Oh, man, y’all… I hate to say, I really really do, but this wasn’t the five star experience I was expecting. First of all, Laura Thalassa is one of my favorite romantasy authors. I’ve read nearly everything she has written, and will continue to do so. The first book in this series was so freaking good. I fell in love with the characters and the story world. But this second book was very underwhelming for me. The one thing I did love was the direction that Memnon and Slelene’s relationship went. I thought that the development that happens in this book was so great and I was eating it up. But the plot progression was severely lacking in my opinion. The pacing was quite slow for the first 75% probably. I just needed more from it in this way. I needed higher stakes, more suspense and building tension, and just more action in general. It wasn’t going anywhere and I wasn’t feeling compelled to keep turning the pages. And I must say, that is definitely not something I’m used to from this author, as one of the reasons I love her books so much is that she does such a great job of equally balancing plot and romance. I did enjoy how we got to learn so much more about past events, those chapters were some of my favorites. I’m also not sure how much I care nor am I feeling the seriousness of the cliffhanger at the end? But I will withhold judgment on that until I see where it leads in the next book. I expected to absolutely love this, and I ended up thinking it was just okay. Regardless, as of right now, I still think this series is worth the read and hopefully will continue to be so. And I still definitely think this series deserves way more hype and attention!

Bespelled" by Laura Thalassa, the second installment in the Bewitched series, continues the gripping tale of a young witch and her soulmate as they confront a series of mysterious murders within her coven.
The story picks up immediately where the first book left off, with Selene imprisoned for the murders and grappling with the flood of memories unleashed by the lifted curse. These memories encompass not only her current life but also her past life, revealing truths that challenge her sense of self. Her complex emotions towards Memnon evolve from anger at his imposition of memories to heartbreak over their shared history and sacrifices made for love.
Memnon's character undergoes a profound transformation as well. While retaining his ruthless demeanor befitting an ancient king and warlord, he exhibits genuine remorse and a willingness to earn Selene's forgiveness. His softer, more vulnerable side gradually emerges, adding depth to their evolving relationship.
The narrative maintains a brisk pace compared to its predecessor, focusing on unraveling the murder mysteries and developing the burgeoning romance between Selene and Memnon. Unexpected twists and revelations keep the reader engaged, reminiscent of Thalassa's signature storytelling in the Fallen World series.
Overall, "Bespelled" is a devour-worthy read that delivers answers while raising compelling new questions. It amplifies the intensity with heightened romantic tension, making it a must-read for fans of high-stakes fantasy romance.
If you enjoy intricate plots woven with passionate romance, this book comes highly recommended.

Thank you NetGalley for this wonderful book!
I have read all books written by Laura Thalassa and she dis not disappoint.. the second of this series, I was keenly waiting for Bespelled. The easy flowing writing made me read this in two sitttings! Please write more.. thanks

This series you guys!! IT'S SO GOOD!!!
I love a good romantasy book and there's no one that do it as well as Laura Thalassa, I swear.
Her morally girl characthers, her plot development and everything she creates in the world makes this series so rich.
I adore everything she writes and this one was not expected and now I need book three NOW!!!

I loved this book more than I did the second one. The first one felt rushed and had a lot of plot holes in my opinion this one though. It felt like it had better pacing and storytelling.

"Bespelled" picks up seamlessly where "Bewitched" left off, diving back into the tumultuous relationship between Selene and Memnon. With Selene regaining her memories, Memnon spends the book trying to regain her trust and love. Despite my initial concerns about this dynamic, Laura Thalassa’s skilled writing kept Memnon's personality intact, maintaining the witty banter and morally grey complexity that fans adore. The story is rich with mystery, suspense, and the evolution of Selene's powers, making it an engaging read.
The development of Selene and Memnon's relationship is a highlight, filled with emotional growth and tension. Selene's strength and independence shine through, complemented by her sharp wit and humor. Thalassa excels at crafting strong female protagonists, and Selene is no exception. The pacing is brisk, with plenty of surprises and a cliffhanger that leaves you eagerly anticipating the next installment. While more insight into their past lives would have been appreciated, the promise of a novella covering that aspect is exciting. Overall, "Bespelled" is a captivating sequel that keeps the momentum going in the Bewitched series.

I could hardly wait for this series to continue after reading Bewitched and Bespelled didn’t let me down, it met all my glorious expectations! I love dark fantasies and this is an unforgettable tale that includes everything you expect from this genre - it is dark fantasy perfection! There is so much happening that you just cannot put the book down. I never want this story to end! It’s captivating and addicting! Easily 5 stars!

WOW!! I’m such a fan! My only regret is not reading this series sooner. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you are a romantasy fan.
This one is darker than book 1 but kept me so hooked! I was glad I was able to read book 1 and 2 back to back otherwise I don’t know how I’d survive the cliffhanger. Love the twists of this book and loved how Selene’s and Memnon’s relationship slowly unravels. Laura sure knows how to tug at heartstrings. The love and spice are well balanced and I loved how Memnon is practically laser focused on Selene. His whole being is only focused on her! True soulmates!
The love triangle kind of broke my heart but I’m hoping things will get settled for the better eventually. It’ll be really intriguing to see how Memnon accepts his new venture. So excited for book 3!!
Thank you Bloom books for my e-ARC. All thoughts are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
I waited so long for the sequel to come out I have some mixed feelings about it. I loved the beginning but by the time I got about 25-30% in it was a struggle to get through! It seemed to drag on with unnecessary things happening.
I feel like there was some big miscommunication going on at first between Memnon and Selene mainly because of her memory issues but now that she has them back things are all coming into the light though.
I despised Memnon in the first book but he seems to be redeeming himself in this one. I can’t wait for the next one! To see if the whole series redeems itself!

Laura does it again! If she writes I will devour it, that's the rule! This book delves much darker than book one and it is a ride! The romance is so hot! And the villians are straight up evil- not gray- EVIL. Good news is our witchy, morally grey queen is ready for it! Perfect follow up to Bewitched!

Usually there is a second book slump, but not with this one. Thalassa keeps the energy going strong. The stakes are higher, the lore, adventure...ROMANCE was excellent and kept me reading this book. Like honestly, never wanted to put it down.

Bespelled is the long awaited sequel to Bewitched, and it picks up where we left off. In this book, both Selene and Memnon grow even more as characters. There is groveling, there is banter that I love to have between the two love interests, and there is some clarity over past events. If you have already read Bewitched, but haven't yet read Bespelled, you should read it asap! It's a story that will stick with you and have you salivating until the next one releases.

Bespelled by Laura Thalassa is book two in the Bewitched series and if you haven't read book one, you'll definitely need to before picking this one up.
This book picks up right after the end of book one. Selene has all of her memories and when Memnon realizes what truly happened in the past, he is horrified and offers up a magical bond that will give her full control over his will. To say their relationship takes some steps forward in this book is probably an understatement but there you have it.
That said, there are still enemies that haunt the Coven and we learn a lot more about who they are and who has been behind the murders of the witches. It was an interesting twist I wasn't expecting.
Overall, I'm on the fence with this series and it's because I can't decide how I feel about the characters. I'll see if I keep going with this series but if you're looking for a fantasy with paranormal and some spice consider checking this one out.

I am a huge fan of Laura Thalassa, so reading this book was a delight. This story felt well developed and had a good pace of action and development of characters.
I love getting to see way Memnon reacts and treats Selene, both in the beginning and during the book. The dialogue was sometimes cringe worthy instead of sexy, but I let it pass bc other scenes were so so good.
I highly recommend this book after having read Bewitched. Great series and I can’t wait for book 3 to come out 😍

#Bespelled:
Thank you @read_bloom partner for my gifted copies.
Honestly, the hardest part was remembering if spelled or witched was book 1 and 2. I kept flipping them.
This series to me is like a hidden gem. I feel like a lot of people haven’t heard of Bewitched or Bespelled, and it’s amazing.
It’s hard to review Bespelled because it’ll be major spoiler city. But I am reporting for duty to convince you to grab the best little romantasy series around.
First and foremost, we get our Memnon redemption arc. I wasn’t a major fan in book one, but he definitely redeemed himself. I became the usual “kick my feet up and squeal” romance reader I’ve become. There is a lot more spice in this one, so if you don’t do open door, just skip a few.. chapters.
We are left on another major cliffhanger that has me flipping pages back and forth hoping to magically summon up the next book. Needless to say, I failed.
Just FYI KU friends, both books of the series are on there and they are 10000% worth it. Out now!
If you caught her on Romantasy Con last night, you definitely need to grab it!
QOTD: Weekend plans? Or weekend book?

The little twist at the end was literal chefs kiss! I loved absolutely every second of this book. Literally inhaled it in a day!
Absolutely honoured I had the chance to not only review the arc for this book but also bewitched when it first came out.
Thank you NetGalley and the author for this opportunity.

Spicy, Enemies to Lovers, Fated Mates, Memory Loss, Morally Grey MMC, Second Chance
Next level groveling, angst, magic, and yearning. Things every romantasy novel should include. Bespelled felt better paced and contained more action then Bewitched. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This book had all kinds of twists and turns that I was not expecting, but I loved every second!
Memnon and Selene were as fiery as ever, plus he was groveling which equals I'm in love. I am so excited for the next book. If you want a fiery and passionate series, I definitely recommend this one! My romantasy loving heart has been gagged and fed.

4 stars
Bespelled, is the second book in Laura Thalassa Bewitched series and I am so here for this series. This book has such dark vibes from setting, Atmosphere, the characters and plot it was amazing. Selene and Mamnon are such a hot power couple from their mind-blowing magic to their crazy hot and deep relationship I was just cheering them on, Selene is definitely my favorite. The only reason that I did not give this book five stars was because there were things in the plot that we finally got to with so much build up and anticipation, then wrapped up so quickly, I was like that's it. Especially for some dynamics between Mamnon and Selene I just wanted more from Selene and her dealing with some events that happened between them. The magic was fun and crazy powerful, and everyone's magic has a different color and it's very cool. I missed Nero. We did not see him a lot. The second half of the book kind of disappeared, especially since he was so important in the first book, and I loved his cranky butt.
Overall, I loved the magic, murder mystery and fated mates so signing me up, highly recommended.
I received an advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
