⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pure joy in book form!

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center completely stole my heart. 💖 It’s everything I want in a rom-com: sparkling banter, real emotional depth, and characters you can't help but cheer for.

I loved how it wasn’t just about falling in love—it was about believing in yourself, chasing your dreams, and letting joy lead the way. ✨ The chemistry between the leads was absolute perfection (the slow build had me kicking my feet!) and every moment felt like a love letter to the rom-com genre itself. 🎬💘

If you’re looking for a feel-good, life-affirming story that leaves you smiling long after the last page, The Rom-Commers is a must-read. 📚💫

Once again, a Katherine Center book that I absolutely loved. Every time I read one of her books I feel like “this is it, this one is my favorite and it will never be topped”. And then I read the next one and I realize I was wrong. Her books get better and better and I find the characters to be so relatable and hilarious. Sometimes they’re a little too perfect with their dialogue but it’s fiction right? It’s ok that they always say something witty and they’re always ready with a great comeback.

I also loved the narrators for this book. While they’re voices I’ve heard before, I feel like both narrators really brought the characters to life. I never find myself confused or thinking “no which character is this” because the voices are familiar.

Anyway, I loved this book. I’d definitely recommend the audiobook if you have that option but since I switched between the e-book and audio, I can confidently say both are excellent.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an audio-ARC of The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center.
I'm not a huge fan of romantic comedies, but I'll read anything Katherine Center writes. This book did not disappoint! I recommend her books to anyone looking for a romcom!

Another heartwarming and humorous novel from Center. Everything she writes makes my heart feel easy for the hours that I’m in her pages.

I absolutely loved this book. I would give it a 4.5, because a 5 star book a rarity for me, but since I would rather round up than down, this is getting 5 stars from me.

Charlie and Emma both have issues, but because of the situation they have been thrown into by their friend/agent Logan they end up seeing all parts of each other and fall in love. I did not see some of the small twists that happened in this book.

This was my first Katherine Center book and I will definitely be looking into more of her books because I really enjoyed the way that she wrote this story. I enjoyed the audio narration as well. I did feel like the voices for Charlie and Emma’s dad were a bit too similar for myself, but they didn’t really have any scenes together.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book and I fell in love with Katherine Center’s writing. I will definitely be reading more of her books.

I did enjoy this book but it was not my favorite. I did have to force myself to finish. The characters were likable but I felt like it was too predictable to me.

An aspiring screenwriter who has been acting as the sole caretaker for her father gets the chance of a lifetime whenever she’s offered the opportunity to re-write a script for one of her heroes. But is it worth leaving home and her father when the famous screenwriter she’s so excited to meet says he doesn’t want her there, doesn’t even care about romantic comedies or “love,” and that he only even took on the script to get one he thinks “matters” the green light?

This Rom-Com about the love of Rom-Coms really hit the mark for me. The Rom-Commers felt like one I would have watched growing up with timeless banter, flawed characters, humor and a grumpy - sunshine romance.

I absolutely LOVED this one. I'm not sure if it was a "right book right time" situation, but I ate it up! Katherine Center will continue to be an auto-read author for me!

Katherine Center and Patti Murin are the romance audiobook equivalence of a match made in heaven! Patti takes an already amazing book even better with outstanding narration.

This book is for all lovers of the romance genre! I
It felt like a love letter to the genre.

A really fun rom com. I loved all of the characters and the plot was good. I don't really have many comments about this one besides that I liked it. Will definitely be reading her next one! I was here for the vibes and the vibes were great.

Emma wants to be a screenwriter but family circumstances have kept her in Houston as the primary caregiver for her Dad. When an unexpected opportunity arises for Emma to co-author a romcom movie script, she takes it, but the path is anything but smooth from the very beginning. Popular screenwriter Charlie Yates doesn’t work with other writers and didn’t know Emma was even coming to LA. He’s reluctant to co-write, doesn’t believe in love, and questions Emma’s commitment to writing due to her passing up past opportunities. So, things should go swimmingly, right?

Emma has long held Charlie on a pedestal… but soon she begins to realize Charlie knows nothing about writing a romance story or about love or even about happiness. In fact he seems a bit damaged. She is determined to stay and write the script *and* get to know Charlie. As they butt heads, they also begin to see what they thought were flaws in each other, were really past traumas which were never resolved.

Katherine Center is the queen of writing fun characters with witty banter and this book is no different! While Charlie and Emma couldn’t be more different, they were such fun characters to get to know, flaws and all. What I actually appreciated most was that they actually communicated and talked about their issues (aka no miscommunication trope which I loathe!!!) and found growth from it! It was quite the charming book. I did a mix of reading and listening and equally enjoyed both! The narrator was fantastic and really engaging and it lent to telling the story well.

This book was such a fun read! I loved getting to know the two main characters and seeing them fall for each other slowly over the course of the book. I also enjoyed reading about topics I am unfamiliar with like being the primary caretaker of a parent and writing movie scripts. There were some funny parts of the story that made me laugh out loud and emotional sections that made me feel for the characters so much. This book really had it all. One thing I didn't enjoy was the main character's attitude toward celebrities. Both her inner monologue and how she interacted with them was a bit cringey. Overall, I had a good time reading this book.

This is the only book by this author that I've given a low rating. It comes down to chemistry which is what characters in a romance books should have with each other. These MCs were great friends but I missed the part where they fell in love.

"She’s rewriting his love story. But can she rewrite her own?

Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies―good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates―The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!―it’s a break too big to pass up.

Emma’s younger sister steps in for caretaking duties, and Emma moves to L.A. for six weeks for the writing gig of a lifetime. But what is it they say? Don’t meet your heroes? Charlie Yates doesn’t want to write with anyone―much less “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Worse, the romantic comedy he’s written is so terrible it might actually bring on the apocalypse. Plus! He doesn’t even care about the script―it’s just a means to get a different one green-lit. Oh, and he thinks love is an emotional Ponzi scheme.

But Emma’s not going down without a fight. She will stand up for herself, and for rom-coms, and for love itself. She will convince him that love stories matter―even if she has to kiss him senseless to do it. But . . . what if that kiss is accidentally amazing? What if real life turns out to be so much . . . more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules―and comes true?"

**What I enjoyed about this book:
This book was really fun! I loved the banter between Emma and Charlie, as well as the humor throughout the book. I also appreciated that Emma and Charlie were both flawed characters, but that also made them very relatable. And finally, I always love a good grumpy/sunshine dynamic, as well as the forced proximity aspect!

4.5 stars, rounded up to 5 stars

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center is a delightful, witty, and heartwarming romp through the world of romantic comedies, both on-screen and off. Emma Wheeler has spent her life dreaming of being a screenwriter, creating the kind of heartwarming rom-coms she loves, but she’s always put her dreams on hold to care for her kind-hearted father. When she finally gets the opportunity of a lifetime—rewriting a script for her idol, the famous Charlie Yates—she leaps at the chance, leaving her dad in the capable hands of her younger sister and heading to L.A. for six weeks.

But things don’t go as smoothly as Emma hopes. Charlie, her personal writing hero, turns out to be a jaded cynic who thinks love is a "Ponzi scheme" and doesn’t care about the rom-com script he’s asked Emma to work on. Worse, it’s so awful that it could be the end of the genre itself. But Emma isn’t one to give up easily, especially when it comes to defending love stories—and maybe, just maybe, making her own come true in the process.

Center crafts an engaging and hilarious story with a touch of romance, self-discovery, and the kind of "enemies to lovers" dynamic that readers can’t help but root for. Emma’s determination to fight for her passion and for love, despite Charlie’s skepticism, makes for a compelling journey. The chemistry between Emma and Charlie builds deliciously as their witty banter turns into something deeper and unexpectedly real.

The Rom-Commers is a celebration of everything we love about romantic comedies—complete with quirky characters, heartfelt moments, and the kind of swoon-worthy romance that proves life can sometimes imitate art. It’s perfect for anyone who’s ever dreamed of writing their own love story—or just needs a feel-good escape.

Katherine Center knows how to deliver a charming and heartwarming romance, and she doesn’t disappoint with The Romcommers. I both read and listened to this book. I thought the narration was spot on — the performance brings the witty banter and emotional moments to life, making this an engaging and easy listen. I highly recommend picking up this book in any format.

Wha't the saying of never meeting your idols?....especially when you're told they would love your help with writing a movie script, you show up ready to help and they are offended that you didn't like their version.

This was a cute and quick read. The main characters seemed pretty toxic to me, I was a larger fan of the secondary characters. I feel like i was flying through the first half of the book and it slowed down a bit in the second half but overall worth the read. It isn't that "heavy."

Unfortunately this book was not for me. I know lots of people loved it, but I found Charlie TOO MEAN to ever redeem himself. The situation between Emma and her sister felt odd to me. Center tried way too hard to make Emma ~qUiRkY~
