Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this book. I have no clue about bitcoin and cryptocurrency so that went right over my head. The need for revenge was the best part of the story for me. And the wording of what I assume is British slang was just plain weird. I finished the book and was happy with the ending but didn't really understand much of the story.

A very complex cast of characters and a fine psychological game of characters and circumstances. This is probably my third book by Evie Hunter and every time she does not disappoints. She is able to create a good story with surprising ending. Personally, I was interested in following some of the characters and trying to understand their motivations. I was not disappointed and I cannot wait to read her next book!

This is a book that I can say is an absolute brilliant summer read! I wish I was aboard Perseus with the sun beating down. Thats how this book leaves you. I do enjoy an Evie Hunter tale. The fact that her settings always whisk me away so easily adds an extra layer the experience.

The Takedown is a revenge thriller that totally caught me up, almost like a whirlwind. The luxurious settings, the characters who are intriguing and multi layered. I couldn't get enough of this story. Freya is the main character who is only on Perseus for one reason, to take down the owner of the yacht, Julian Falcon!

I was so eager to discover everything about why and if Freya would succeed. As the plot unfolded and the details started to come out, it just fed my curiosity all the more. The fact that there were more people who it seemed, would revel in his downfall made it all the more 'juicy' to read. I love a good revenge story!

A well-paced and as always excellently written book that I read far too fast for my liking. If you fancy a great read with dodgy characters and a luxurious setting, this is one to pick up! I am a Evie hunter fan so when this came available I was thriller to read it & I found this a perfectly paced thriller with great characters. I enjoyed reading about what two people that get together can think of to do to someone as a revenge. If you like reading thrillers or people getting their revenges you’ll you enjoy this book

This book was set on board the super yacht Perseus, which is moored in the glamorous harbour in Antibes, Freya Addison is settling into her new role as hostess

All the other crew members all like Freya, she is calm and diligent and a hard worker, but what they don’t know is that Freya has a secret and an ulterior motive for being on board.

Revenge will be hers in the end.

Because Freya isn’t here to travel the world in style. She only has her sights set on one thing only, to bring down the owner of the yacht - the rich and arrogant Julian Falcon.

He is the man who ripped the heart out of Freya’s family. WoW............

Sadly this latest book had too many characters in which made it hard to follow sometimes. I got lost and bored following everyone to get to the main plot. But still; a ok read. Plus, to dream of being on the beautiful Yacht laying in the sun listening to the sea around you.......

I liked the slow unraveling of the history between Freya and Julian. It added a bit to the suspense of the novel. That being said, I did find it a really slow start to the book and so perhaps a bit more backstory a bit sooner would have helped. I enjoyed the characters and the setting of a superyacht was a cool idea. I did find the grammar a bit weird at times, but that might be a because I'm Canadian, but things like "Did they hell!" to mean something along the lines of "they did not!" or "Did they? No!" Overall it was a decent book, but didn't quite land with me the way I'd hoped.

The author expertly wove a tale of mystery and tension, keeping me eagerly flipping through the pages to uncover the layers of deception and betrayal.

In summary, while the main character, Freya, shone brightly as a symbol of strength and perseverance, propelling the story forward with her unyielding determination, I couldn't shake off the desire for a more heart-racing and thrilling conclusion to match the intensity of the overall narrative.

If Julien Falcon had known that week that taking the super yacht to Ibiza would see him surrounded by more enemies than he could count, he might well have made a different decision. But that would not have been as much fun. What with his complete arrogance and the number of secrets harboured by his staff and guests alike, he didn't stand a chance.
The Takedown is a revenge "thriller" which rattles along at a good pace. Much of the story is told through dialogue and introspection which gives the reader a good idea of how the main characters are thinking and therefore why they react the way they do. That said, I found it a tad repetitive in the way Freya's motive for revenge, in particular, was addressed. Added to that, though, was the crazy number of staff members and guests on board the yacht that had it in for Julien - it struck me as unrealistic that all those elements would converge together in the same place at the same time. This doesn't take away from the fact that it is an entertaining read, although it could have been set anywhere given the focus on character over setting.
A quick, enjoyable read. 3.5 stars from me, and thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood for my copy which I've reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This was a new to me author. There were numerous characters to keep tabs on, and a lot of events happening in this book. Freya has ulterior motives of being on the luxurious yacht. The pace is unchanging, the characters are well developed, and it’s an easy, quick read. Moreover, it is hard to include it in the list of thrillers but it is a good book anyway.

Form the blurb it is pretty obvious that The Takedown is a revenge story and I was looking forward to a well plotted taut thriller but sadly it felt a bit underwhelming.

I loved the main character Freya who remained focussed and strong in her quest to seek retribution. It was a compulsive read with the perfect pacing but I would have really liked a more thrilling climax. The book will be out tomorrow 5/8.

I liked the unique setting this book provided. Some of the plot was predictable and some of it wasn’t. I throughly enjoyed reading this book

Freya has just taken on the role of hostess onboard a luxury super yacht. Freya is also out for revenge as the owner of the yacht has ruined Freya’s family life.
The novel is well written with interesting characters, but I think they lacked depth.
Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. I found the plot unrealistic as everyone on the yacht had an axe to grind. The plot lacked thrills and suspense, which made the ending feel contrived.

This review is based on my reading this book and is a honest, transparent feedback based on my experience of reading this book.

The story blurb was a great sounding revenge drama and I was looking forward to a well knit taut story. This was another of my experiments of trying books by new authors especially female writers who write in the Thriller, sci-fi & fantasy genre.

My appreciation for Evie that she has delivered a story with very well drawn out characters. The pace of the story is also frantic and the reader gets caught up in the pace. The characters especially the people who are pitted against the antagonist are well written but somehow the antagonist seems a little too two dimensional and everyone's enemy.

My biggest grouse against this book is that the story somehow lines up into Caesar's murder (Julius Caesar), meaning that almost everyone has a beef against the antagonist and somehow everyone seems to have infiltrated into the yacht. Considering that the yacht even a super one has limited space and a limited number of people who could work there and holiday in and so having so many of them colluding together was a difficult pill to digest. This made the overall plotline a little flimsy.

The best part about Evie's writing is that it made me read the story compulsively and for a large extent got me reaching towards the end. The story which has detailed so much could have done with a little more explosive takedown but overall this story is interesting and I would like to read another book from her repertoire. The team has taken great pain in presenting a very well formatted and designed cover which along with the blurb forms a difficult combination for a prospective reader to resist.

This was my first book by this author . The plot sounded great and it started off pretty good but then it just got too complicated with to many characters and a storyline that was all over the place. I was attracted by the cover and the storyline and really looked forward to this read, but it didn't quite deliver for me. Freya Addison has taken up a job as hostess on the luxury yacht Perseus, owned by rich businessman Julien Falcon. Falcon is a horrible character - arrogant, vicious and crooked. The story begins in the South of France when guests come aboard for a trip to Ibiza. Julien has no idea that Freya is on board to exact revenge for the death of her younger sister Polly. Little does she know there are others on board who also have issues with him.
This was one of those straightforward reads, well written but for me, it lacked real suspense. There were moments when I felt Freya would be discovered, but she seemed to have nine lives and slip out of danger quite easily. I thought both Freya and Captain Greg Larson's characters lacked depth and could have been developed more beyond just being attractive people. Julien was the best written character in the book - the archetypal boy from the backstreets who had made his money by dubious means. A truly nasty individual, he used people and threw them away - as he had Polly - in the most horrific way. His take down did not materialise as I thought it would, but overall I thought the story was entertaining..

I was looking forward to The Takedown and the plot of Freya working on a superyacht was appealing. However, the reality was that I didn't find the yacht visual at all and could not imagine the surroundings.

I did like Freya and Gloria but I didn't like Greg or Chelsea. There were too many characters and there was too much goung on. It just felt chaotic.

The writing style was overly wordy and I could not get into the book. I tried, but it was a DNF for me.
