This book has so many wonderful attributes: honest and flawed main characters with insecurities; foster children; adorable, cuddly cats; found family; loving, nosy neighbors; and all the books! But the heart of this story is about learning to love yourself, all of yourself, and letting others love you – scars and all.
I loved Rowan, Jack, The Little House, Edgar Allan Poe, and Harper Lee. And I absolutely adored all the charming neighbors, supportive family, and Rowan’s wonderful students. I also wanted to throw Dean in the garbage. Evie a little bit, too.
Watching Rowan and Jack grow both together and separately was beautiful to watch. They each make assumptions about the other that prove both true and false, forcing them to adapt and fill in the gaps as they move from adversaries to friends to confidants. It was heart warming to see, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I’m not huge on slow burns, but the author wrote this one beautifully. I think it was perfect for this couple. They fell in love gradually and without even realizing it as they each opened up to the other about themselves and their past traumas. I’m glad they were able to look past bad first (and second and third) impressions. I’m very glad it wasn’t instalove and that they didn’t have just one hurdle to overcome. They had multiple setbacks, some self-imposed and others externally, but they kept coming back to each other and were there when the other really needed them. They became each other’s comfort.
Overall, I greatly enjoyed the story.

TW: assault, cancer, death, child abuse (epilogue)

This book covers so many tropes! Enemies to friends to lovers, it is decently a slow burn…but it’s so worth it! I was absolutely pulling for Rowan and Jack the entire book. I felt like I was part of the writing process that Jack describes throughout he book, as I learned more about Rowan and Jack. The more I read, the more if felt like a mystery slowly being revealed. What absolutely made the book for me was the neighbors! Look no further if you're looking for a sweet, funny romance book.

Thank you to the publisher, author, & NetGalley for sending me this e-ARC.

I truly enjoyed this story. I was rooting for Rowan and Jack the whole time and I was so pleased with how it all turned out in the end. The writing is fantastic. You get both Rowan and Jack's POV through the story and the pacing is absolutely perfect. We learn about each of their pasts in pieces and it makes them both compelling characters that you want to see succeed. I also love any book that is somehow also about books and we get that through Jack's writing and Rowan's annotating. Overall, this is a great story and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweet romance books.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

Wow. This book was incredible, I adored Rowan and Jack's story and loved reading from both of their perspectives. The neighbours deserve an honourable mention, I loved them and the infamous "Vernon, no." line from Rose, that was amazing. There was a lot going on in this book which felt a little overwhelming at times but I think it was paced very well. Jessica Sherry did a great job at addressing multiple different issues such as disabilities, fostering, abuse and death, and Jessica dressed them all in a really tasteful and sympathetic manner.

I 100% recommend this book to everybody, it's amazing and I plan on reading the rest of Jessica Sherry's books as soon as possible.

4.5 but rounded up! so goood! i went through this book so fast! i loved the “enemies” to friends to lovers. i also love the love factor. the way he loves her and acknowledges his feelings. the way he gets angry when people talk about her. the way he would do anything for her.

i only have an issue with the epilogue. the marriage comment was out of nowhere and i feel as if we were robbed of a beautiful full circle engagement moment.

Oh my gosh!!! Yes No Maybe is my second read by Jessica Sherry and I felt the same immersive experience with this as I did with One Thing Better. The characters are so well-written and real that it's a struggle to think about anything else. I devoured this in one sitting and now that it's over, I'm annoyed at myself for reading it so quickly in less than 12 hours. I was rooting for Rowan and Jack the entire time and I'm off to find Jack's bonus epilogue on Jessica's website.

Thank you so much Jessica for allowing me to read Yes No Maybe before it publishes on 30th April. I can't wait for everyone to "read it as it's meant to be read. It's the only way to live in a story".

P.S. screaming at the Lt. Ben Wright cameo! I love a good throwback to an earlier book!

Thank you to Jessica Sherry + NetGalley for the opportunity to read this story in exchange for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own!

Gosh, I loved this book!! I thought the two main characters were so endearing and I couldn't put the book down. I love reading books about authors and writers, and book lovers and this one was totally on point! I really felt that both of the main characters were well planned and both had backgrounds that were tough to deal with and hard to open up about. The books has a few triggers including assault, death, abuse...but was intricately woven into the story so that you really had sympathy for the characters but was not so detailed that it was overwhelming to read. I also enjoyed the peripheral characters - the family, the neighbors, the people from the past - it was so clever how the author included them. There were a few times where I thought "I know where this is going" but I didn't! I liked that the author kept us on our toes in a romance novel when so often they can seem cliche and predictable. I read it in one sitting on a 5 hour car ride home and couldn't put it down. Excited to read more of Jessica Sherry's books!

Yes No Maybe was such a good read that takes you through the fun, emotional, often sad & wonderful journey of what you get when you put two completely different people in close proximity.

A secondary school teacher who teaches English but doesn’t believe in romance due to past relationships and life traumas and a best selling romance book author who is also a playboy as next door neighbors.

In summary Rowan who is the Teacher buys a new house after a disastrous proposal from her boyfriend and she becomes next to door neighbor with Jack who has lived on the street all his life and is also a best selling romance books author. They don’t get along at first as Rowan who has a visible scare on her face due to an incident when she was younger , doesn’t easily warm up to people and keeps them at arms length based off past experiences in relationships. She is anti romance and doesn’t believe that anyone will like her for who she is as her scare will always be the focus of unwanted attention.
The story takes you through the push and pull of their relationship as they navigate getting to know each other , understanding their diff views , becoming friends and how this then progresses further.

The neighborhood is also a close community of various characters who also add to the fun elements of the story.

I really enjoyed the style of writing as it kept me hooked on the story and also the ref to pop culture from music, books, tv which made parts of the story relatable. The characters were likeable and the story developed at a good pace. It was refreshing to read a book where the FMC wasn’t perfect externally she had her flaws and vulnerabilities but was still strong and smart. Jack the MMC was ultimate book boyfriend he wasn’t macho perfect and we get to see his soft and sensitive sides too which I loved. I could have happily read more chapters of Rowan and Jack.

This was my first time reading a Jessica Sherry book and I'm def now a fan and i want more.

Thank you Net galley and Jessica Sherry for the opportunity to read this book.

Found family isn’t my favorite by any chance of the imagination. However, I was rooting for both Rowan and Jack from the get-go. Overall this was such an endearing novel that it’s a quick read because you won’t be able to put it down!

This book pulled me out of my reading slump. I devoured it in just two days.

I absolutely adored not only the main characters but also the side characters. I especially related to the FMC, Rowan, a lot. The way she could be shy and insecure one moment, and confident and tough the next. I also love how she confronted people who talked bullshit about her. One of the things she said, "anger is destructive," really stuck with me. My heart aches for all that Rowan went through.

My favorite scene is when Jack and Rowan went on a date to a restaurant, and the way Jack handled people who were talking shit about Rowan's scar was both creative and thoughtful. READ THE BOOK AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!

I also want to commend the author for the way she handled trauma; it was so well-written. The story overall is incredibly well-crafted, with perfect pacing.

This book is such a found family trope. It's my favorite read of 2024 so far.

Wow! I just loved this one so incredibly much! The writing was beautiful and the story was well crafted and very interesting. I was rooting for both Rowan and Jack the entire time.

Rowan is a high school English teacher who suffered serious burns as a teenager that leave her noticeably scarred. When her boyfriend Dean proposes in a very public way, her response leaves their relationship on shaky territory. As he decides to leave for the summer to pursue his acting career, she buys and moves into a new home. Her new house comes with a whole community of neighbors, including a next door neighbor who is a famous romance writer named Jack. As the summer moves along, Rowan discovers a lot about herself and what she deserves in a relationship. She also learns that she is so much more than the scars she carries. Rowan and Jack fall for each other and the ups and downs of their story were so interesting and also felt real. I loved absolutely every second of it.

This was such a sweet, funny, and page turning story. Rowan and Jack were such great characters who grew, and were so well written. I truly enjoyed this one.
Rowan a teacher, Jack a writer. Pulled on my heart strings and also made me want to roll my eyes. I was rooting for them- and so glad of how the story ended- Rowan got everything she deserved.
Jack and his relationship with Devon was perfect- so well written.

So so well done.

Rating 4.5 stars

This is the second romance novel I've read by Jessica Sherry and it's another good one. Both Rowan and Jack are realistically imperfect and flawed characters. Part of the journey for the characters is not just finding love but also finding healing and acceptance for themselves. I also like that both main characters are depicted as strong and independent. There are enough romance novels out there where the woman is forced into the helpless damsel in distress mold. It's refreshing to see a romance novel with two strong characters developing a true supportive partnership type of romantic relationship.
I thought the pacing of the story was good. I liked how different chapters were from different character's viewpoints. The neighbors were great comic relief as supporting characters. It was cool how there were subtle connections to her previous novel, One Thing Better. If you've read the previous book you see the connections but if you haven't it doesn't take away from the story at all.
The only thing that pulled me out a little was the depiction of the foster care/guardianship situation with Sara. It's never that easy or quick.

I look forward to reading her next novel.

Rowan’s scars are a constant reminder of her past. And for her, they are also a reminder that she can never have the kind of relationship she dreams of. So settling for Dean is the safe choice, and it’s all she really needs, right? Then comes her new neighbor, Jack, who is grumpy and has a reputation as a playboy. But as Rowan gets to know him, she learns that first impressions aren’t everything. She’s suddenly conflicted between what she thinks she wants and what she thinks she deserves.

This story was such a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute I was swooning over Jack’s genuine sweetness, and the next I was nearly in tears from how Rowan viewed herself. Yes, No, Maybe has several of my favorite book tropes - enemies to lovers, love triangle, forced proximity. Can’t go wrong with those!

I will admit that Rowan’s stubbornness became a bit frustrating. I’m all for a slow burn, but the constant push and pull between Rowan and Jack because of her conflicting feelings felt extreme at times. Just when you thought she was finally ready to let Jack in, she pulled away again. Although it did leave a feeling of anticipation and kept me reading to see if they would get a happy ending.

This is the second book I’ve read by Jessica, and it did not disappoint. I love the deep messages that her stories represent. Her stories evoke much stronger emotions compared to the typically romance books, making them relatable to some of the most vulnerable readers.

Thank you to Jessica and NetGalley for this ARC, and the chance to share my honest review.

"Yes No Maybe" by Jessica Sherry is a delightful romantic comedy that explores the unexpected connection between two unlikely neighbors. Rowan Mackey, a teacher with a history of difficult relationships, finds herself entangled with Jack Graham, a bestselling romance writer and party-centric playboy, when they become next door neighbors. Despite their initial clashes, sparks fly between Rowan and Jack as they navigate their growing attraction while grappling with their own personal struggles and conflicting desires.

One of the highlights of this novel is the dynamic between Rowan and Jack, which is both charming and authentic. Sherry skillfully develops their relationship, allowing readers to witness their gradual transformation from adversaries to reluctant allies to something more. The banter and chemistry between the characters are palpable, making their journey towards love all the more engaging and enjoyable.

Additionally, Sherry's portrayal of Rowan's journey towards self-discovery and empowerment is both heartwarming and relatable. As Rowan confronts her past and reevaluates her priorities, readers are drawn into her emotional journey, rooting for her to find happiness and fulfillment on her own terms.

While the premise of the story may seem familiar, Sherry infuses "Yes No Maybe" with fresh energy and humor, keeping readers invested in the outcome until the very end. The novel is filled with laugh-out-loud moments, heartfelt scenes, and swoon-worthy romance, making it a delightful read for fans of contemporary romance.

Overall, "Yes No Maybe" is a charming and uplifting romance that will leave readers with a smile on their faces. With its lovable characters, witty dialogue, and heartfelt storytelling, this book is sure to capture the hearts of romance enthusiasts everywhere.

“Yes No Maybe” by Jessica Sherry is a romance story for sure, but so much more. I was reeled in from the very first chapter and stayed hooked to the very last page. Parts of it are typical—the initial dislike and then the increasing attraction between the hot grumpy playboy and the beautiful new schoolteacher neighbor. But both of these characters are flawed in different ways that take us beneath the surface and root for them as they come to discover who they are. I loved the accompanying storylines—recovery from trauma, creating a new sense of family, and especially the relationship between Rowan and her students. Ah, if students in real life could be so lucky to have a teacher like Rowan, I feel the world would be a much better place.

Many thanks to Net Galley and to Jessica Sherry for an ARC of this wonderful book. I’m looking forward to more books by this author in the future.

ARC Review:

When I saw this book on NetGalley, I liked the cover and when I read the description, my first thoughts was, "This looks like a cute story."

And certainly, there were cute elements. The neighbors, Rowan's students, her initial vibe - all cute.

But it's SO much more than that.

This story is sweeping. It's engaging. I was absorbed into it just like FMC Rowan was with MMC Jack's books. I couldn't put this down.

The story was complex, nuanced and full of depth. It took me on a journey, just as the characters themselves went on one -- of self-discovery, of trauma recovery, of what the meaning of love anf family is, of the complexities in this life that make us who we are and who we want to be.

As the grumpy-turned-devoted neighbor, Jack was everything I could have asked for in an MMC. Flawed and fabulous, I fell in love with him. I felt his growing affection for and longing for Rowan in an overwhelming way. His dedication to her gave me goosebumps more than once.

And Rowan -- she's the real hero of this story. Vulnerable yet strong in her own way, she overcame so much in so many ways. Those burns on her skin were indicative of not only the physical trauma she'd suffered but also the mental and emotional anguish she went through since the indicent...I felt it deeply.

Jessica wove this story beautifully. The sweetness, the insecurity, the strength and the flaws of these characters was palpable. I held my breath several times during several of the tougher plot twists (especially as it pertains to Rowan's scars) yet I couldn't stop reading.

I don't love comparing authors but for the sake of recommnding this book in the best way I know how, I'd liken this story to the work of Mariana Zapata -- a well crafted narrative, a lengthy yet deliberate journey, an extremely slow burn love story. Jessica SHOWED us every single bit of this story rather than TOLD us about it. We were in it with these characters from the jump and felt every single emotion possible with her beautifully crafted words.

You'll root for Jack and Rowan - seperately and as a unit. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll get angry as hell and emotional all the while.

I've never read Jessica's work before but I'm a fan for life now. I cannot recommend this book enough and everyone would be well served to pick it up when it releases on April 30. I feel better for having read it. I loved it so much.
