The writing style was not appealing - in the beginning. Very much like a report, not like a novel. A lot of telling instead of showing. Nevertheless, along the way it proved adequate to the content, to the idea of a scientific experiment.
The subject was interesting, the plot - engaging. I read it in about 24 hours despite the tiny font.
It is a book about morality, about taking responsibility, it literally reminds the reader of the story of Frankenstein.
I do recommend it, with a side-note that this writing style isn't for everybody.

I am blind, so the premise intrigued me instantly and I really enjoyed the story, especially Kathy's perspective and struggles.
That said, sometimes I felt that the characters' voices were a bit too similar, but their personalities were distinct enough and it never really became a problem.
The ending was really great, the perfect finale.

Unblinded by D. Michael Hallman
I really liked this book. I took a couple of days to process it before writing a review after being hit with the ending. I really enjoyed following Kathy and got drawn into her thoughts and moods. Trey on the other hand, his actions were over the top and I had a hard time with his character. Paul Lazarus is stuck in a difficult position all the way around.
Kathy is a fairly happy, talented young lady. One thing holding her back in life is that she is blind. Kathy enters a drug trial. The trial is in the infant stages of development. Surprisingly Kathy's vision starts coming back. But it doesn’t fully develop and it turns out to be more of a curse than a blessing.
Trey is also a participant of the trial for this “miracle“ drug. Trey lost a lot when he initially went blind which happened quite recently. He lost a great job, he had to quit driving and lost all of his independence from having those things. Shockingly Trey regained all of his vision. Trey also developed some side effects to the drug. His were way more severe than Kathy’s. Trey no longer tried to control his violent impulses.
Then there was Paul Lazarus, the creator of this drug. Paul has a lab incident in which he inhaled some of the drug. Paul starts to notice a slight change in his own behavior that causes him to make very poor life decisions. It makes him wonder if the trial participants are experiencing something similar. Paul sets out to discover the truth even if it means going to battle with those that own the drug and value money over life, or facing the patients who’s lives the drug is altering.

I was hooked as soon as I started this book and medical thrillers are not my usual read but I really enjoyed it.

I loved this book at the start when the drug was being tested on humans and seeing people starting to see things again, mads me happy when the woman and the man could see fully again. but however as the book went on it felt like the book was starting to focus more on the male who started killing people. I would have rated this book more stars if it focused more on the drug and helping people than the man killing people when he got mad. after saying that I did not see the romance part or the killings coming.

This was a really well done medical thriller novel, it had everything that I wanted and enjoyed the overall feel of this story. The climax has a great overall feel and worked with the story. I was engaged with what was happening and thought the characters were wonderfully done. D. Michael Hallman has a great writing style and I enjoyed what I read.

This was such a unique story. I enjoyed the research that was done to help these patients regain their site. this book was well written and I enjoyed the characters.

Wow....this book was spectacularly written with an interesting and unique premise. I liked the idea of a miracle "cure" that can restore eyesight and the complications that follow are quite interesting. The writing grabbed me immediately and I was stunned, to say the least, when the book was done!! I will be following this author for sure.

This is a medical thriller that looks into the complexities of a drug that restores sight to the blind. Hence the title, Unblinded. This was a fascinating story idea that was well written. Both the plot and characters grabbed me immediately. I was hooked all the way through this book, and highly recommend it for those readers who like medical novels with a unique story idea. I hope the author publishes more books like this.

I just finished Unblinded. The photo of the jacket intrigued me. As I started to read the book, I found the topic and characters well developed. The story line was well written. What interested me was the idea of research being done to assist people regaining their sight from a drug in beginning stages. The two main patients were willing to try it. They were faced with challenges once they received their sight back. The patients learned much more about themselves and drastic realities of their true nature.
