I was immediately drawn into this book from the prologue. Eris, the goddess of the underworld, visits Earth once a year to experience what it’s like to inhabit a human body. She chooses the same human every year, and never stays more than one day, until one year she has a bit of a different experience and decides that she doesn’t want to leave…

This was the perfect blend of horror, comedy, romance, and sci-fi. There were some parts where the dialogue honestly sounded like I was reading a different book, like it didn’t seem to match with what I knew about the characters, and some scenes kind of felt like they just came out of nowhere. There’s some time jumps that were a little bit confusing because I couldn’t remember what the time period was from the previous chapter, but I just went back and looked, so, not a huge deal.

Overall, I really enjoyed Eris, and I hope there is a sequel, because it ended on quite the cliffhanger, and I need to know what happens!

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing an ARC in exchange for my review!

A story about love and loneliness told through moments of heart break, laugh out loud humor, and woah where did that come from horror.

Eris follows Ami, who is your typical late blooming young adult in Austin. She works as a barista and is trying to apply for grad school. Very typical if you ignore that she can control ghosts, see their memories, and heal from any mortal wound. Very typical. Ami finds herself at the center of a conspiracy of maybe the most inept cult to every come from Central Texas. This cult thinks she is Eris, goddess of the Underworld and the reason the ghosts have been unleashed in the realm of the living. Ami has to come to terms with who she is, and who she isn't, in order to set the world right again.

This was such a fun read. The author was able to weave in these laugh out loud moments and then seamlessly cut scene to absolute blood baths of gore, murder, and mayhem. Ami felt so real and her struggle of figuring out what she wants and how much of herself she's willing to sacrifice for the greater good is something I think a lot of people will resonate with. Part of me wishes we got more Ami and Kaleb moments but I understand why we didn't. The last act of the book really ramped up the pacing and it felt like a sprint to the finish. I definitely recommend this book to horror fans or those looking to dip their toes into horror.

This book was a fantastic take on the spectral genre. I absolutely loved it and got sucked in from the very beginning.

This book was incredible! The details and imagery were so insane! I don't know if a book has ever given me so many jump scares! I recommend this to anyone who likes a chill thriller.

I definitely picked this one out for the cover, and I was not disappointed. There's A LOT going on within these pages and I am curious to see where things go in the next books.

Eris is the goddess of the Underworld who starts spending some time in the human world, and decides to stay. Years later, Ami is struggling with her life, her past, and then finds herself being called a false prophet and a cult tries to sacrifice her...and it ends up being led by her childhood best friend and crush Kaleb.

This was a wild ride. So much is happening in Ami's life, and Eris becomes clearer as we go as well. It's complicated, full of both personal and world building mythology, and way, way more bloody than I was expecting. It doesn't feel quite right to call this horror, its ultimately a supernatural story. I enjoyed the journey.

This is a weird little book. I am so grateful I was chosen to read it. Thank you for the ARC. I love the concept and the setting. It really had me thinking.
I am not sure I loved the book but it was an okay strange book that got me thinking. That is enough for me.

This book was nicely paced but the dialogue felt forced at times and parts of the plot were definitely rushed. However, I love the ghost aspect of the story- it was a unique one to read! I felt like this could've been longer to really flesh out some plot points and build the world a little more.

Eris is a book about what happens when spirits can inhabit human bodies and stick around awhile. Which the concept itself is very interesting. However for me the execution wasn’t what I was looking for.
I really enjoyed all the parts from Eris’s point of view but everywhere else got jumbled and rushed. Even the dialogue at times sounded off and not how I felt people actually talk. The beginning had a nice pace of building and finding empathy with Eris—but after I felt like I had no time to get to know anyone or their motivations, it read really flat. It just took you from one scene to the next, faster and faster.
I think this book could stand to be longer to give it more time to flesh out the story line.

This was so interesting! I’ve not read anything with this premise before and the story of Ami & Kaleb/Eris & Adam was intriguing from the start. The description of ghosts and the underworld was also really cool, I liked how ghosts were embedded into everyday life and made to seem normal. A lot of the side characters lacked development, and some plot points were rushed, however it was still an incredibly intriguing read. Easy writing and a fun and thrilling plot.
