An interesting look at nearly everything you'd want to know about eyes and eyeglasses presented graphic novel style. Some of it seemed like filler, and I could have done without the Beryl comics, but kids will probably enjoy them.
Come with Caroline Stevan to learn about how eyes work and the history and improvements in eyeglasses! Well done!
The illustrations by François Vigneault are fun, simple, brilliantly colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school, church library, vision care office, or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Helvetiq via NetGalley. Thank you! Available Sept 10, 2024
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC for me to review.
This is a very comprehensive book on vision not just eyeglasses. It gives you the history of eyeglasses as well as eye disorders and information on animal vision. There is also included some quizzes, comics and a maze. I could see checking out this book for a child that was just prescribed glasses.
Extraordinary Eyeglasses is a great book for children and adults alike, the illustrations are a delight and the information is accessible and interesting.
The learning aspect of the book makes the prospect of glasses less daunting for children and the addition of puzzles and quizzes is a good way to engage any child!
I also very much enjoyed the adventures of Beryl who features through the book.
This will be An excellent addition to our children’s non fiction collection.
