I had a grandfather who piloted B-19 bombers in WW2. It was he I thought of as I read the stories of these men, heroes despite their claims. This is the aptly named Greatest Generation and the reason for that name could not be more clear as you meet and grow to respect these "average jhoe's" who made all the difference. I cannot recommend this book enough.
