Thank you Ballantine and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book felt too tropey for me and a bit cliche. However, I believed that sisterhood and fierce family emotions definitely were represented well. It’s messy, and that’s what I liked about it. Nothing was, or is, perfect.

As one of three girls, I know that a sister bond is unlike any other. I know this book is not for everyone, as it def falls more into the literary fiction side of things. It's not plot-focused, but it was easy for me to find the "human" in each character--whether that be for better or for worse. The characters felt real and layered, and I really appreciated Mellors' writing.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors. This evocative and intimate novel beautifully explores friendship, grief, and healing. Mellors’ lyrical prose and deeply honest characters create a moving story that resonates with emotional truth. The nuanced portrayal of relationships and personal growth makes this a poignant and unforgettable read.

I cannot, in good favor, rate a book highly that mentions Israel. While I love and want to read Coco Mellors books, in this state with what’s going on with Palestine, I choose to stand in solidarity with them than read this novel.

The Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors tells the story of three sisters who are mourning the death of their sister. With one sister deceased the other three must face their challenges and continue their lives . The interaction between the sisters is very realistic and many serious issues are addressed. This is all accomplished while maintaining the love the sisters have for each other. I would definitely recommend this novel ! Thank you to NetGalley, Coco Mellors , and Ballantine publishing for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was incredible story of sisterhood! I have an older brother than I was not super close to growing up because of the age difference but still felt connected to this story and the characters in it.

Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors
Rating: 3/5
Blue Sisters follows the disconnected lives of three sisters—Avery, Bonnie, and Lucky—in the wake of their fourth sister's death. Still reeling from the loss of their golden sibling, the sisters are scattered across the globe and grappling with grief in wildly different ways: self-destruction, ambition, and addiction. What unfolds is a messy, sprawling portrait of a family pulled apart by trauma and trying, in their own flawed ways, to find their way back to one another.
Mellors’ dialogue is sharp, her characters wounded and vivid. At its best, Blue Sisters is emotionally raw and compulsively readable, with moments that hit like a punch to the gut. There are some standout sections—particularly those that dive into each sister’s individual world—that feel honest and gripping.
That said, the novel’s ambition occasionally works against it. With multiple POVs, locations, and timelines, the narrative can feel chaotic at times. Not every storyline lands with the same impact, and some plot turns veer into melodrama. The pacing lags in places, and while the writing is strong, it sometimes leans a little too hard into its own cleverness.
Still, there’s a lot to admire here. Mellors captures the thorny, competitive, loyal nature of sisterhood with nuance and heart. If you enjoy messy family sagas with a blend of grit and glamour, then this one may be worth the read.
Thank you to @netgalley and @ballantinebooks for the digital ARC!

I love Coco Mellors and I love a sister story. This story explores the intricacies of familial relationships, while tackling the all-encompassing nature of grief.

Loved this book. The family dynamic was so interesting and each character’s individual complicated backstories made them feel very real. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

While the characters in this book were a bit too "on the nose" for me, the story clipped along and sparked curiosity in me to see how things would turn out with each sister. Family can be both supportive and complex and usually a bit of both that ebbs and flows and this book did a good job of describing that.

3.5 stars. Sweet if not a bit long winded and cheesy in some spots. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this advance copy.

Beautiful writing as always. Every sentence feels intentional and the characters feel so real like I know them in real life. As a dysfunctional family of 3 sisters myself I really related to these characters and definitely found my eyes willing up and years rolling down my face. It's a captivating and emotional read that I will always recommend.

The remaining Blue sisters struggle through loss, guilt and addictions.
Mellors prose is flawless. A very well written read.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC

Lush, messy, and full of feeling. Blue Sisters is a beautifully chaotic portrait of three sisters reeling from grief and history. The writing is rich and cinematic, with characters that stay with you.
Coco Mellors captures the intensity of sibling bonds—how they break, heal, and hold. It’s sexy, sad, and deeply alive. I devoured it.

Blue Sisters
Coco Mellors | ⭐⭐⭐💫 | When grief becomes a family affair
Three estranged sisters - Avery the lawyer, Bonnie the boxer, Lucky the model - return to their childhood New York apartment after their beloved fourth sister Nicky's death. Each is drowning in their own version of grief across different cities, battling addiction and trying to figure out how to exist without the person who held them together.
Vibes We Are Tracking:
💔 Messy grief processing
✈️ Sisters scattered across continents
🏠 Childhood home as emotional battleground
💊 Addiction as family inheritance
🤝 Love that survives everything
What got me was how brutally honest Mellors is about sister dynamics - that fierce protection mixed with the ability to destroy each other. The writing flows beautifully, though at times (and maybe because I was going through personal things at the time) it felt sluggish. I almost put it down around 70% because the sadness felt overwhelming, but I'm glad I pushed through.
If you have sisters or understand complicated family love, this one will wreck you in the best way.

Blue Sisters really surprised me. I went in expecting a sad family story, but what I got was so much more layered, sharp, and emotionally real. Coco Mellors has this way of writing that makes everything feel raw but still beautiful like the kind of grief and love you don’t have neat words for. I found myself highlighting lines and just sitting with them. It’s not a book that shouts but it quietly guts you. The characters felt messy and human in ways that didn’t feel forced, just true. I finished it and felt like I needed to lie down for a while… in a good way.

3.5/5 ⭐️ the pacing felt slow at times and I didn’t find myself wanting to binge the story. I found the ending for each sister predictable and in the end just found myself feeling meh about everything
Thank you NetGalley for a complementary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Blue Sisters is all about messy, beautiful sisterhood and the long shadow grief can cast. When Avery, Bonnie, and Lucky gather in New York a year after their younger sister’s overdose, what starts as a reunion spirals into an emotional reckoning. Each sister’s life—Avery the high-powered lawyer in London, Bonnie the tough-as-nails bouncer in L.A., and Lucky the model spiraling in Paris—reflects how loss can twist our coping into addiction, secrets, and self-sabotage

Decent book. Took me a while to get through due to the long chapters and slow going story progression. I'm glad I stuck it out as I enjoyed the last bit

Avery, Bonnie, and Lucky are three sisters that used to be four. A year ago they lost Nicky, the sister that bound them all together. Since her death they have all been untethered and spread out all over the world wrapped up in their grief. When they get word that there parents are going to sell the apartment they grew up in and Nicky had remained in, they have to decide how to proceed…in more ways than one.
I didn’t expect to love this book like I did. If you have a sister, know a sister, love a sister, this book is for you. If you know and addict, are and addict or love and an addict, this book is for you. The exploration that takes place in this book is insane I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.
