Thank you for the sample of this book! Everyone knows about smores and roasted hot dogs, but who knew you could cook so many things over a fire. My mind is blown! I really enjoyed the cozy vibe the book gave. It definitely makes you want to grab your family and friends and build a fire! I'm looking forward to reading the finished copy of this book and trying some new recipes.

Like Wanda remarks, when she was little, with her parents and sister, she loved to spend time outdoor and her parents cooked when camping to the mountains. They mostly prepared food lighting a fire or on a portable gas stove.

From meat to fresh fish, Wanda remembers that times with joy.

I was interested in this sample mostly to get ideas for more variety in cooking over a fire. I find myself defaulting to the same recipes over and over. The recipes here are very simple but help to open the mind to new flavor possibilities when roasting marshmallows or making pies over a fire. Some of them are quite decadent. The photography was also very well done.

These Recipes Look Great!

Can’t wait to try them all! We love to camp and cook outdoor! Everything even tastes better camping! Yummm! I look forward to trying many of these out this summer.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

My review is of the first 52 pages of fun outdoor cooking. The first section is 24 recipes for cooking on a stick. Now that’s just fun for all ages. Each recipe has a concise explanation and uses only a few ingredients. The next chapter involves cooking with a pie iron. I’ve never heard of it but I am going to get one for my family. It looks like a sandwich maker with a long handle and is made of cast iron. The pictures included in the book are lovely, and each chapter begins with a brief rundown of what you need to know before hand, in order to carry out the recipes. There are even tips for building fires. While the revipes I was able to read sound fun and delicious, they also sound very rich. But that’s ok now and then. I liked the idea of Ritz s’mores. You toast a large marshmallow and sandwich it between two Ritz crackers along with a peanut butter cup. Even if you don’t cook outdoors a lot this is a fun read. After reading the table of contents I want to learn about cooking in those foil packets. I guess I’ll buy the book for my cookbook collection since readers were only granted the first two chapters. I also like that it’s spiral bound and will lay flat.

I received a partial preview of this cookbook in exchange for a review. What I have seen has me drooling! This cookbook is compiled of easy to make recipes for outdoor cooking. I was a little skeptical initially because I wondered how much new there could be in an outdoor cookbook.. Was it simply trying to reinvent the wheel? Would the recipes be overcomplicated or overly simple so as to only appeal to adults or to children? All my worrying was for naught! Each recipe has a concise explanation with only a few ingredients, and yet the results are mouth-wateringly tempting! The pictures are lovely, and each chapter begins with a brief rundown of what you need to know about the recipes to follow. There is even a bit of humor sprinkled throughout! I am eager to try several of these recipes on our next camping trip; I am confident that both the children and adults will walk away satisfied!

I've collected cookbooks for many years so only buy those that are unusual or those that have really great recipes in them. I have 8 Brunstetter cookbooks on my shelves and have gifted many over the years. The recipes are user friendly and use ingrediants that most of us have in our cupboards. No need to buy an item that you will only use once or twice. If you are looking for a gift, birthday, wedding, shower, no matter, you can't go wrong with a Brunstetter cookbook.

Anyone else ready for summer night bonfires and all the cooking out? I am! 🔥🍔🌭🌽 This book was so stinking cool. It’s a cookbook for campfires and taking typical foods but adding fun things to them. Some ideas with hotdogs, s’mores, corn on the cob, mud pies, and so much more. A really fun way to change up the normal and add something new to them. The pictures were fantastic, it had scriptures as well, and was just full of really neat ideas for summer bonfires! My husband really liked a lot of these too. We are excited to try these this summer with the kids! Thank you @netgalley @barbourbooks and @wanda_brunstetter for the advance copy of this book! It was so fun to look through. #netgalley #wandabrunstetter #amishcookbook #cookbook #summercookbook
