sweet, thoughtful, protective and swoony! I loved how they connected, and learned to fight for their forever love. It was also fun seeing all their family and friends who continue to add so much heart to this story.
Carly Robins brought this story to life so beautifully. She did a terrific job capturing each characters personality, and I love the emotion, and passion she brought to her performance. She had me completely invested in these characters and their story. I really enjoyed listening to this sweet, witty, and steamy romance!

I loved the author’s series, the Donovans of Laurel Bay and this spinoff, which belongs to estranged Dan Donovan’s children, is very promising.
In this latest addition, Ashlynn Donovan gets her story. Ashlynn is a talented hairstylist, but when her short temper leaves her without a job and no other location to work, she is unsure what is in store in her future.
To make matters worse, firefighter Reid Baylor, the boy who embarrassed her in HS, is back in town. Things get heated when Ashlynn once again ends up flashing him. But that mishap leads to some happy times between them as they spend time together and feelings develop.
It all changes when a fire occurs in her previous place of employment and she is accused of committing arson. Reid finds himself in a bind. Does he stay and support her even if he could lose his job by siding with her, or does he turn his back to her and keeps his job and his future in the fire department while losing the girl?
As feelings intensify so do the accusations. Will Ashlynn be found innocent? Will Reid realize his mistakes and try to get Ashlynn back or will it be too late?
The story was entertaining and the characters likable. The promise of future stories has this listener looking forward to them.
Carly Robins does a good job with the narration of the various voices.
I was entrusted a copy of hits audiobook by Netgalley and Dreamscape. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
