Alright, it's time to admit it. I'm totally a SurgarBaeby!!! I love our cinnamon roll August!! So sweet and giving and gentle and trying to do the right thing!! And Sloane...Sloane is amazing. So good at her job and knows her own worth and determined to make her own way in this world. I loved this book!!

It's hard not to love and mmc like August, football player who loves to bake?! This was a slow burn in which the characters have known each other for twelve years. It had moments that were definitely cheesy but as a romance lover, I kind of like those moments. Sloane was not my favorite fmc, but overall a fun light read.

I loved A Legend in the Baking and the characters Sloane and August. Their complicated lives and found family add depth, and both grow as people, which sets up their new relationship nicely. The story is sweet, fun, and unique with football players who bake cupcakes—definitely worth a read!

I started this book on June 2, 2024 and I finished today and this book was so and honestly not very interesting so I am not sure why I pushed myself finish. At time I felt like I was reading a YA due to the inner dialogue and some parts were childish.
I definitely did like Fake it Till You Bake It more!

Second chance
brother's bff & little sister
open door romance
This was a cute read! Thank you for this arc, Jamie!!
“It was like she wore a beacon only he had the right frequency for.”
“her August radar had always been finely tuned.”

I was so excited when I got an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
But I enjoyed the first book in the series a lot more! I had trouble connecting with our main couple and found me liking the past time line more then the present.

This was a humorous and enjoyable read. The main characters were likeable and the plot relatable in many ways.

My rating does reflect my enjoyment of the book, however, I will be withholding my review for this title in solidarity with the St. Martin’s Press boycott.
I will be withholding all reviews for St. Martin’s Press titles until the publisher meets these conditions:
• Address and denounce the Islamophobia/racism from their employee.
• Offer tangible steps for how they're going to mitigate the harm their employee caused.
• Address how, moving forward, they will support and protect their Palestinian, Muslim, and Arab readers, influencers, and authors in addition to their BIPOC readers, influencers, and authors.
St. Martin’s Press is one of my favorite publishers and I hate that I cannot promote their books because they won’t speak up and address our concerns.

This is a really cute second chance romance. I loved that guys were doing the baking!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for this tasty treat packaged as a fun romcom romance! A Legend in the Baking gave strong grumpy sunshine vibes along with the best friend's sister crush trope we all love. August and Sloane have a lot of chemistry and this book has both slow-burn and spicy elements. Excited to continue reading this series and see what’s next from this author!

Given that I enjoyed the first book in this series - I will admit I didn't realize this was part of the series when I picked it up to read - I was expecting more and just felt, well, disappointed. The characters were fine, and their romance was nice. But there were elements that just didn't work for me. First, it felt a little stalker-ish on the part of both August (mainly) and Sloane the way they related to each other and circled each other for a lot of the book. And as a social media manager, it was hard for me to really embrace Sloane's social media expertise because it felt, well, very amateur-ish and exploitative. Which made it hard for me to then get into the story of the viral moment that catapulted Sloane and August back into contact.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a horrible romance. And maybe it just hit at the wrong time for me. And I did actually grow to like both characters - not the case for the romance that I'm currently reading where I absolutely loathe the two mains - rooting for them to find the HEA.
So, while it wasn't a bad book and was a decent follow up on the first book, it also didn't rock my world or make me really want to pick up the next in the series. Which will definitely be coming.

I want to start off by thanking Netgalley and the Author for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely adored this book. The Banter ? LOVE. The romance ? LOVE . The way this book has me giggling and kicking my feet ? LOVE .
In case you couldn’t tell , I enjoyed this book lol. This book is about our Main characters August and Sloane , August is a popular football player who is co-owner of a cupcakery called Sugar Blitz . Sloane is a social media manager and she is helping out Sugar Blitz after August accidentally going viral online.
You should definitely read this book if you’re looking to get some romcom experience and just have a good time while reading .I kept on wanting to read this book in one sitting but life duties call or else I would’ve finished it in one sitting!!

3.5 stars

Finding that unique twist in a story is a must for any author whose book wants to stand out. This author is new to me and she chose something totally off the cuff – football players, who love to bake cupcakes? Are you kidding me?
Not only is it unique but the story was sweet and fun. I love the male characters the most. They were perfectly blended and the author added so many layers to their characters. It was hard not to enjoy them all. August was a sweetheart.
As far as Sloane, the female lead, I liked most of her character. There were a few things that annoyed me with her quirks. But this second chance romance definitely stood out with an abundance of mooning over him and reliving the past. Silently hard-crushing was much of the topic for the middle of the story.
My favorite part of this book is the ending where we finally get the goods. The guy gets the girl; the girl gets the guy, and it’s a warm, fuzzy ending. The additional characters from the neighborhood bring levity and more twists to the story.
Much of the story is about regrets and memories, but the ending makes the book. Wesley digs deep for the unique twists and quirks that make A Legend in the Baking a fun story to check out!

I thought this one was ok
I liked Fake it to you bake it better because one of my fav romance is enemies to lovers storylines and i liked the banter between Jada and Donavan story better. However, I did enjoy A Ledgend in the Baking second chance romance between Sloan & August this one was a slow burn I think thats why i didn't like it as much as the first one. I adored August though his storyline

I really loved the premise for this book. I loved that the writer took out some of the usual complications that you'd see in a typical romcom, so there's sophistication in the idea for the story there. I just really struggled with the writing style. It's very easy to read, but at times, the dialogue felt stilted (just one example: the number of times the guys said "dude" was a bit much for men in their 20s in 2024) or not well edited (example: actually putting the acronym NSFW in the narration). Add a slow burn on top of that, and I did not feel motivated to keep going. I think if the heat had picked up earlier, I wouldn't have minded the writing style much at all. I think this story really did have potential, though. I'm happy for everyone who was able to enjoy it! I liked these characters and the idea!

August is a football player cupcake baker! Yup you read that right. August is one of three owners of a new famous cupcakery called Sugar Blitz. He accidentally gains attention and goes viral when he states that men can and should bake too and discusses toxic masculinity and feminism.
Enter Sloane, his partner’s younger sister and former friend sorta (they have history basically. She’s a social media maven and knows how to take this fiasco and turn it into gold with the opening of their second bakery. She also has a longstanding crush on August that she won’t really admit to herself.
Through the ups and downs of opening Sugar Blitz 2.0 August and Sloane rekindle their relationship and love for one another. Sloane takes the reins and does everything possible to make the men at Sugar Blitz look good amongst the new community bakery location and so much more.
This book is defiantly a cute and easy read.
I look forward to Nick’s story now

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for this deliciously fun romcom romance! This series had me at "Three Pro Football Players Open a Cupcake Shop." 😂 A Legend in the Baking has grumpy but actually shy/sunshine vibes along with the best friend's sister/had a crush on each other for years tropes that I love. August and Sloane have a lot of chemistry and this book has both slow-burn and spicy elements.
I can't wait to read the first in the series.

Unfortunately this book was just not for me and I did not finish. Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read.

I loved this book and Sloane and August. I love that they have complicated lives and have found family in the people that matter to them. I love that in this book both Sloane and August grow as people which gives them a good start to their new relationship. I appreciated the spiciness as well. I didn't realize this was the second book in this series so I just went and bought the first ebook. I will definitely be reading more books by this author.

Just finished reading “A Legend in the Baking” by Jamie Wesley.
We know from the beginning that Sloane and August have the hots for each other - so begins a “slow” burn.
The book is cute - there are a few side stories going on which all intertwine for both to realize they like each other and it’s not one sided.
I did enjoy this book and would recommend.
