4.25 stars!
Thanks to NetGalley, William Morrow, and Darby Kane for this ARC and chance to give my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this wild ride of a story so much. The plot, the back stories, character building - all made for a great read. Twists and turns I did not anticipate. Very original and unique in my opinion. I also loved that all loose ends seemed to be tied up at the end. I didn't end with questions or holes. Well written!

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. I’m a little on the fence. I was all in for most of the book and then felt the ending was a little weird. There were twists, which I love in a thriller, but something didn’t land quite right for me near the end. Give it a try, maybe it’s just me. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced reader’s copy.

I tried to tread this but ended up not finishing. I found the beginning to be boring and I couldn’t get myself to care for the characters.

I was very excited for this book, but it fell so short for me. I loved the idea of trying to figure out why the wife wanted to kill her husband and who best her to it. The execution just was not there. And the ending? I get that things didn't get physically intimate, but it was bad enough when I thought Richmond was her Uncle let alone her Dad. Just so much ick.

What the Wife Knew is a bonkers story from Darby Kane!
"Dr. Richard Dougherty is a world famous surgeon who is dead from a fall down the stairs. His much younger wife, Addison, is now a very wealthy widow. Except that everyone thinks she did it. And they come after her violating her space and even physically assaulting her.
The thing is that Addison wanted to kill him...but someone beat her to it. And now she needs to know who."
Run, don't walk, to a bookstore for this book. I could not read this book fast enough. It's one of those books. You think you know where it's going but no - DK is taking you somewhere else. And the scene where a character comes totally unhinged is just nuts - lots of reveals. And just when you think the twists are over - here's another one. It was remarkable how DK kept throwing connections into the story. So many - "WAIT, WHAT?" moments.
Lots of secrets, dysfunction and toxic relationships. Going to be one of my favorite thrillers this year.

I was so excited to get accepted for an e-ARC on a Darby Kane book - and I was pleasantly surprised by the experience.
It was a very entertaining and quick paced read. I love when a thriller starts at the end and you as a reader and the characters have to go through and find out all the twists and turns together. Throughout a majority of the book, it was difficult to decide who was the guilty party that murdered Addison's husband, a well-known surgeon. Many truths come out and turn the police to look at Addison, but she knows that she did not murder him.
The only reason I gave this a 4 star instead of 5 stars because the ending seemed rushed and a little disappointing since I had begin to guess what was happening throughout. I cant wait to pick up Kane's next book and recommend this for those that enjoy psychological thrillers.
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow Paperbacks for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you’ve read the last Mrs Parrish series then you’ve already read this book, it’s perfectly fine but a carbon copy of Liz Constantine’s book.

I absolutely loved What the Wife Knew by Darby Kane! This book was one hell of a wild ride, full of fun twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t expect half of what came my way, and those last few pages? Mind-blowing. The pacing was perfect, and Kane truly knows how to build tension and suspense.
I'm not the type of reader who wants to guess the "whodunit" along the way— I want to be led on the journey, and Kane did just that. The author skillfully guided me through a rollercoaster of emotions, leaving me with my jaw on the floor at the end.
This story was seriously screwed up in the best way possible, and I couldn't get enough of it. From the complicated characters ( I would like to hug Elias, Addison, Portia and Wyatt please) to the shocking revelations, it was such a thrilling experience. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, don't miss out on this one—it’s a ride you won’t forget!

4.5 stars rounded up.
This was a highly entertaining read with a quick pace and no shortage of bad guys.
The only reason this wasn’t a 5 star was that there was something about the vibe of Addison at the beginning of the book. It felt too harsh, too on edge, though in retrospect, it was probably perfect!
What the Wife Knew had twists, none of which were the ones I thought I knew about. (Though even that twist was more in depth than I had imagined!) Overall, a really compelling book that was wholly enjoyable.
Advanced reader copy provided by William Morrow and NetGalley but all opinions are my own.

I love the books the Darby Kane writes. Great psychological thrillers. This one was no different...although...it was like watching a fight and getting whiplash! So much back and forth!
So many characters, turn into so many suspects! An ex-wife, kind of creepy children, police officers, attorneys, so much to keep track of! All worth it for the ending that I didn't see coming! An absolutely delightful murder mystery.

thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this advanced copy. Dr Dougherty is a respected physician and a national hero. So when he has an "accidental" fall down the stairs, eyes fall on his widow, now rich. I got super mad at the characters, and was very deep into this plot. Good thriller!

While I did not relatively like any of the characters - I was still very invested in what was going on and what was going to happen next. This was my first Darby Kane book. So as someone with no prior knowledge or backstory I went in totally blind and I'm not sure if that was a good thing or worked against me. At times it felt like a trauma dump mess, however books about feminine rage are my favorite genre so I did eat this one up. I would think this would be great for a book club of sorts.
Thank you to William Morrow and Netgalley for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for an advanced copy of this book. I am leaving an honest review.
I was thrilled to see Darby Kane had another book out, as I loved the first one! This was another twisty ride. I adore the way this author develops characters, and the surprising turns of the plot. Leaving this vague on purpose to avoid spoilers, but a great thriller read.

Wow! I’m still divulging what happened in this book and how twisted these people were. This book kept me guessing from the start, really hard to put down unfortunately life happens and I had to take breaks in between my reading but I would have finished this in one sitting.
Now for the summary: renowned surgeon and hero to a tragic shooting of his family, Dr Richmond Dougherty created the life he wanted but ends up dead. He was forced to marry someone to avoid his secrets getting out & exposing his true self. Addison is his very rich widow with a sketchy past due to her mother’s doing.
This was a whodunnit from the beginning full of twists and tons of family drama. The ending was a bit disappointing but overall an amazing read. I will be reading more from this author. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read my first Darby Kane book.

I have read all of Darby’s books and this one is a new favorite! Addison was likeable and Richmond was the villain I needed him to be. The twists were so good and I absolutely loved the ending.

Struggling to review this one. I really liked the first halfish of the book. The pieces were all there. I enjoyed the POV of the second wife. But the second half was a struggle for me. I did not like the POV of the person killed. I did not like anything about him. I did not like Addison, the second wife's, pov anymore. The pieces were all over the place and the story just felt ridiculous. There were too many twists and turns and it no longer felt realistic and enjoyable. I am tough on thrillers though, so maybe try this for yourself? Dr. Daugherty is a famous surgeon, tragedy survivor and hero. Of course Addison, the new second wife, is the prime suspect when he is found dead. But Addison receives a note of her own - will she be able to walk away as a rich widow?
Thank you Netgalley for my advanced reader copy.

I usually love this author's books, but this one wasn't for me. I found it slow and the characters were unlikeable.

This was my first read by this author and I quite enjoyed it. A few very nice twists and turns made for a book that I read in nearly one sitting as I wanted to see where the author would go with the information she was gracing us with. Not always an easy read, I loved the interactions with the kids and of course Elias as he was both a mystifying and a satisfying character. Murder, mayhem and who done it. I have absolutely no qualms about reading this author again.

Darby Kane is definitely an author to watch if you want well developed characters and twisty storylines! This book was no different! Addison marries Richmond, a renowned surgeon. And by renowned, I mean rich. Great, right? Well, Addison actually blackmailed Richmond into divorcing his first wife and marrying her. Addison and Richmond don't even like each other. Huh? Well now he's dead and Addison is obviously the first and only suspect. Holy Moly! Hang onto your hat for a wild and crazy ride. So many unreliable and unlikeable characters! Very dark and twisty. I grew up when night-time soaps full of characters you love to hate were the things to watch on TV and this definitely took me back! What fun! highly recommend this book and author!
Thank you to #NetGalley, Darby Kane and William Morrow for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
I will post my review to Amazon, Facebook, Instagram and other retail and social media sites upon publication day of Dec 10, 2024.

This started with promise. Then it kind of fell flat for me in the middle. And the end? The last twist was a bit ick.
Kind of an up and down book. Not sure it’ll be very memorable. I don’t know if I’d recommend this to others.
I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
