A helpful resource to preparing for retirement. I found some useful pieces of information.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Always plan ahead. It was raining when Noah built the ark.” -proverb

I took my time reading this book because I am trying to better understand steps I could take to increase my ability to retire well with as much financial strain taken care of as possible. I think it is important to plan ahead, especially if you have to essentially fund your own retirement (I.e. you don’t have a traditional pension to fall back on).

There are several strategies for retiring with tax free income in this book and it is obvious that the author has researched the information extensively. He clearly and carefully lays out the options and the pros and cons of each one. Inflation, what you can control (or not), and estate—planning, are all topics that are mentioned as things that need to be considered. You are left to choose what works for you.

Time is spent on the advantages of converting taxable accounts to a Roth IRA, using reversible mortgages, getting around a capital gains tax when you sell your property, and REITs to name a few topics.

All in all, I think this book is an important one for anyone retiring within the next few decades to read. Tom many of us wait until the last minute to try and sort out our geriatric years. Having read this text made me realize that there’s more to retiring comfortably than I realized.

Great resource for retirement planning no matter what age you are - never too early to start preparing, or too late to make changes to benefit your quality of life.
