I have not read other books in this series, but now I will make it a point to get caught up with Niall and Kara. There were a few times throughout the novel that I wasn't quite sure to what the author was referring without the prior knowledge. However, at no point did I feel lost enough that I could not figure out what was going on.

I really enjoyed this novel with the twists and turns as well as the strong lead female character.

As a fan of historical fiction, I enjoyed the period-correct information as well as the historical author's note at the end. I suggest this book to anyone who enjoys a bit of suspense.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for this ARC. I thought this series was ending after book 3 so im really happy there is a fourth and the ending has set up for a fifth. The characters are still developing well and you are still learning more about their background. The plot twist was very good. Hoping there in' a long wait for the next installment.

Revenge in the Rogue's Hideaway is book #4 in Deb Marlowe's series called The Kier and Levert Mystery. I hadn't read the first three books but I feel the author filled us in adequately in the backgrounds of the characters. Kara is a leading Lady in the STEM of her day. Her specialty is automatons. Niall is a blacksmith. They are already a betrothed couple in this book. The owner of a club is murdered and they end up right in the thick of it, investigating it.
My favorite part of the story was learning that Niall is the illegitimate grandson of George IV and Maria Fitzherbert. I love it when you're reading romance, fiction, and you learn things! I never learned about George IV and Maria's relationship in school. I first heard about it from reading romance. I wasn't always an avid reader. I started late as an adult. The very first book I read was The Secret Wife of King George IV, by Diane Haeger. And the second book I read next was Sweet Lass of Richmond Hill, by Jean Plaidy. So when reading Rogue's Hideaway, when I learned Niall's mother was the daughter of Maria and George, I was like, oh, oh, OH! I know what they are talking about!!!
So thanks to Deb Marlowe for a great book and thanks for adding that storyline about Niall's parentage!

In the latest book in the Kier and Levett mystery series, Kara and Niall find themselves once again in the middle of a murder investigation. This time, the suspect is a dear whom they and shortly after the inspectors is innocent. Who poisoned Frederick Cole, a man with more than a few enemies. The fact that he died in a very public place, the Rogue's Hideaway, a music hall he frequented, would give several the opportunity. As Kara and Niall get more involved, they encounter danger and intrigue, but then when did they not! This time their relationship has changed since they are now an engaged couple. However, Niall is hesitant to take the step to marriage. Kara is afraid that he will leave again, over his "perceived" fear for her. In one of the best set of lines in the book, she makes it known that there is no place that he can hide that she wouldn't find him to become his bride. It takes danger that almost ends both of them for him to realize just how important they are to each other. I love this couple so very much. They are so real and ready to do whatever is necessary to make the other happy. Isn't that what love is all about? Throw in a murder mystery and you have a very good read.

Another great read in this series. This is the fourth in the series. Even though this can be read as a standalone, it is much better to have read the books before. There were twists and turns that kept you guessing. The characters were well written and they all blended well together. I found this one very hard to put down and now look forward to the next one. . I received an ARC from Netgalley and freely give my review.

I found this series as a KU recommendation and I have read the previous books, which I loved and which I recommend to understand the relationship between Kara and Niall. The previous books also show well the work Kara and Niall do as artists. There are also other aspects about Niall's past that come again into play in this story.

In this book four, they are asked to help solve a murder that occurred at a music hall, a most infamous one. Kara and Niall work together and soon realize there is more involved than just the theater community, as they discover connections to the high society and the business district as well.

I really love the relationship between Kara and Niall, the moments they have with each other and also with the secondary characters (especially Harold) and the others in their found family. The writing is excellent, the mystery is well done, and I couldn't put it down.

Highly recommend this series and this book! You won't regret getting attached to Kara and Niall.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this enticing murder mystery, it kept me hooked from the very beginning. The story is well written with a very good plot peppered with suspense, some action and a touch of romance. Kara and Niall are wonderful characters and I liked their natural, affectionate interactions. The secondary characters, who have already been introduced in the previous books in the series, are also endearing.
I enjoyed puzzling over who the murderer might be, there were more than enough suspects. It wasn't clear until the end whether Kara and Niall were being followed and threatened because of their investigation or because of Niall's own dark family secret…

As the story builds on information from the previous book and many characters have already been formerly introduced, I recommend starting with the first book in the series.

Frederick Cole, a successful businessman, patron of theater art and illegitimate son of Prince Frederick, Duke of York is murdered at Rogue's Hideaway, the new music hall theater and club owned by his illegitimate son Mr West. The man was feared, envied and hated by many, adored by others. Kara's and Nial's friend Josie Lowe, a professional actress and singer whose protector he was, is with him at the time of his death and is promptly arrested as the prime suspect. She asks her friends to investigate to prove her innocence. But the investigation is proving difficult, and there are more and more people with a motive.

Niall's personal situation also worsens. He is being watched and followed, and even he doesn't know exactly who his adversaries are and what they are planning for him. All he knows is that he doesn't want to put Kara in any more danger and involve her any further in his personal affairs...

Overall, a captivating book I gladly recommend!

Revenge on the Rogue’s Hideaway by Deb Marlow is another in her mystery series featuring Kara Levett and Niall Kier as sleuths. It is the dawn of the age of music halls looking to replace legitimate theatres in London. Josie Lowe is singing and is a hit, surprising herself, but not her benefactor, Frederick Cole. Frederick was an older man who had made it on his own despite the fact he was the illegitimate grandson of a king. He had convinced Josie to sing at the Rogue’s Hideaway, a successful music hall operated by his own illegitimate son. As Josie went to join him after her set, he passed out and died right in front of her. The police took her off to question her and she sent for Kara and Niall whom she had met recently. When they arrived they got the pertinent information and convinced the police to take better care of her while they investigated.

I didn’t particularly like the first in this series, the next I listened to, and now I am hooked. Kara and Niall are engaged, although the wedding doesn’t seem to be in the near future. Niall has recently learned of his own connection to the royal family and is not sure how they feel about it. He refuses to put Kara in any more danger, so he is holding off. There is a man following him and he can’t figure out of he is good or evil. Using their contacts, they learn about Cole, his family, and his associates, and of course, they figure it out, not before putting themselves in some dangerous situations. It was a good mystery with plenty of misdirection, but giving the readers clues along the way, too. They are terrific, well-written characters who show growth in every book. They gain friends and partners in each book, as well, making it even more fun to read their adventures. Thanks Deb Marlowe, for some terrific characters!

I was invited to read Revenge on the Rogue’s Hideaway by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #DebMarlowe #RevengeOnTheRoguesHideaway

Because this historical romance series follows the adventures of Kara and Niall its best to read the books in order. They are both very talented artists who work in different ways with metal. But it's the mysteries and their unusual friends that make the series so much fun. Our characters have a tendency to attract trouble. Sometimes it's our hero's family connections that cause him to be so watchful. In this book though it's someone else's that will be the biggest problem.
A good murder mystery to solve.
Good fun.

Another great addition to this entertaining series!

Of course there is a murder, and the duo try to help their friend Josie find out show the killer is, or she might just be in hot water!

Great interactions and characters made this a great story, making you hold your breath until the end!

Revenge in the Rogue’s Hideaway by Deb Marlowe
The Kier and Levett Mystery series #4. Historical mystery with romance. Closed door. Best read in series order.
Niall Kier fears his secrets will put Kara in danger, so when Kara is ready to move forward with their personal plans, he’s hesitant. A murder in the music hall Rogue’s Hideaway has Niall and Kara in the middle of the investigation trying to find a killer. Suspects from the upper level of Society as well as the splashy theatre community and business districts lead them on a chase of danger and peril.

Absorbing and thrilling. These mysteries and investigations always amaze with the depth of knowledge and connections both Niall and Kara have as well as how much of that detail has me visualizing the scenes and action. One scene that had me chuckling was when the maids were peaking at Niall when he was working on his art at the forge. With his shirt off. Scandalous! Another vivid scene for me was Josie with her guitar in the jail cell. I won’t say more since I don’t want to spoil anything.
A must for anyone that has started the series or likes a mystery that’s not all cyberspace.
4.5

The adventures continue!

Once again Kara Levett and Niall Kier face challenges on several fronts. Frederick Cole owner of The Rogue’s Hideaway music hall dies dramatically during the popular singer Josie Low’s performance of a new song. Josie, their friend, is being held, suspected of his murder. The pair are determined to bring the real perpetrator to account.
Along with this, Niall fancies he’s being followed. In fact when he fell down a hole in a construction zone (after a chase), a bulbous-nosed gentleman he’d recognized vaguely as watching him, threw down a rope.
Having been revealed recently as the grandson of Maria Fitzherbert and King George IV, Niall is in fear of what the palace might decide to do about him. Indeed he can think of quite a few ways he might be caused to disappear. Kara and Niall are engaged, but his concerns have him holding off from the marriage. Kara understands.
The murderer is eventually exposed but not before Kara is subjected to a happening that triggers memories from when she’d been kidnapped as a child. When Niall rescues her, Kara’s almost catatonic.
Another exciting adventure from Deb Marlowe’s pen. I’m looking forward to what happens next.

A Dragonblade ARC via NetGalley.
Many thanks to the author and publisher.

This is the fourth book in the Kier and Levett mystery series and starts right after the end of book three. Another great addition to this series with lots of twists and turn to keep you guessing to the end. There is also growth and improvement in the romance between the main character's as a side addition to the mystery itself which is a nice touch. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The fourth book of an amazing mystery series. My first recommendation is to read these in order, so you get the entire experience of these characters. Kara and Niall are beautifully written characters who continually find themselves in a pickle. Each story has them dealing with their crazy family and/or friends. Thus needing to solve mystery after mystery. This author produces the most intriguing, engaging and thrilling stories filled with absorbing depth.

Kara & Niall are coming to terms with the revelation of his secret. She is fully ready to move forward with their personal plans, but Niall is hesitant, worried he might still face consequences or that she might be affected by scandal or threat. They are both distracted when there’s a murder in the Rogue’s Hideaway, the most infamous music hall in London & one of their close friends Josie is taken into custody.
The fourth outing for Niall & Kara & another delicious mix of mystery & romance. Another very well written engrossing book, I love both Niall & Kara & love the chemistry between them, their love for each other shines through but it’s their almost telepathic communications which is a treat. Frederick Cole died in the theatre & as the couple delve into his life secrets are revealed & the number of suspects grows. There are twists & turns before the villain is revealed, I was kept guessing for much of the way through the book but got there just before our sleuthing couple did. There was more details about Niall’s past & there was a sort of closure – I hope the couple can now move forward
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Another great addition to the Kier & Levett series! I love that these books have an element of the romance between Kara and Niall but mostly focus on the mystery. With regard to the romance part, I also love that it has been allowed to grow and develop a little bit with each novel and is always moving forward. With regard to the mystery part, I like that the murders happen right away in these novels rather than going in for a big set-up. The author also does a great job of creating believable red herrings throughout to keep you on your toes until the big reveal. The villain here is well developed and their motive was somewhat unexpected - so even if you figure out the 'who' you won't necessarily know the 'why'. It's also been so great to see Kara and Niall's little crime solving team develop over the novels. I know this is a really short review but I would only be writing variations of "I love this book" and "this book is so good" so I will spare anyone who reads this. I can't wait to see what else is in store for all of these characters!

Niall and Kara work to prove a friend's innocence when her patron/lover is poisoned. Given how much the victim was loathed, there are a lot of possible suspects. The final solution is cleverly explained and a few loose ends from previous novels are tied up. The author includes atmospheric details about life in 1850s London, and the relationship between Niall and Kara is fun to watch develop. Probably a series best read in order, as the author refers obliquely to events from previous books, but then the reader has the fun of getting to know Kara and Niall and a cast of recurring characters. Thanks to Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Yet another outstanding entry into this author’s cozy mystery series, The Kier and Levett Mysteries. It has the perfect balance of mystery and romance and will keep you glued to your chair throughout. If you read the last book, you will know there was a shocking revelation about Niall’s parentage. Well, there is a shocking revelation in this book as well, but I won’t tell you what it is – you’ll just have to read it to see.

Josie Lowe, who helped save Niall’s bacon when he was captured by those nasty League men weeks ago, now needs saving. Josie’s riveting voice has been pulling patrons into the Rogues Hideaway for a while now and when she sings, the audience is rapt. They love her, and her wealthy patron, Mr. Frederick Cole, attends every performance. However, things change swiftly when, directly after her performance, Mr. Cole dies of poisoning and Josie is arrested for his murder.

With his ruthless business practices, Mr. Cole had no shortage of enemies, but would they be willing to kill? One of them must have because it surely wasn’t Josie. Could it be the wife who isn’t grieving at all? Perhaps it was the business partners whom he had made insanely rich, but who wanted more/different things? Could it be his illegitimate son who owns the Rogues Hideaway? With his acerbic personality, it could be anyone in London!

Kara and Niall have their work cut out for them when it comes to solving the mystery – but what of their romance? Well, Kara is ready to go forward, but Niall is still dragging his feet. Not that he doesn’t love Kara and wants to marry her – NO – it is that after the revelations about his parentage, he is afraid there may be reprisals against him and he doesn’t want anyone coming after Kara. So, no wedding in this book and I’m beginning to think there is a ‘no wedding’ theme here. 😊 I’m sure they’ll marry – I’m just not sure when. Do you realize Kara will become Kara Kier when they marry? Try saying that name quickly several times without putting a smile on your face. 😊 It sort of sounds medicinal, doesn't it? :)

I would love it if this became a long-running series, but that is up to the author and the publisher. I do wish they would get on with the wedding though as I would love to see them work on cases as a married couple and see how the dynamics of that relationship will work. I’d also like to see some stories where Niall’s past isn’t an issue woven throughout. However – none of that keeps me from absolutely loving the series. The writing is excellent, the mystery is engrossing and will keep you guessing, and we get to know the characters better and better with each new entry. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series – Carnage From The Cursed Crown. Oh! Doesn’t that sound exciting?

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
