Found family isn’t my favorite by any chance of the imagination. However, I was rooting for both Rowan and Jack from the get-go. Overall this was such an endearing novel that it’s a quick read because you won’t be able to put it down!

Thank you to NetGalley and Jessica Sherry for the ARC of this book. All opinions in my review are my own.

This book pulled me out of my reading slump. I devoured it in just two days.

I absolutely adored not only the main characters but also the side characters. I especially related to the FMC, Rowan, a lot. The way she could be shy and insecure one moment, and confident and tough the next. I also love how she confronted people who talked bullshit about her. One of the things she said, "anger is destructive," really stuck with me. My heart aches for all that Rowan went through.

My favorite scene is when Jack and Rowan went on a date to a restaurant, and the way Jack handled people who were talking shit about Rowan's scar was both creative and thoughtful. READ THE BOOK AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!

I also want to commend the author for the way she handled trauma; it was so well-written. The story overall is incredibly well-crafted, with perfect pacing.

This book is such a found family trope. It's my favorite read of 2024 so far.

Wow! I just loved this one so incredibly much! The writing was beautiful and the story was well crafted and very interesting. I was rooting for both Rowan and Jack the entire time.

Rowan is a high school English teacher who suffered serious burns as a teenager that leave her noticeably scarred. When her boyfriend Dean proposes in a very public way, her response leaves their relationship on shaky territory. As he decides to leave for the summer to pursue his acting career, she buys and moves into a new home. Her new house comes with a whole community of neighbors, including a next door neighbor who is a famous romance writer named Jack. As the summer moves along, Rowan discovers a lot about herself and what she deserves in a relationship. She also learns that she is so much more than the scars she carries. Rowan and Jack fall for each other and the ups and downs of their story were so interesting and also felt real. I loved absolutely every second of it.

This was such a sweet, funny, and page turning story. Rowan and Jack were such great characters who grew, and were so well written. I truly enjoyed this one.
Rowan a teacher, Jack a writer. Pulled on my heart strings and also made me want to roll my eyes. I was rooting for them- and so glad of how the story ended- Rowan got everything she deserved.
Jack and his relationship with Devon was perfect- so well written.

So so well done.

Rating 4.5 stars

This is the second romance novel I've read by Jessica Sherry and it's another good one. Both Rowan and Jack are realistically imperfect and flawed characters. Part of the journey for the characters is not just finding love but also finding healing and acceptance for themselves. I also like that both main characters are depicted as strong and independent. There are enough romance novels out there where the woman is forced into the helpless damsel in distress mold. It's refreshing to see a romance novel with two strong characters developing a true supportive partnership type of romantic relationship.
I thought the pacing of the story was good. I liked how different chapters were from different character's viewpoints. The neighbors were great comic relief as supporting characters. It was cool how there were subtle connections to her previous novel, One Thing Better. If you've read the previous book you see the connections but if you haven't it doesn't take away from the story at all.
The only thing that pulled me out a little was the depiction of the foster care/guardianship situation with Sara. It's never that easy or quick.

I look forward to reading her next novel.

I was provided an ARC by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Rowan’s scars are a constant reminder of her past. And for her, they are also a reminder that she can never have the kind of relationship she dreams of. So settling for Dean is the safe choice, and it’s all she really needs, right? Then comes her new neighbor, Jack, who is grumpy and has a reputation as a playboy. But as Rowan gets to know him, she learns that first impressions aren’t everything. She’s suddenly conflicted between what she thinks she wants and what she thinks she deserves.

This story was such a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute I was swooning over Jack’s genuine sweetness, and the next I was nearly in tears from how Rowan viewed herself. Yes, No, Maybe has several of my favorite book tropes - enemies to lovers, love triangle, forced proximity. Can’t go wrong with those!

I will admit that Rowan’s stubbornness became a bit frustrating. I’m all for a slow burn, but the constant push and pull between Rowan and Jack because of her conflicting feelings felt extreme at times. Just when you thought she was finally ready to let Jack in, she pulled away again. Although it did leave a feeling of anticipation and kept me reading to see if they would get a happy ending.

This is the second book I’ve read by Jessica, and it did not disappoint. I love the deep messages that her stories represent. Her stories evoke much stronger emotions compared to the typically romance books, making them relatable to some of the most vulnerable readers.

Thank you to Jessica and NetGalley for this ARC, and the chance to share my honest review.

"Yes No Maybe" by Jessica Sherry is a delightful romantic comedy that explores the unexpected connection between two unlikely neighbors. Rowan Mackey, a teacher with a history of difficult relationships, finds herself entangled with Jack Graham, a bestselling romance writer and party-centric playboy, when they become next door neighbors. Despite their initial clashes, sparks fly between Rowan and Jack as they navigate their growing attraction while grappling with their own personal struggles and conflicting desires.

One of the highlights of this novel is the dynamic between Rowan and Jack, which is both charming and authentic. Sherry skillfully develops their relationship, allowing readers to witness their gradual transformation from adversaries to reluctant allies to something more. The banter and chemistry between the characters are palpable, making their journey towards love all the more engaging and enjoyable.

Additionally, Sherry's portrayal of Rowan's journey towards self-discovery and empowerment is both heartwarming and relatable. The novel is filled with laugh-out-loud moments, heartfelt scenes, and swoon-worthy romance, making it a delightful read for fans of contemporary romance.

Overall, "Yes No Maybe" is a charming and uplifting romance that will leave readers with a smile on their faces. With its lovable characters, witty dialogue, and heartfelt storytelling, this book is sure to capture the hearts of romance enthusiasts everywhere.

“Yes No Maybe” by Jessica Sherry is a romance story for sure, but so much more. I was reeled in from the very first chapter and stayed hooked to the very last page. Parts of it are typical—the initial dislike and then the increasing attraction between the hot grumpy playboy and the beautiful new schoolteacher neighbor. But both of these characters are flawed in different ways that take us beneath the surface and root for them as they come to discover who they are. I loved the accompanying storylines—recovery from trauma, creating a new sense of family, and especially the relationship between Rowan and her students. Ah, if students in real life could be so lucky to have a teacher like Rowan, I feel the world would be a much better place.

Many thanks to Net Galley and to Jessica Sherry for an ARC of this wonderful book. I’m looking forward to more books by this author in the future.

ARC Review:

When I saw this book on NetGalley, I liked the cover and when I read the description, my first thoughts was, "This looks like a cute story."

And certainly, there were cute elements. The neighbors, Rowan's students, her initial vibe - all cute.

But it's SO much more than that.

This story is sweeping. It's engaging. I was absorbed into it just like FMC Rowan was with MMC Jack's books. I couldn't put this down.

The story was complex, nuanced and full of depth. It took me on a journey, just as the characters themselves went on one -- of self-discovery, of trauma recovery, of what the meaning of love anf family is, of the complexities in this life that make us who we are and who we want to be.

As the grumpy-turned-devoted neighbor, Jack was everything I could have asked for in an MMC. Flawed and fabulous, I fell in love with him. I felt his growing affection for and longing for Rowan in an overwhelming way. His dedication to her gave me goosebumps more than once.

And Rowan -- she's the real hero of this story. Vulnerable yet strong in her own way, she overcame so much in so many ways. Those burns on her skin were indicative of not only the physical trauma she'd suffered but also the mental and emotional anguish she went through since the indicent...I felt it deeply.

Jessica wove this story beautifully. The sweetness, the insecurity, the strength and the flaws of these characters was palpable. I held my breath several times during several of the tougher plot twists (especially as it pertains to Rowan's scars) yet I couldn't stop reading.

I don't love comparing authors but for the sake of recommnding this book in the best way I know how, I'd liken this story to the work of Mariana Zapata -- a well crafted narrative, a lengthy yet deliberate journey, an extremely slow burn love story. Jessica SHOWED us every single bit of this story rather than TOLD us about it. We were in it with these characters from the jump and felt every single emotion possible with her beautifully crafted words.

You'll root for Jack and Rowan - seperately and as a unit. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll get angry as hell and emotional all the while.

I've never read Jessica's work before but I'm a fan for life now. I cannot recommend this book enough and everyone would be well served to pick it up when it releases on April 30. I feel better for having read it. I loved it so much.

Yes No Maybe by Jessica Sherry 4.5 ⭐️

“It’s love when home is no longer a place but a person, and that’s where you always want to be.”

This was my first Jessica Sherry book and I think it was a perfect introduction. Yes No Maybe follows Rowan, a highschool English teacher with large scars(both seen and unseen) and her journey to realizing that she is beautiful inside and out. Jack, our brooding male lead, helps her to discover this through actions more than words. I loved the dual POV and thought Sherry did a fantastic job depicting the struggles that these two went through. The found family introduced when Rowan buys the little house were the cherry on top of a sweet love story between two polar opposites. I laughed, I cried(multiple times) and I felt truly connected to Rowan through her insecurities. This is one that will sit with me for a while.

Thank you to NetGalley and Jessica Sherry for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

Format: NetGalley ARC ebook
Release Date: April 30, 2024
Read from: April 9, 2024 to April 10, 2024
2024 RG: 43/100

MCs: Jack Graham and Rowan Mackey

This was a first by this author for me (I had others of hers on my very long TBR). I signed up on NetGalley thinking it looked like a good, fast read and I was not disappointed. It was a fast-paced read (I read in 2 days) and I loved the characters and how Rowan’s character developed over the story.
The book opens with a “Yes. No. Maybe.” answer to a proposal. It continues to show her development towards loving herself scars and all and learning to not settle for less than she’s worth.

Jack Graham is a famous romance author living next door to Rowan. He is the party, playboy type who gets on her nerves. We get to learn more about him through the dual pov.
It progresses from there in a very sweet way that I loved.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
“We can’t help how people hurt us. We can only hope to be better people and for something good to come out of it.”

In “Yes No Maybe," Jessica Sherry crafts a heartwarming tale of unexpected connections and emotional growth. Rowan Mackey, a dedicated teacher with a talent for fixing things, prefers a quiet life away from attention due to past scars. When her boyfriend's public proposal goes awry, she finds solace in her dream of a safe future with Dean. However, fate has other plans as she crosses paths with Jack Graham, a bestselling romance author with a penchant for parties and a grumpy demeanor. Their initial clashes lead to an unlikely bond as Jack finds inspiration in Rowan's presence, sparking a journey of self-discovery and challenging choices about love and risk.
"Yes No Maybe" captivates from the start with its engaging premise and well-developed characters. Rowan's resilience and Jack's complexity create a dynamic and compelling relationship that evolves beautifully throughout the story. Sherry's writing style is both eloquent and relatable, drawing readers into the world of these characters and their intertwined lives.
One of the strengths of the novel lies in its portrayal of secondary characters and the theme of found family. The supporting cast adds depth and richness to the narrative, highlighting the importance of community and support in overcoming life's challenges. The exploration of Rowan and Jack's individual journeys, along with their growing connection, is handled with sensitivity and authenticity, making their emotional struggles and moments of joy resonate with readers.
The dynamic between Rowan, an English teacher, and Jack, an author, brings a delightful literary charm to the story. Their discussions about books and writing add depth to their relationship, showcasing shared passions and intellectual compatibility.
While the story maintains a strong pace overall, there are moments in the middle where the narrative slows down slightly. However, this does not detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the novel.
In conclusion, "Yes No Maybe" is a beautifully written romance that combines emotional depth with literary charm. Jessica Sherry's storytelling prowess shines through, offering readers a compelling narrative filled with heart, humor, and relatable characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a touching and engaging romance with a touch of bookish delight.

I absolutely adored Yes No Maybe by Jessica Sherry! This book is so sweet and deals with some heavier topics, but is nothing short of a beautiful love story between our classic literature- loving Rowan and brooding, romance novelist Jack… and I am a sucker for a brooding male main character! This story also has heavy themes of found family within the neighborhood of “The Little House,” and this truly was one of the highlights of the book for me. I do feel that sometimes there were a few too many things going on, which could be slightly confusing at times. However, I truly did enjoy reading this book and it definitely will not be my last Jessica Sherry book! Thankful to have been able to get my hands on an advanced reader copy of this!

Loved this!
It pulled me in at all the right places and kept me reading long into the night. Rowan and Jack… what can I say.. the perfect enemies (ish) to lovers. This is a new author for me but I’m off to read her previous work now!

I loved Yes No Maybe by Jessica Sherry. She hit the right notes of love, struggle, emotion and confusion that I love to see in a romance novel. Rowan finds her dream house, an adorable cottage that reminds her of her favorite childhood book, however it comes with nosy but lovable neighbors except for the one next door, he's a gruff, cranky popular romance author who is also incredibly good looking. Rowan is engaged, but her fiance has left to act for the summer, or has he left her after she botched the answer to his proposal? A beautifully presented, well written novel that I couldn't put down! Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a truly heartwarming experience, a sweet and emotional journey that captivated me from start to finish. Sherry’s skill in crafting relatable, vibrant characters and genuine, poignant moments made the book an unforgettable read, especially with Rowan taking center stage. Rowan’s character, with her depth, vulnerability, and growth, not only added layers to the narrative but also made her someone I deeply cared for, enhancing the story's impact. I was rooting from her from that zit popping til the very end! The blend of humor, heartache, and warmth in this book is truly special, making it a standout read that tugs at the heartstrings in the most beautiful way..
