I couldn’t finish this book. I was very turned off by the language and vulgarity. This book is also very politically incorrect. I wanted to continue on because I enjoyed the narrator but I couldn’t.

Summers at the Saint is my favorite from Mary Kay Andrews to date. There are a lot of characters to follow over 400+ pages but I stayed intrigued throughout. Like pretty much all of her books, this one probably could cut some of the fluff.
I loved the setting. Makes me want to head on down to Georgia! Summers at the Saint is perfect to get you in the summer mood.
There is profanity throughout so I had to be careful not to listen on speaker around my three-year-old.
The narrator, Kathleen McInerney, did a good job giving a distinct voice to the characters.
Thank you to NetGalley, Mary Kay Andrews, and Macmillan Audio for this audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Summers at the Saint is an absolute must read. If y0u are not a Mary Kay Andrews (MKA) fan, you will be after reading this new one by the "Queen of the Beach Read." I have read MKA way back to her days as Kathy Hogan Trocheck writing for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. I have never read a MKA novel that I didn't love, but Summers at the Saint tops the list with another personal favorite, The High Tide Club. MKA gives us, the reader, everything....lovable characters, a beautiful setting, bad guys, mystery, romance, murder, and most importantly, a happy ending. Every beach bag needs a copy of Summers at the Saint to kick off summer.

This was the second book I’ve read by MKA and so different from Bright Lights, Big Christmas. I went into this expecting a sweet romantic story in an idyllic setting and while the setting, on an island off the coast of Georgia, was indeed picturesque the story was intense with twists and turns galore!
I really enjoyed this, the mystery of “whodunit” and all the drama that ensued in the search for answers was excellent! I had some suspects figured out but one of the big reveals was definitely a surprise! 🙌🏻
I did both audio and e-book. The audio was very pleasing to listen to so all formats should work great for this one!
This was such a fun one time chat about with @wellred and @coffeebookcorner . Thanks ladies!
Big thanks to Macmillan Audio for the alc and St. Martin’s Press for the arc via Netgalley!

Summers at the Saint was quite an enjoyable book! This is the perfect summer read, and I’ve already told my friends they must pick it up. I loved hearing about everyone’s background and how they all ended up at the Saint. Rather than diving head-first into this world, I felt I was taking steps into the water to be introduced to every character. Although, I do think that it was a tad drug out. The book started to pick up around 30%, but I felt it was a little late for the size of the book. There was a hint of romance throughout the book, and I felt myself smiling because I was rooting for the characters to be together even with their difficult pasts. Finding out the hotel's secrets was a lot of fun, and I found myself coming up with theories. This was the first time that I was able to sort of guess who the culprits were. However, there were still so many things I was wrong about! I loved getting surprises at the end and finally putting all the puzzle pieces together. The book has a great mix of romance and suspense, with a hint of comedy.
The narrator, Kathleen McInerney, did a good job expressing their emotions and giving a distinct voice to the characters. This book was done in a fun way, and the narration was delightful to listen to. However, towards the end, the narrator would either give the wrong voices to the characters or not provide them with a voice at all. It started to get confusing because a voice I knew as one character was now being used for another character. It made it a little confusing, but it was still done well overall!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. I love this author and these feel good beach reads. This book was relaxing and had a good rhythm with the speed of the story. I like that this book has multiple stories that eventually line up.

Narrator 5 stars
Book 4 stars
My first Mary Kay Andrews book, and it didn’t disappoint!
The well known Saint hotel is in need of help, and the new owner Traci, is desperate to set up a team of new hires. We get multiple perspectives and backgrounds of each of these employees, and how their stories intertwine.
A twenty year old death at the hotel and also the suspicious death of one of these new employees causes for everyone to be on guard, while trying to figure out what really happened. It was a little slow to start while getting into the story, but after that I was hooked!
Read if you love:
-murder mystery
-books with multiple characters
-family drama
-sprinkle of romance
-Finlay Donovan books
Thanks so much to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and St Martin’s Press for my advanced copy/ALC!

"Summers at the Saint" was a fun read. I was entertained throughout the entire book and was exciting to hear what would happen to all the characters.

I love Mary Kay Andrew's books, but this was a DNF for me. The narrator was too high pitched with some of her characters to be enjoyable. I will be finishing it in print when it's released. The story was something I'd like to stick with.

A perfect beach read! It's full of twists and turns a complete page turner. I wasn't able to stop listening. Mary Kay Andrews has done it again. The characters were lovable and you quickly become attached to them wondering what is going to happen next the entire book. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves murder mysteries or beach reads, and I will definitely be telling people to read it when it comes out.

Traci Eddings finds herself trudging water trying to keep her beloved deceased husband's generational family business afloat. Putting on a strong face, Traci highers new staff including her long last best friends daughter for summer help. Every staff member is invited to live on site at The Saint. This book captures how a tragic accident can ruin a friendship, how strangers can actually turn out to be close and how nothing is as good as it seems on the outside of a business. I enjoyed this book and it's twists.

Narrated by Kathleen McInerney, we are taken away to a beautiful hotel. A hotel that I would love to stay the weekend in, problems and all.
Because, Mary Kay Andrews can set the scene! It's barely a few pages in before you are part of the drama of The famous Saint Hotel and hoping to help Traci as she competently manages the daily problems. I loved the characters and could have read a whole series staged the hotel! The death hit me hard and it was surprising but that's a testament to Andrews' ability to build a whole world!
It was a true page turner, a beach book, a bit of a thriller and an actual murder myster y- you don't find too many authors that could pull that kind of combination off!

This is the perfect beach suspense audiobook listen including a large cast of characters, an idyllic beach resort setting, and a propulsive mystery.
This bright and cheery cover includes my favorite summer color combination of team and pinks, which happens to be the color palate of the luxurious St. Cecelia resort on the coast of Georgia. Still run by the founders family, the resort is steeped in tradition and secrets. As the local area's largest employer, the resort brings together a variety of characters from members, hotel guests, chefs, golf pros, servers, and housekeepers. In order to provide affordable on-island housing to local workers, resort CEO, Traci Eddings converts the golf cart shack into a new dorm-like living situation. Traci is trying to creatively figure out ways to solve the resorts fledging financial woes, but then new information about a long-ago drowning at the hotel and a tragic death of one of their own staff threatens to bring down Traci's late-husband's family dreams.
Mary Kay Andrews is the queen of bringing a diverse cast of characters to life, and Summers at the Saint is the perfect example. I loved the short chapters that bounced between the multiple POVs, realistically showing all aspects of resort life. Scandals and secrets from decades ago to the present kept the plot propulsive, and had me rooting for Traci and her allies against corruption and greed. With a great blend of humor, suspense, and romance, this page-turn is sure to be a summer blockbuster for a variety of readers!
Narrator Kathleen McInerney did a fantastic job distinguishing between the large and diverse cast of characters from the young to the elderly! She also included a variety of accents, and I never had trouble discerning who was speaking.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my e-alc in exchange for my honest review. I will be sharing on my social accounts on pub week!

Another winner from Mary Kay Andrews. This was an enjoyable book, full of romance and suspense. The book was a great summer read, easy to get into, and it held my interest. The plot twist at the end was so unexpected, but a great finish to the book.
The audio version was wonderful. Kathleen McInerney is one of my favorite readers and I really enjoy her narrations.
I highly recommend this book.

The Saint Cecilia is an exclusive resort in GA, holding lots of secrets. This is not the lighthearted beach read that the cover suggests- as it is part detective/crime novel dealing with drugs, assault, and lots of drama.

4.5 star read for me! I listened to the audio version and the narration was perfection. I’ve never really recognized a readers voice until I started this one. For some reason she gives off instant summer on the east coast vibes so the story unrolled perfectly. This book offers readers a little bit of everything. A little love, a little deception, and a little thrill. Definitely a top read of the year

Traci Eddings is tasked with the running of an iconic southern beach resort that caters to the wealthy after the death of her husband whose family has owned the St. Cecilia for generations. She shares ownership and responsiblilities with her ailing father-in-law and spiteful brother-in-law, both of whom have resented her ever since her husband married "beneath his station." Ever the outsider, Traci works hard to uphold the legacy of luxury and gold-star status that the resort is known for, referred to by locals as "The Saint." Despite her efforts, financial difficulties and tragedy befall the vacation destination and Traci must solve the mysteries at the heart of her troubles before she loses everything.
This was a light-hearted beach read with romance and a murder mystery all rolled up into one. It offers up lots of characters with so much backstory that I thought it was a sequel to something, but it is a standalone and very much like other MKA novels - lines clearly drawn between the haves and have-nots sprinkled with humor and a somewhat predictable plot.

Mary Kay Andrews is a queen of beach reads, family sagas, and mysteries, and she packs all three into “Summers at the Saint.”
At the core of the novel are several mysteries, including a murder mystery. It’s the story of Traci Eddings and her attempts to hold on to her late husband’s family’s luxury hotel through post-COVID (and post-renovation) hard times. We’re introduced to a number of characters from the hotel and Traci’s family, and in the beginning I was a little concerned that the number of them might be overwhelming. But I quickly caught on to everyone, probably due to Andrews’ skill in writing them all so distinctly.
I’d classify the book as a combination of mystery and women’s fiction. There is some romance, but it takes a back seat to the other two genres. It’s relatively long, but not too long for everything MKA has to say. After all, there’s a lot going on! My favorite MKA’s books are her mysteries and this one is excellent.
I highly recommend taking “Summers at the Saint” with you on vacation this summer. It’s the perfect beach read.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

At first I would say that the narrator and the immaturity and “southern” ways of some of the characters really threw me off. I didn’t know if I would continue with the story. However once I got past 40% it did pick up with some interesting twists. I did eventually feel for these characters and was rooting for some of them.
There were parts that had me wanting to scream “open your eyes” how can you be so naive about things that were happening. But overall it made for a good book.
I like how we had so many different points of view. I did find it a little hard to remember who everyone was in the beginning and how they were connected or going to connect. But towards the middle it became easier to remember.

Thank you so much to @netgalley and MacMillan Audio for the Advanced Listener Copy of Summers at the Saint by Mary Kay Andrews in exchange for an honest review! I LOVED this book - it started off with the perfect depiction of the "haves" and "have nots", differentiated by "The Saint". St. Cecelia was a beautiful hotel on the coast of Georgia - we learn about Traci, who was never rich or connected enough to be 'a Saint', just work there (aka an Ain't)
She ended up marrying the boss' son, but is now a widow and wants to restore the hotel despite some meddling family members. There were really wonderful characters - even though there were a lot of them! - scandal, and unexpected twists. A hint of romance and tons of witty dialogue, this is a perfect summer beach read!
The narration by Kathleen McInerney was perfection - she managed multiple POVs with aplomb.
