Unfortunately, while entertaining and attention-keeping, this was mostly a huge mess and one big trauma dump. Characters’ motivations were never fully fleshed out. The whole purpose of the marriage between Richmond and Addison still does not make sense to me. Setting was poorly depicted. Major events were drawn out for a long time. There were short chapters but chapters ended and began at very odd times, making the practice very unnecessary. Twists were piled upon other twists diluting any kind of shock value that could be had. This just is not a thriller I would recommend.

You know what I've been loving lately? Books about feminine rage. Women out for vengeance and getting it. What the Wife Knew is this times 10. It starts out with a death of a husband. A "renowned pediatric surgeon. Childhood hero. Infamous tragedy survivor." But he deserved death. How did he get there and who brought him to his early demise?

This is a story of a woman out for vengeance against a horrible man. Who just so happens to be her husband. But who got to her husband before she did? Told in dual POV and with parts of the past interspersed with the present, this domestic thriller is exciting, fast paced, and filled with characters that aren't always likable.

"You can only push a man so far before he shoves back. Enjoy your win. It's temporary."
"But ruining you will be forever."
"Be careful what you wish for."

Addison has been married to her husband Dr Richmond Dougherty for only a few months when he falls to his death in their home. Of course Addison is suspect number 1 as all spouses are. And their marriage seemed to come out of nowhere. But don't count out other people in this man's life because he seemed to have a lot of 'balls in the air'.
His first wife, Kathryn who is the mother to his two children wants to know who killed her ex- husband as they ended their marriage quite abruptly before he married the younger Addison. She wants answers AND his money.
And those are only the wives. What about the other women he scorned? What about his children that he left behind with his first wife? What about the lawyer that always seems to turn up at the most opportunistic of times? What about his colleagues? What about the person that keeps messing with Addison?

Although this book wasn't filled with likable characters, I have to say that I enjoyed Addison and her snarkiness most of all. She didn't hold back and held a strength about her that gave her power in most situations. She didn't care that she was a suspect, but she would be no victim.

Darby Kane dropped us right into a story of "the rich behaving badly" and did it with characters that are all questionable and not exactly likable in the traditional sense. This story was filled with layers and twists that keep coming until the very end. Just when you think you've figured it all out, there is another piece revealed. The shorter chapters makes it easy to stay engaged and to appreciate the way everything came together in the end. Although some aspects of the story were a little far fetched (and perhaps disturbing) in the end, I really enjoyed the whole ride. Revenge domestic thriller for the win!

This is such a twisted book. You will be unraveling what happened right up to the end. The only thing that I will say about this book is that the reveals take longer to unravel than the murderer. I felt like that got drawn out a little bit too much. Which is mostly a pacing issue. When there are over 40 pages left after the main mystery is solved, I get a bit concerned. This was the only downside that I had with this novel, otherwise readers are going to enjoy unraveling the twisted tale that leads to Addison marrying Richmond, and why Richmond ended up dead.
Thank you so much to William Marrow and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.

Addison married Dr. Richmond Dougherty, but their marriage is very brief. After a fall down the stairs, he is dead. Addison is now a rich widow and the prime suspect in Richmond’s death.
This is an entertaining domestic thriller with some twists that I wasn’t expecting. I found myself rooting for Addison, but also shaking my head at her at times. The plot is fast paced, and I enjoyed the short chapters. I would definitely recommend this book. Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for this ARC!!

Righteous, homicidal, female rage it totally my jamb right now, and Darby Kane delivers in spades! Our gal's hubby ends up dead and this throws a monkey wrench in her plans, since that was supposed to be HER job. Who is trying to frame her for the murder she DIDN'T commit?

Darby Kane writes with a consistency that most cannot match.
Her style has an ease to it that lulls the reader into a state of comfort that amplifies the surprises she has in store.
Addison Dougherty is a force. I adored her character. The strength, honesty and tenacity she brought to each and every obstacle was refreshing.
I had my suspicions about who killed Richmond and was surprised at every turn. The cast of characters is well developed.
Another great novel. I recommend to anyone who loves a twisty thriller.

I loved this! So fun. It was suspenseful and thrilling. I honestly didn't see the ending coming. Loved it! Will definitely read more by this author.

Not a bad read. It was once again a book for me with no likable characters. The best I can say is that Addison has a bit of a redemption arc there at the end. Just a solidly okay read for me with no real plot twist.
I received a ARC of this title, all opinions are my own.

I truly loved Pretty Little Wife and couldn’t wait to read the newest by Darby Kane.

The beginning of this book had me hooked instantly! What an interesting premise and follow through. Like… whaaaaaaat?!? I was enthralled and turning pages like crazy. Before I knew it, I was 3/4 through the book!

The whole school shooting hero story was FANTASTIC! I loved how it turned into a mystery through all the drama as well.

The last quarter was interesting, but just a little weird for me. Some twists were strange and just felt unnecessary, I guess. It took me a week to read that last part.

I do suggest reading it because it’s pretty entertaining!

This book starts out with a bang! I was hooked right away, but then it was twist, after twist, after twist. So much that my head was spinning and at the end it took me a minute to decompress. It’s not really a “believable” story as it’s outlandish, but if you are into twists get this one now! It was just a little OTT for me! Liked her others better.

TW: mentions of school shooting.

This was my first read by Darby Kane. I was interested to read this book because I saw so many good reviews of one of her previous books - Pretty Little Wife.

I love a book about rich people behaving badly. This one was no exception. The main character has entered into a marriage with ulterior motives. We are not sure what she hopes to get out of it and we chip away as we go through the book. When the husband turns up dead, his new wife is the number one suspect. In order to clear her own name, she must try to find his killer. The book is told in multiple perspectives and timelines. I enjoyed the book and the ending was different than I anticipated. My one critique was that at times, I had trouble keeping straight which chapters were from each perspective.

This book kept me hooked from start to finish. STRONGLY recommend that you give it a read!

When Adison married Dr. Richmond Dougherty, a beloved surgeon and hometown hero, she had every intention of making his life miserable. Hell, she even thought she’d kill him. But when someone else beats her to it, and she is the main suspect for the murder, her world gets thrown into mass chaos.

It could be anyone: one of Richmond’s colleagues, any of the people in town who hate Addison (which is practically everybody), his ex-wife, one of their children … but figuring out whodunnit doesn’t prove to be as easy as Addison hoped.

This story has suspense, twists and turns, grand reveals, the works. You think you know how it’s going to end up, but let me tell ya … you truly have no idea. Up until the very end, Kane keeps you on your toes.

This was such a fun read! I love a good revenge story and this one did not disappoint.

Addison blackmails Richmond to marry her with the promise that she will take him down if it’s the last thing she does. She has one goal…ruin his life and take everything from him. But someone kills him first and now she is a suspect.

This was so interesting and different from anything I’ve read. I really didn’t know who was the killer as there were so many suspects in the mix. I liked how the author kept me on my toes and packed it full of action.

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for my advanced e-copy in exchange for this honest review.

I'd give this 4.5 stars because I really enjoyed it.

Summary:
Jumps from past to present. Past being while Addison is married to Dr. Richmond Dougherty, which only lasted a little over three months, and present being the ongoing storyline after his murder. Don't get it twisted, Addison wanted Richmond dead, but she wasn't the one who killed him. Her devious plot by her mother that she is emotionally blackmailed into fulfilling leads to Addison marrying Richmond, through threat of her own blackmail against him, force a divorce to his current wife, taking all his money, and then ruining his reputation, then her mother would come in and make Richmond disappear. Well, her plan does not go according to plan because Addison finds Richmond dead at the bottom of the stairs before she was able to follow through. His ex-wife is nothing but skeptical and continuously is blaming Addison for his murder. She's insufferable, to be frank. Her son, is not much better but her daughter, is an alright kid. Addison is threatened, attacked, and her mother resurfaces causing a whirlwind of more drama to continue.

Feedback:
I read the whole book but I didn't totally understand what the blackmail that Addison's mother had against her. All I understood was that she killed someone with a knife as a child and her mother covered it up. However, I don't believe it was ever fully explained what happened there. If it was, it wasn't memorable enough for me to recall it now.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC opportunity!

Wow. This book was so well written, and the twists never stopped. Not until the very end.

I clocked who killed him pretty early on, but i think that was the point. But there was alot i never saw coming. Her mother’s involvement and how she was connected? Did not see that. Kathryn’s involvement? I didnt know it got that deep.

This book gives you so many twists and turns and ia exactly what i want from a good mystery thriller!

The opening scene of this book was very intriguing and left me hooked on wanting to know who was who and who did what. I really enjoyed the development of characters and appreciated how unlikeable some were. I appreciate when an author makes me feel anything, including dislike, as it shows good writing and allows me to discover different perspectives. I also appreciated that the storyline was different from many others in the same genre and found the twists to be a fun and unexpected ride.
