Wasn't sure what to expect....

But I did like it.
Isobel is prone to flights of fancy and someone is feeding into said fancy.
Alistair want to make it work with Isobel.
But something Gothic is afoot.
Recommend.

It was so easy to fall in love with this story. There was conflict, romance, spice, world building, and struggles that just made you more and more invested in seeing things work out. This was written with great detail which really made you get to know each character instead of just being a name you have to try to remember. It was a very satisfying read and you ended wanting the next book immediately. I loved the balance of conflict + relief. It is something so many books lack, most favoring a lighter plot.
