Court of Claws was WILD from start to finish and I loved every minute of it 🐍🔥

This one is darker, sexier, and even more intense than Queen of Roses. The stakes are higher, the spice is hotter 🌶️🌶️🌶️, and the claws (literal and emotional) come out.

The FMC is still that girl—strong, clever, and fighting to survive in a world that keeps testing her. And the love interest?? Whew 😮‍💨 Dark, dangerous, and 100% unhinged in the best way. If you like morally gray men with a possessive streak and a hidden soft side, you’re gonna be obsessed.

It’s got court politics, betrayal, steamy tension, and fantasy creatures that are just as terrifying as they are hot. Basically, if you liked Queen of Roses, you’ll be feral for this one.

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for an eARC of this series! 🙌❤️‍🔥

Briar Boleyn delivers a lush, darkly enchanting tale in Court of Claws, weaving together court intrigue, fierce heroines, and seductive danger in a fantasy world brimming with secrets and claws—both political and literal.

The story follows a strong-willed protagonist who’s thrust into a deadly fae court where survival requires more than cunning—though she has plenty of that. The enemies-to-lovers tension is palpable, and Boleyn balances steamy romance with sharp-edged power plays that keep the plot moving at a brisk, addictive pace.

What really shines is the atmosphere: velvet shadows, glittering gowns, and the constant sense that something—or someone—is watching. The worldbuilding is immersive without being overwhelming, and Boleyn’s prose walks the line between lyrical and fierce.

A few pacing hiccups and predictable tropes hold it back from a full five stars, but if you’re a fan of Throne of Glass or ACOTAR-style fantasy romance, this is a must-read. Looking forward to what comes next in the series.

This was the second to a book that I also got to review at the same time that I DNF. I loved the premise and the idea but unfortunately I am not a fan of the authors writing style.

"Court of Claws" by Briar Boleyn is a fierce, steamy ride through a world of danger, desire, and deadly politics. With captivating characters, sizzling chemistry, and nonstop twists, it’s impossible to put down. A perfect mix of dark fantasy and slow-burn romance that will leave you craving more.

Wow, what a fun ride! The angst, the yearning, the tension!! I love me a slow burn and this did not disappoint. I loved the character growth we saw for the FMC throughout the book. We really got to see her grow into herself and I can't wait to get more!

This book has more romance than the first book, and is also a good bit darker.
I'm not sure if Morgan is maybe a bit less likeable and quite whingy in this one.
It's in a different landscape too, which might influence the mood of it.

The Blood of Fae book 2 was good, though I did find myself being frustrated with the characters at times. Draven and Morgan still have me hooked though, I enjoyed it! The ending, wow!!

Bound to a man she hates more than she ever thought possible...

Everything Morgan Pendragon knows and loves is gone as she wakes in the dangerous court of the Siabra. The man she was falling in love with is dead, and in his place is a man she barely knows. Surrounded by liars and knives in the dark, all Morgan wants to do is run the other way but Kairos Draven is determined to keep her by his side.

As Morgan and Draven's lives become even more irrevocably entwined, little do they know the sins of the past are coming for them both…

I was really excited to start this book after finishing the first one. These books were so different in many ways. This second book is much darker than the first (I usually like dark romance/fantasy but this felt out of place in comparison to the previous book.) Also, the main characters, especially Morgan, were driving me nuts and their behavior was insufferable. The lack of character growth or communication I almost quit this book a few times in the beginning Fortunately, the story did pick up and get better as the book progressed. The second half of the book was much better. That being said, the ending made we want tot throw my books across the room and was so frustrating. I'm really hoping the next book picks right up at the end of this story. I need answers.

I was so relieved that this book didn’t fall victim to the dreaded book 2 slump that so often hits series. The action from the first book continued seamlessly, and the plot twists kept coming, giving the story even more momentum than the first. I did find this installment to be much more of an emotional rollercoaster than the first one. This book also introduces several new characters, all of whom are wonderfully written. There are villains you love to hate, new best friends, and even more found family—seriously, who can resist a talking bear? Draven has officially claimed the title of my new book boyfriend; he’s everything I adore in a male lead—dark, brooding, protective, lethal, and surprisingly soft on the inside. I couldn’t put this book down and finished it in a day. While the spice is still a slow burn, it does heat up a bit more in this book, so don’t give up if you’ve been waiting for it! As with the first book, this one ends on a cliffhanger, so be sure to have book three ready to go!

Court of Claws by Briar Boleyn is an exciting and immersive sequel in the Blood of a Fae series. The world-building is rich, the intrigue is gripping, and the tension—both romantic and political—keeps the pages turning. The characters continue to grow, and the stakes feel even higher this time around. While some plot points are a bit predictable, the fast pace and engaging writing make up for it. A solid 4 stars—magical, action-packed, and perfect for fantasy romance fans.

This second installment in Briar Boleyn’s Blood of Fae series had its moments, but ultimately fell short of my expectations compared to the first.
The story itself remained engaging, with a fierce and intense competition that was equal parts heartbreaking and gory. However, the narrative focus on Draven’s world felt a bit unbalanced, and I believe a split POV would have made more sense to fully explore both characters and settings.

The worldbuilding continued to be a highlight - vivid, immersive, and easy to follow without feeling overwhelming. The introduction of new characters added depth, though at times I found myself juggling too many names to keep track of.

Beks is such a little mischievous angel and is probably my favourite character in the book - I truly hope we’re able to see more of him in future books (please). Draven continues to be a delicious mix of sweet cinnamon roll with possessive, "touch-her-and-die" energy. On the other hand, I struggled with Morgan; while her frustrations were understandable, her reactions often felt inconsistent, leaving me with a bit of emotional whiplash.

The epilogue, however, reignited my excitement for the series and left me hopeful for book three - I’ll definitely be continuing this journey.

Another page turner for this series! I am obsessed with Morgan and Draven’s romance and the ride we’re on in this new kingdom.

I love all of our new characters we meet in court of claws! Found family, deadly trials, high stakes and enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers again and I’m here for it.

Morgan can be a bit annoying/immature in her decision making but she is becoming more self aware throughout the series. And I’m enjoying her development as she and the reader learn more about who she is.

The ending was perfect even though it left me yelling at my book, and sent me running into book 3!

Highly recommend you pick up this series! 🗡️🥀

I am unfortunately not into dark romance or dark fantasy so this book wasn’t aimed for me - I did appreciate the writing style though.

Thank you for allowing me to read a copy of this book.

Court of Claws by Briar Boleyn is the second book in the series. It is a bit slower than the first but is great at filling in backstory and introducing new characters! I am really enjoying this series! I can't wait to read more of Morgan's story as it starts to unveil!

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Court of Claws is the second installment within the Blood of a Fae series. In this, you will see a romance bloom between Morgan and Draven. Sure, it takes a while for that to start and then take off, but details. I have been waiting for this to happen and was so happy when it finally did.

Then I wasn't so happy because she now feels betrayed and has left. Ugh! I really wished she didn't and at least had his people—I mean, her people—help, but it's fine. It's completely fine. Anyway, while she's in Draven's land, she sees him go through these trials to become the leader of this people. She also makes some friends along the way, and that makes her stay a bit easier.

On top of that, there's so much death, cheating, and betrayal. Not cheating in a romantic way but cheating in the trial's kind of way. I also enjoyed getting to meet the people of Siabra and how Morgan held her own among them. I'm not a fan of her leaving Nightclaw behind, but maybe they will reunite in the next book.

Again, it's fine. So much happened, and I am so freaking happy with how this ended because my jaw dropped. I'm not sure what else these King Arthur retelling books will give me, but I'm so happy that I have the next book lined up. I need to see her reunite with everyone back in her own homeland. I need Arthur to suffer a horrible death. I also really need Kaye and Morgan to be reunited because he's just the cutest little brother and needs to be protected at all times.

In the end, I just need more and will eventually see how this will all end. Let's go kick some ass Morgan.

Thank you to Briar Boleyn, Starwater Press and NetGalley for the ARC to celebrate the final book in this series! So good for the second book of the series! Kept me hooked and was really hard to put down. Appreciated this book a lot more because of the character development, which was missing in the first book. This book really made me feel connected to the characters. Morgan was a little whiny and her moods seemed to change like the weather, so it was hard to always keep up with her. Overall great book and so much better than the first in my opinion!
