Frankie and the Beastly Bog Song is a fun graphic novel perfect for young readers. We follow Frankie and her mom into the woods to research scary critters. Frankie overcomes her fears and learns lessons on patience and being brave. The illustrations are colorful, and I really enjoyed the art style.

4.5 Very well-designed story and artwork. Short but sweet with a few life lessons just from these pages. The character design is amazing, I can imagine the characters as collectible figurines already. The humor is fantastic and goes well with the manga/anime style of the facial expressions that I love. Great conclusion for this episode. Just wished it was a longer story. It's a comic book more than a full graphic novel. I am assuming there will be more episodes. Great for young readers and up.

This was a really fun and sweet book about Frankie and her mother going on a trip to research! I read the first book about Frankie a few years ago and enjoyed it, but I think I enjoyed this one a little bit more! Loved seeing the relationship between them, the focus on research and overcoming our fears and reflecting on them!

Always want more Frankie!

Captivating plot that keeps you on your toes. Strong character development that is tied in with an important lesson of being brave vs being fearless. Intriguing character dynamics. Lively and wonderful illustrations. Diverse set of characters that leave you wanting more. Spunky duo of mother and daughter. Easy-to-understand dialogue along with a cordial narration. Overall, a great read.

Frankie is excited to go on an scientific adventure with her mom into the Beastly Bog. They get a cabin, and Frankie promises that she will never be afraid. But she's immediately confronted by a giant orb spider, and her resolve dies. But Frankie is nothing if not determined, so she sets out to prove she isn't afraid, for why would her mom want a research partner who's a scaredy fairy?

While not as brilliant as book one, this book has a special place among all the kiddos who have ever been told that liking lizards and worms and spiders is too weird. Frankie's personal growth in this book is heartwarming, and the family trust she and her mother share is sweet. I always love a book where the spider turns out to be the good guy, and I hope this series will continue undaunted.

Our main character Frankie wants to be fearless just like her mom - but that's hard when everything is so scary! They go on a research trip to scope out bugs and animals in the wild. Frankie confronts her fears more than once. This is a lovely story of confronting fears and discovering how brave you can be. Very fun and enjoyable!

TLDR: Super adorable and cute with a fab message behind it - worth the read for any and all ages!

This is my first time reading and seeing anything from Caitlin Rose Boyle and I've fallen in love!

The colours and artwork are so vibrant and bubbly which suits the story and characters so well. It's a very short and sweet story but I loved the little bits of animals facts throughout (as an animal behavourist myself). If I could add one thing, it would be that I wish there was a bit more facts on the animals we see, but obviously I know that the target audience isn't me.

I plan to buy a physcial copy when this releases and grab the first one in this series too, can't wait!

This is adorable! Frankie Fairy is determined to be as brave as her mom during their summer research trip in the wilderness. It only things, like huge bugs and noises at nighttime, would stop being so scary! Determined to conquer her fear Frankie sets out on her own and learns a bit lesson about bravery. this book is so sweet. Frankie and her mom are delightful and the art is so vivid and capturing. An amazing early graphic novel for kids to fall in love with!

So so cool. Its a light read, a good adventure story and has a heartwarming ending. Love the mother and daughter dynamic that goes through an adventure and how it shows the meaning of bravery and mother's love. I'm a parent and hits me on my heart. Great book for all ages.

What a delightful read!

As a lover of graphic novels, especially children’s ones, I was enchanted by this story!

The story was heartwarming and inspiring, teaching us that bravery is about doing what needs to be done when we are afraid, not about not being scared of anything. The story is fun, adventurous, and perfect for children and adults alike!

The artwork is also top-notch. I adore Caitlin Rose Boyle's art style; the colors are perfect! These characters and creatures are unique and quirky, and I loved the emphasis on our natural world.

Overall, I highly recommend this one to all! It is most certainly a graphic novel I will reread time and time, and I am excited to share it with my kiddo, who I feel will benefit significantly from the story’s main theme of bravery.

Frankie and her mother are in for another adventure together. This time, it's a camping trip, and Frankie wants to be fearless like her mom. From the spider web, she gets trapped in the glowing fireflies; Frankie tries her best to support her mom's research. But during the night, Frankie hears a ghostly song and follows it. What does she see?
Frankie and her mom are faeries, and they want to know all there is to the local monsters. On a research mission, her mom takes her to a campground to do their studying. I enjoyed how determined Frankie is, wanting to please her mother for science. As she has fun with the other critters, Frankie tries to come to terms with how scary they look. It's a fun graphic novel read; I can't wait for the next installment!

What a way to convince the younger ones to share with their parents/guardians what they are afraid of.

Frankie and her scientist mom explores the outside world as that’s what scientists and their research assistants do! But things do not turn out as easy as planned. Things get scary and the research gets rough. The mom tells her she also gets super afraid at times and it’s okay to share about our fears.

Such a good story!

The characters are so lovely, lively and amazing! The illustrations are awesome and super creative.

This short comic/graphic novel aimed at young readers was beautifully written!

The artwork of Frankie And The Beastly Bog Song was truly stunning - full of vibrant and engaging pictures that draw you in and keep you captivated with every tiny detail.

This book follows the story of Frankie Fairy, her mum, and trusty sidekick pet Tuna, as they visit the bog for the summer to carry out scientific research on the different species of beasties that live there.

The plot serves as a little educational field trip in the form of a comic, but also teaches great life skills too. It was a lovely lesson learnt between mum and daughter fairy, that they can share moments and brave anything in the world (and the beastly bog!) together.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, and would like to thank NetGalley and Oni Press for the opportunity to read and review it so early before release.

I cannot wait to see more of Caitlyn's work, and will definitely be adding this to mine and my daughters collection upon it's release!

I honestly loved everything about this short but amazing graphic novel.

It’s summer vacation and Frankie is going to spend it with her mom and Tuna, at a cabin near a stinky bog. They’re on a research trip and Frankie is happy to be the assistant of her awesome scientist mom, who is her hero!

But Frankie is afraid she will never be as brave as her mom.. So she decides to sneak out at night when she hears a song coming from outside but she gets scared and ends up being disappointed in herself and very tired on their trip the next day.

But when Tuna falls into a hole and when Frankie decides to go out again the next night, she discovers it’s okay to be scared! Her mom is too and Frankie can learn how to be brave, step by step. And it turns out, not all things are as scary as they seem! But some are…

I loved looking at and learning about all the creepy and fascinating monsters in this book and I can’t wait to read more about Frankie and her adventures!
