I had a hard time getting into this book. Usually I like Vampire titles, but the writing was stilted, and I found myself skipping over most passages and being rather bored. I would not recommend this title.

I loved Antonio! This was such a great story. I wish I’d known it was part of a series as it would have made more sense starting at the beginning. I look forward to reading the entire series by Mimi.

I think I made a mistake in requesting this book from Netgalley in that this series is better enjoyed if you start from the beginning. Since I started with this book, I was missing quite a bit of backstory. The author does a pretty good job of filling in the blanks, but because I didn't know any of the characters or the situation they were in, it all seemed a bit off the wall to me. I think it would have been funnier if I had a better idea of what was going on. Nonetheless, the book was a fun romp and I appreciated that it was based on various Central American gods and myths instead of the usual Eurocentric ones. Ixtab made for a great heroine, and I especially loved her visitations to the various AA meetings. Those were hilarious. As for Antonio, he was a bit hard to take initially, but at least he had good reasons for acting the way he did. I really need to go back, though, and start from the beginning.
