Read the trigger warnings 🔴
Briar continues to get darker and darker with each book! This book brought Morgan back home, alone, navigating the castle in her brother, Arthur’s new court. This book spends more time in action then in limbo, I felt this was slower paced—but in the best way!
This book ATE, by the end I was heartbroken and falling for the villain—I don’t think we were supposed too. But here I am mourning all the loses this book had 😭
Morgan has finally accepted she misses Draven, wants him, needs him (took her long enough) and sees him as her mate and husband. The dream world they share = ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! When the concept was introduced in COC I did not grasp just how adorable but resourceful it would become.
Lancelet continues to be my favorite side character, her new demeanor is raw leaving her very harsh and cold AND she deserves to be!
I do not want this series to be over, I could stay in this world FOREVER. Briar has continued to build the plot, kept all characters at peak perfection, and magically addicting.
Thank you Briar Boleyn, Starwater Press, & NetGalley for the opportunity to read Empress of Fae.

I'm really learning that dark romantasy is not for me. If this series had skipped the lengthy, circular conversations about feelings, this could've been a tight duology.

Empress of Fae is book in 3 Briar Boleyn’s ‘Blood Of A Fae’ series. So far Briar Boleyn has proved to be a master of plot twist and ranging cliffhangers. I’d be remiss to say that had I not had the next books in such a series available, the cliffhangers alone, would have me spiraling down the many stages of grief. Thankfully each book quickly picks up right where it’s predecessor left off. You’re once again immediately submerged into this intoxicating Arthurian fae tale full of war, blood, love, and lust.
Empress of Fae brings us back to Camelot in the land of Eskira. Morgan has run from Draven after some revelations and heartbreak that our, still growing and grieving, Morgan has difficulty processing. Not to mention her singleminded drive to get back to her youngest brother Kayne.
Morgan has definitely shown some growth since this story began, and I’m glad to see it. This story focuses a lot more on the current politics and war mongering that Arthur has thrust upon the continent. We truly see the depths of evil and depravity that Arthur is capable of. As well as Morgan coming to understand her faults and mistakes in leaving the Court of Umbral Flames, and most importantly Draven, in such haste.
We’re introduced to some new and impactful characters in the plot. As well as the world of the dreaming. That’s all I’ll say on that front, other than…the steamy scenes were steaming. This book was the first in the series not to end in an absolute “what the…” cliffhanger. It did however elude to an epic battle to come. Excited to for the fourth and final installment in this series.
Special Thanks to @netgalley, @saltwaterpress, and @briarboleyn for the e-copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Miss Briar! Well done! The tension and chemistry, touch her and die, the magic, fantast, ALL of it! This was the easiest 5 stars for me to give. The connection I now have to these characters is ridiculous. I have been telling everyone to be on the look out! You have made a life long fan of me!!

This was a perfect follow up to the other books in the series. I was fully invested in the characters and now i am on the edge of my seating trying to figure out what will happen next.

Another thrilling page turner for me that I couldn't put down!
I loved the multiple POVs, that added more to the story, and I think they worked well considering the characters are apart for a lot of this book.
I also loved the relationship between Morgan & Draven strengthening in this one - I think Morgan's character development in particular was a really big part of this.
Not sure I'm ready for it all to end with book 4!!

- Dark Camelot
- Touch her and die
- Hidden identity| Found power
- Characters you love to hate
The 3rd in the series, this book had less action and more political events with traitors, betrayal and cruelty rife. The first 20% of the book was very conversational and felt like a lore dump with all the unanswered questions from book two finally getting answered or at the very least getting flesh on the bones. Having said that it still left a lot to be unravelled. I loathe more than half the characters, in the best way.
It's giving game of thrones but without the dragons.
As always check your trigger warnings!

“Yours is the only kingdom I'll pay fealty to. Yours are the only feet at which I'll willingly kneel.” He leaned back and touched my chin, lifting it. “I'd rather be a villain by your side than play the hero for anyone else. The world is dark and vile, but I'd willingly follow you into the depths of hell itself. All I want to do is shield you. Do you understand, Morgan? You're my redemption, good or bad, right or wrong.”
🫠 Swoon 🫠
Ok, what have you done to me?!! This book was epic! I had me the enthralled beyond what is imaginable!
I am so ecstatic that Morgan finally came to her senses regarding Draven! And those dreams, they were everything! Morgan has turned into such a badass female! Her journey has been heartbreaking at times; and, I fear, we haven’t seen the worst of it!
I just have to say, Arthur, such a despicable human!! He deserved everything he got, and then some!
This has been favorite book of the series so far! But the ride is about to end! On to the final book I go.
Thank you NetGalley and Briar Boleyn for the opportunity to read this!

"Empress of Fae" by Briar Boleyn offers a stirring continuation of the epic dark fantasy romance series surrounding Morgan Le Fay. In this third installment, Boleyn takes readers deeper into the enchanted realms of Aercanum, where Morgan Pendragon—now Morgan Le Fay—faces her destiny head-on. As Morgan grapples with her newfound powers and heritage, she stands at the crossroads of profound allegiances and potential enmities. The narrative masterfully blends elements of magical realism with the emotional intensity of an enemies-to-lovers trope, creating a complex tapestry of love, power, and betrayal.
The thematic exploration of identity and power is poignant, as Morgan renounces a predetermined path to forge her own, guided by her formidable abilities. Her return to Camelot introduces high stakes, not just for her but for all connected to the Rose Court. Kairos Draven’s relentless pursuit to reclaim his bond with Morgan adds a layer of desperate romance and highlights the indelible connection between the characters that transcends the physical and temporal realms.
Briar Boleyn's writing shines particularly in the intricate magic system and the vividly depicted magical creatures, which will indeed delight fans of noted authors like Sarah J. Maas and Jennifer L. Armentrout. This novel does not shy away from mature themes, providing an adult language and steamy scenes that contribute to its intensity and allure. The added caution of trigger warnings is a thoughtful touch, ensuring readers are prepared for the darker tones woven throughout the story. "Empress of Fae" is a compelling tale that promises to captivate and enchant its audience, leaving them eager for more of Morgan Le Fay's mystical journey.

Overall book: 5/5 ⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
First, I want to thank NetGalley and Starwater Press for giving me the opportunity to read this book. BRIAR BOLEYN HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! I absolutely loved this book! The adventure and war were everything. Meeting new characters and the continuous development of our already known characters was great! I’m so glad the location changes because I needed answers to some questions.
I absolutely despised Fenyx and am so glad he got what he deserved. The fact that Morgan and Draven can find each other in dreams 🥹 Some of the character deaths killed me (Merlin and surprisingly Orcades death hit me hard), but Lancelet being alive?!? I was SO happy I teared up when I read that part. Lancelet’s development throughout this entire series may be my favorite. She is so strong and brave and has dealt with some SH*T but she finds a way to make it through and I admire her for that.
Ugh this book has everything I could ever want from a book: adventure, romance, war, villains, heroes, some badass female characters. As well as the fact that Draven may becoming my new favorite book boyfriend 🖤🥰 I’m so ready to read book 4 but I also just don’t want it to end! 😫

↬ review: 3.5 stars ☾ ❦
everyone needs to buckle up because betrayal, surprising friendships, and a dash of magic and found family are just the beginning of the adventure in this book. the plot doesn’t mess around with its twists and turns. when you think you’ve figured it out, another surprise smacks you in the face. speaking of surprises, the character dynamics are as unpredictable as they come. betrayals and unlikely alliances keep you guessing, and the side characters? in this book, they’re not just background decorations but essential players in the grand game. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.
❀ main characters:
➵ morgan: the ultimate badass. she’s like a storm, fierce and unstoppable. though she didn’t do much in this book because of her being a ‘spy’ in her brother’s court, she still shines and has her girlboss moments. i really love her, and i’m so glad she figured out her feelings towards draven.
➵ draven: y’all need to hear me out because I LOVE THIS MAN, but was he supposed to be the main male lead in this book? my poor baby got lost in the shadows – i needed more of his perspective to balance things out. i wanted to jump between the two courts because my found family of the court of umbral flames was so underrepresented that it made me mad.
❀ love:
there was a lack of romance, and i'm crying. morgan and draven spent so much time apart that you started to wonder if they would ever going to get a chance to meet each other properly again in this book. i'm someone who needs their dose of romance, and it wasn't enough. i understood why it needed to be that way, and i also see that briar boleyn still gave us something to swoon over in dreams, but i wanted more love between all the chaos.
now, about that ending ... it's like reaching the finish line of a marathon only to realise you missed half the race. things wrapped up a bit too quickly, especially when it came to typing up loose ends with characters like arthur. a little more detail wouldn't hurt.
❀ conclusion:
i call this book "morgan's quest" because it was a rollercoaster of a fantasy that centres around morgan and her court. it still kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish because so many things happened without a pause. sure, it's got its quirks, but it was still an amazing adventure, and i can't wait to read the last book in the series. something tells me that i'm going to cry, but we'll see.
thank you, netgalley and briar boleyn, for the arc in exchange for my honest review. it means a lot to me, and i appreciate it.

So. Many. Unexpected. Plot developments!! I LOVED this follow-up. It is so refreshing to read about well-developed, strong, female characters that are not afraid to take up space while navigating complex, often heart-wrenching, situations.

Morgan left the Court of Claws and returned to Pendragon. In the temple she lears what happend during her absense and what her brother Arthur has brought over his people and his country. Also the Knights of the Round Table are formed in order to help Pendragon and to stop Arthur. One decision made by the groud is that they need a spy close to the king hence Morgan shall return to him. With a high price this can be arranged but the question is will Morgan be able to stop what already started?
Draven is not accepting that he lost his mate hence with a group of soldiers is on his way to Pendragon to help Morgan.
Wow, for me the story is getting better and better. I really liked to read here how Draven and Morgan both accept that they love each other and that this love makes them stronger, how they are there for each other. I really like how their story is changing and that it also takes time to regain trust and also to accept your own feelings. For me this is really well written.
In this book we are back to the konw story of Camelot and I really liked the idea who here is part of the Knights of the Round Table and how it was formed.
Also how a small group is working againg Arthur and his evel behaviar is put into a really good story line and also the idea how this happend, why Arthur changes to this horrible person is very intersting.
I can´t wait to read the next book of this series.

Loved everything about this book.
It was fast paced from the very beginning.
So much action and deception.
I literally could not believe it when I read who the traitor actually was. I was gobsmacked.
And Javer!! I hope we find out in the next book what he was doing all the time he was in hiding before he sacrificed himself to save Kaye.
I really want Morgan and Draven to raise little Medra as their own.
Time for book 4.

Absolutely loved the world building and the characters! I really loved the mixture of myth and legend with a twist! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Thank you Netgalley for an ecopy for review.
After learning of her past, Morgan Pendragon now goes by her new name, Morgan Le Fay claiming her true heritage. After winning her position as Empress over Sabria and learning she is the wife of the Prince of Claws, Kairos Draven, she leaves to save those she loves back home while renouncing her claim to the throne in Siabra. She begins to harness the power of her magic, but determining if it is enough to save her home from impending war brought to her home by her brother, King Arthur. This book is fairly quick paced, great for new adults. Ends in a cliffhanger!

This book immerses us in the enchanting world of Morgan Pendragon, now Morgan Le Fay. Rejecting a destined future, she flees the Siabra fae and the Prince of Claws, returning to Camelot to confront the perilous reign of Arthur. The intricate plot unveils political intrigue before intensifying in the final chapters. As the third installment in the "Blood of a Fae" series, following "Queen of Roses" and "Court of Claws," this book is a gripping continuation. The narrative skillfully explores Morgan's reunion with old friends, the evolution of relationships, and the emergence of new enemies. The communication between Morgan and Draven and the satisfying revenge adds emotional depth. I praise the author's writing, character development, and the inclusion of fantastical elements. The compelling plot leaves me eagerly anticipating the next book.

Fantastc follow up, the characters are brilliant but, the abrupt endings take away some enjoyment for me.

“I’m on my way to you, Morgan. Did you really think in a million years and a million lifetimes that I’d ever be able to stay away?” 🥹🥲
If you loved Fourth Wing/ Iron Flame and ACOTAR this series is for you! We love a dark king, shadow daddy, “touch her and die” vibe and the blood of a fae series checks all those boxes.
Each book has gotten better and better. I loved this book so much! The twist on the legend of King Arthur with fae and magic is done well. Morgan and Draven’s relationship is 😮💨. I was worried she would be annoying in this book (she annoyed me through book 2 because I felt like she was so dramatic and immature towards the end) but she redeemed herself!
This book has multiple POVs which was refreshing. It picks up right where you left off in book 2 without rehashing a lot of details. I was nervous there wouldn’t be any spice and Morgan would spend the entire book angry but I was pleasantly surprised and the method of keeping their connect was so creative! The action and excitement start right from the beginning and there were a lot of twists and turns along the way. I’m looking forward to finishing book 4 and seeing where the story ends up.
This is definitely one of my new favorite series! Thank you NetGalley, Starwater Press, and Briar Boleyn for an e-copy in exchange for an honest review 💗

This series has quickly become one of my favorites. Fast paced, high stakes, lots of little twists and turns along the way to keep me interested. I appreciate that these books pick up right where the last left off without too much rehashing and reminding us what happened before. Although I didn't like book three as much as book two, I am excited to get to book four and see how things play out.
