Thank you, Netgalley, for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.
This book reminded me of the excitement of going to the school library for the first time. It's a cute way to help younger kids remember proper book etiquette.

There's something undeniably magical about the school library. For many children, it's a weekly oasis of adventure and discovery. Overdue: The Misadventure of Bob the Book by Gloria Koster captures this enchantment perfectly.
Bob, the beloved library book, is a character children will instantly adore. His predictable routine - checked out, loved, returned - is disrupted when he embarks on a hilarious and unexpected journey. Through Bob's eyes, young readers will learn the importance of caring for books while enjoying a captivating story.
Koster’s vibrant illustrations bring Bob’s world to life, making this picture book a visual treat. Whether it’s the thrill of being checked out or the anxiety of getting lost, children will empathize with Bob’s experiences.
Overdue is more than just a fun story; it's a gentle reminder of the joy of reading and the responsibility that comes with borrowing books. It’s a perfect choice to share with young bookworms and budding librarians alike.

As a Librarian, I LOVED this book!! Sweet little Bob shows us the exciting life of a library book and gives us humorous insight into every library book's worst fear-getting lost. I laughed throughout Bob's harrowing ordeal, thinking about the condition in which some of our library books return. I also appreciated the tips for taking care of ones library books that can be found at the end of the story. I cannot wait to incorporate this book into a story time! I will definitely recommend this book for purchase.

In "Overdue," Gloria Koster creatively explores the care of library materials through the eyes of a neglected book. The book effectively combines storytelling with educational value, making it a valuable resource for librarians and educators. It offers an engaging narrative emphasizing the importance of proper book maintenance and respect for library resources. Overdue is a must-have for library shelves and classrooms!

OVERDUE by Gloria Koster tells the story of Bob, a beloved library book that finds himself overdue at a reader’s home. Will he ever make it back to the shelves—or into the hands of an eager reader—again?
With cute artwork and a relatable storyline, this will be a fun book to share at the beginning of the school year to help introduce young readers to the importance of caring for, returning, and enjoying their library books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing an eARC of the book with me.

As a former librarian I just had to read this.
It's a fun and short story about a library book that went missing. This book shows children how to resposibly take care for library books. The artwork made the story alive and nice to look at.
Maybe some adults should also read this story, to remember to bring back their books on time and to treat them right!

I loved this book! Bob is a library book. Most of the time he's treated great, but not Sebastian's family. The messy kid mistreats him and eventually loses him. When the family gets an overdue notice, Bob is finally found, and Sebastian learns to love Bob. This was so funny and relatable. It can be great to share for the humor or to teach a lesson about caring for books.

I'm not surprised that this is a very popular book. Library bias aside, this is a creatively told book on how young readers should and NEED to take care of library books. The use of a library book's point of view to tell this story is uniquely genius.
Man, this gives me childhood flashbacks of the one library book I lost and found years later in a full bookshelf of other children books.
Don't be like me and give this a read!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher(s) for this funny, fun, and exciting book.! Geared for young children, but I feel it's good for ALL ages.

Overdue is a very cute book that teaches kids about how to be responsible with library books: to take care of them, respect them when borrowing, etc. Cute and funny artwork as well. It’s perfect for little kids everywhere.
**Thanks to the author, artist, and publisher for the e-ARC I received via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.**

I really enjoyed this book! It’s cute and I think it’s a great way to show kiddos how to take care of their books - whether it’s a library book or their own.

This book was adorable! My son has misplaced a school library book a few times so I thought this book was pretty relatable. The illustrations where very well done.

I love it so much, it’s adorable. - Alice Bailey age 6
As you can see my daughter and I read it and she called the main character a “savage” for forgetting about a book and only watching tv. She was on the edge for her seat waiting to see what would happen. Great read!!

Very cute book about a forgotten book. I think every family and librarian can relate to missing books.

This story was so wholesome. I absolutely loved it. I think it is a very nice story to show kids that reading can be so much fun, but sometimes you just have to find your book. Would definitely recommend this book.

This was an adorable book about a book. It flowed perfectly and would be great for any story time. I would recommend this to parents, teachers, and of course librarians.

This is such a great book for school libraries! I can't wait to share it with my students. I know they are going to enjoy the humor in this story and will hopefully learn the lesson of taking care of their books.

Overdue is a wonderful story about the misadventures of Bob, the most popular book in the children's library. Bob gets taken home by a kid, who forgets to bring him back & he becomes an overdue book. I loved the way library books were championed & there were notes about how to take good care of them.
I really loved the ending of the book & how understanding libraries are. Thanks to NetGalley, Gloria Koster, and Capstone for the chance to read and review! My thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a great book to introduce being a responsible library patron. I plan to use it at the beginning of the school year before book check out is started.

This was adorable. I love objects with sentient thought, a la Toy Story and this was such a cute tale of a sentient book!

Oh, I absolutely adored this! I'm always looking for the perfect way to engage students at the beginning of the year when we go over rules and expectations. I never want to lecture them the whole time, and books like this are the perfect thing to read to help teach kids about book safety and keep them engaged during their visit! I found this charming, well-paced, and nicely illustrated as well.
I liked that the story had Simon give the book a chance after he found it, and that he actually enjoyed it! I think, sometimes, people assume that when someone loses or misplaces a book it's because they don't care, but this book showed that's not always the case.
I absolutely love this, and I can't wait to buy it for my library so I can read it at the beginning of every year!
