Unfortunately this got boring the moment Henrik "matured". I felt like this was a filler novel. Character after character was getting thrown at me and I'm not about to remember the first five people you're talking about, let alone a new one each paragraph. If I get bored with a story, like I did this one, I find that it's just better to DNF it, and move on, rather than force myself to drag my feet through it...which is weird because I enjoyed the first one.

Buzz probably would've been more interesting to me if I'd read the first book to get better context. That being said, it was OK; interesting enough to keep reading, but definitely a slow one that I had to come back to. It reads like a middle book in that it's setting up for what I hope is a great finale ... that I'm not quite sure I'll stick around to read. I didn't really find myself invested in Henrik, and that's usually what pulls me in. Also, I'm not huge on conspiracy theory reads, so I don't really think I'm the target audience who would enjoy this anyway. I'm appreciative of the opportunity to check out a new-t0-me series, though.

A well written suspenseful plot.
Many thanks to Atria Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Fiction (Adult), General Fiction (Adult), Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Action, Adventure

Henrik Pettersson, HP to his friends, has been hiding from the Game Master. He stole a lot of money from the Game and has been traveling the world using false names so the Game cannot find him. He meets Anna Argos and has a fling. When his friend Vincent invites him to go to a party in the desert, he asks Anna if she wants to join him. Unfortunately for both of them, things do not go according to plan.

The story is fast paced, the characters are developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. I cannot decide if I liked this book better than the first one. They were both thrilling in different ways. I look forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.

I quite enjoyed this series of books and I am not sure why this one set here not reviewed. I remember really liking the whole "game" theme of the novels and that the book translated well from it's original language, which doesn't always happen when books get translated into English. I kind of want to read it again to jog my memory of how things played out!
