This is a time travel romantic story from modern day back to 1600. The story explains what happens when Josiah is born, pure evil, Raxxix, is involved in the story.
There is a connection betwen Mercy and Josiah who manage to stay true to themselves despite what the prophecy said, plus many other interesting characters in this story.
Mercy is an orphan who was badly injured when her mother was murdered. She cuts herself on an ancient ruby dagger, and she finds herself suddenly in the 17th Century, sent there to kill Josiah.
You do not want to miss this story!

I'm sorry. Normally I love time travel romance but this book wasn't for me. Too violent, especially the beginning when Josiah is a newborn.

3.5 stars
This is my first Paula Quinn book so I didn't know what to expect. But a fantasy romance set in the 1600 with time travel from the 21st century sounded too good not to try it. And I really loved that aspect of this book. I liked the main characters, and while they teetered on the precipice of insta-love/lust the author pulled it back and made their love story genuinely enjoyable to read. I found the story very interesting and fast moving, sometimes even so fast moving that it seemed rushed. I loved the time travel though. On the other hand the evil of demon Raxxix and the curse are constantly brought up, but they don't feel menacing or developed enough to drive the plot of the book. Overall, I wanted more from this read, but loved the general plot and many plot twists throughout!

A Promise for All Time by Paula Quinn was about magic and time travel. I don’t like magic. I do like time travel if done well. This book had elements I liked. I liked the characters: Mercy Blagden and Josiah Ashmore. Josiah was definitely a product of his father’s and brothers’ caring for him. He was a good man, one, surprisingly, with a mind of his own. And he knew how to care for his own, something he had learned. Mercy was a modern woman. Sadly this book did not take place in modern times, although she was able to put to good use those traits she brought with her. They were a conundrum.

It was a decently written book but the curses were always there. I can’t believe in curses, even in fiction and it spoiled the whole thing for me. I was disappointed in this book. I expected so much more from Paula Quinn.

I was invited to read A Promise For All Time by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #PaulaQuinn #APromiseForAllTime

This is a time travel romance set between modern day and 1661.
Our hero's soul was promised to a demon, by his mother before he was born. Everyone knows of the curse and are just waiting for him to turn from a gentle man, loved by everyone, into a monster.
Our heroine is an orphan who was badly injured when her mother was murdered. She has no clue of her destiny, but someone does.
There are a lot of lies and fears ahead for both our characters and those around them. Can our heroine change the outcome for all of them???
A fascinating story.

A Brilliantly Crafted Time Travel Romance

The Ruby Dagger brings them together. Will it rip them apart? Mercy and Josiah's story is enchanting. It is a tale of curses, love, loss, hope, and redemption. The two will face colossal challenges. Can enduring love destroy a demonic curse? It seems impossible. The curse turns a kind and gentle man into a monster, and Mercy must find a way to reach the beauty inside the beast.

This is an excellent story with time travel, romance, and a healthy dose of the supernatural. I loved it and would recommend it. I look forward to what comes next in this series.

Thank you to the author, Dragonblade Publishing, and Netgalley for the digital arc!

Let me just say that I love time-travel romance novels! I go crazy for them! So of course I had to read this!

The first half of the book focuses more on information, world-building, and romance. After that, then the plot starts and thickens. There were some plot twists and secrets revealed that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I like how both characters stayed strong and true to themselves and each other despite what the prophecy said. We are the ones who decide our fates/destinies.

The flow of the story is well until the end. I already had a feeling of what was going to happen for the ending of Raxxix, but it felt rushed a little bit. I love the other part of the ending. It just makes me happy for both the main characters.

This is my first ever ARC and my first Paula Quinn book, as if this book introduces me to the author and honestly speaking i enjoyed this book!

Lived in 2022, suddenly Mercy got dragged into the 1600 england and met the captvating Josiah Ashmore, the Earl of Winterbone. Their destiny somehow collided by a cursed and prophecy, causing some twists and turns in their journey of love.

The first time i found out about this book, i got invested in the blurb and the premise. I've always loved a historical romance, but combined it with time-travel and cross-time love? And some fantasy with that? COUNT ME IN.

There are some things i truly love about this book. First is that Quinn made the Josiah character different from anything i've read before. He's loving, easy-going, goldern retriever type of gentleman which is rare to find in historical romance books where they're usually have cold personality and play a lot hard-to-get game. Secondly, i love how the book feels cozy with those family moment, something have to do with the villagers, and how both Mercy and Josiah loved to run and chase here and there giggling like everything's pink and filled with love, despite of the tragic destiny that tied them.

Also the author did well with the angst which added so much flavor to the story. I just hope that it'll be much longer and hurt just to give the reader some decent pain after the lovey-dovey parts. As for the fantasy, even though the beginning was promising, as the story went by it lacks of depth especially with the ending with Raxxix is that short and unsatisfying to me. I'm hoping for some hardships towards the ending and how will they overcome the curse but it just ends there. Speaking of the ending, it's kinda confusing and until this time i'm not really sure but what i get form it is they actually relive the year 1661 but with different variables (minus the curse and prophecy) and they met like a normal lady and gentleman at the time. Again, it's only my perspective.

Over all, i enjoyed the reading process and it took me some effort not to finished this quickly since i love Mercy and Josiah that i don't want it to end so soon. I'm excited for the next installment of the series and def gonna read it once it got released!

At the age of four Mercy Blagden, who was to become a social outcast, accidentally cuts herself on an ancient ruby dagger. Her blood mixes with the blood of a cursed seventeenth-century English lord, and she finds herself transported to his time and his castle's dungeon in the year 1661. Despite the circumstances, she quickly falls in love with Josiah Ashmore, the seventh son of the Duke of Dorset, and realizes that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him, even if it means living in the 1600s.

Josiah has had to live with ill health and an age-old prophecy but spending time with Mercy fills his heart with hope for a brighter future for himself and the woman he loves.

This was my first time reading a book by this author. Although I had hoped to enjoy the story after reading the blurb, I found myself feeling bored at times due to the predictability of the plot. I almost gave up on the book halfway through, but I decided to stick with it. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the ending, which I found to be very confusing.

A fantasy romance set in the 1600 with time travel from the 21st century. Mercy must travel from the current year back to the 1600 to destroy Josiah based on an ancient lore. Overall the story was very engaging and fast moving. I loved the time travel although the evil of Raxxix was a bit harder for me to visualize. Well written with great visuals to allows the reader to truly feel like they were immersed in the story.

1 star. Mercy and Josiah are two people linked through a prophecy: that Mercy is the only one who can kill Josiah and prevent him from falling under the control of a demon named Raxxix. The only problem is that Mercy is living in New York in 2022, and Josiah lives in England in the 1660s. When she finds a mysterious dagger, Mercy travels back in time to Josiah, and has to navigate living in a different country 400 years in the past while learning about the dagger and falling in love with the man she is destined to kill. I requested this book because, like another reviewer, I expected a more Outlander-type time travel and romance novel (try saying that five times fast). A Promise For All Time has the time travel, historical fiction, and romance elements, but that is where any similarities to Outlander begin and end. On NetGalley, it is listed in the Sci Fi and Fantasy genre, but I'd argue it is less fantasy and more historical fiction and romance. The curse and the villain, Raxxix, are constantly brought up, but they don't feel menacing or developed enough to drive the plot of the book. It felt like the main characters, Mercy and Josiah, constantly argued over the dagger and Raxxix without actually reaching any agreements. Additionally, Mercy is supposed to be 24 during the first half of the plot, but she reads as someone much younger than 24. The insta-love she experienced with Josiah felt rushed, and I would've enjoyed it more if the bond between them was explored more over time. Another thing that felt rushed was the ending... the transition between that and the epilogue just didn't really make sense to me. Overall, the premise of the book was exciting, but it just fell flat for me.

I think this book is good for people who might like more "tame" (for lack of a better word) romance and historical fiction books. It's not heavy in world-building, and England in the 1660s is definitely easier to immerse oneself in than an unknown fantasy setting. I did notice that there were some religious themes that kept popping up, so maybe this will appeal to readers who enjoy that as well. Quinn's other novels seem to be popular, and maybe those would be more to my taste? But unfortunately, A Promise For All Time just wasn't my cup of tea.

I'll be honest, it was pretty cheesy, but it's a quick, leisurely read. The book is a fantasy romance, but romance prevails. The fantasy aspect of this book is more absent than present. It would be nice if it was explored more. The relationship between the main characters is quite cute and sweet, but it's too fast for me, I think it would be better if it was slower, if the relationship developed more naturally. The ending also felt a little rushed, but I still liked it and I'm glad it ended like this (I like happy endings). I would love to read the sequel. If you like romantic books and are looking for a relaxing read, give this a chance, you won't regret it.

I found this to be a bit bland to be honest. I can't fault the prose, characters or pace but the plot was nothing new. It just didn't excite me because I feel as though I have read this story countless times before, some of them even by this author.

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Paula Quinn’s Highlander series (The MacGregors, Children of the Mist and Highland Heirs). I went into this book thinking it would be similar to those with the time traveling as just a small plus - boy, was I wrong!

This book has all the workings of a great fantasy romance - magical items, prophecies and a love story for the ages. The story kept getting better the more it went on and kept me on the edge of my seat.

This book is very heavy on information and world-building in the first couple of chapters, but as a fantasy and romance reader, this was perfect for me.

This a must-read for any romance fans!

When I heard about this book I was immediately drawn in by the Outlander sounding story line! In present day, Mercy finds a dagger which transports her to the 1600s in England where she meets the Josiah Ashmore, the 7th son of the duke of Dorset. She quickly falls in love and accepts that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him... in the 1600s. However, just as they seem to be getting their happily ever after, Mercy is transported back to present day where she uncovers several mysteries and curses.

I wanted to adore this book but it ended up falling flat for me. I thought that the story moved too quickly, making it unbelievable. I wish that there had been more time between Mercy and Josiah to fall in love, rather than so suddenly. Many parts of the story felt unfinished and lacking in a rush to get to the ending.

Despite it not being my favorite read, and there being things that I wish were done differently in the story and writing style, I enjoyed the premise of the book. The curse and the connection between Mercy and Josiah was unlike anything I've read, making it unique and unsuspecting! Mercy needed a family of her own and was on track to find one with Josiah. I loved the details of them being connected over the span of time!

Overall, I wanted more from this read, but loved the general plot and many plot twists throughout!

Mix together some insta-love, a dagger cursed by a demon, time travel powered by an ancient family, and some spice, and you'll have A PROMISE FOR ALL TIME. I picked up this book hoping it would be an Outlander-esque romance, but this latest book by Paula Quinn was decidedly not that. It's definitely a fantasy-romance, with Christian themes and some confusing plot lines. While I admire Quinn's ambition with this story, I spent the majority of the book pretty lost and wishing some extra time had been spent to develop the fantasy portion of this novel. I actually spent the majority of the book just wishing there was more-- more character development, more dedication to creating a realistic romance between the two MC's, just... more.

Julia Quinn seems to be a well liked romance author, and I'm hopeful that this book will find its audience-- unfortunately I'm just not sure it was me this time around.
