Such a good book with a lot of exciting twists. It took me a bit to catch up with all the characters and get up to speed with the whole story but once it clicked, it was hard to put down! This kept me on my toes up until the very end

I enjoyed this mystery. This story reminded me of how much I enjoy reading mysteries.
There are so many liars in this book that no one can be trusted. The book was fast paced with unlikeable characters.
It is a great read, recommend.

This book got me out of a reading slump! I really enjoyed Darby Kane’s first book and I’m looking forward to reading more by this author! Such an interesting premise!

I was so into the first half of this book. Then…I wasn’t. Instead of the shock value it was trying for, it was cheesy and a little disgusting. The twist was NOT my thing.

I have liked so many of this authors works. This was no exception. I thought it was well written and really clever.

What the Wife Knew by Darby Kane had me intrigued in the beginning. Richard, a hometown hero and pediatric surgeon, dies under mysterious circumstances... and all eyes are on his new wife, Addison. A short marriage, two “accidents,” and now she’s a rich widow... so things are looking suspicious. Throw in a vengeful ex-wife, shady law enforcement, with Addison’s cryptic plan to take down Richmond’s legacy... and you’ve got the makings of a juicy domestic thriller.

At first, I was hooked. I even added all of Darby Kane’s books to my TBR because the writing style was just that good. But after about 50% in, I was over it. There was just too much happening, and Addison’s repetitive inner monologue didn’t help. The twist at the end? Completely over the top and just... IDK, you'll have to read it for yourself.

This was just an okay read for me, but I can see why others might LOVE it. I’d still check out Darby Kane’s other books because the writing itself was pretty solid.

A wife is trying to figure out who tried to kill here husband twice before they succeeded. Because that was her job. His newest wife, Addison, was only married for 97 days and is now very wealthy. She finds a note on her pillow telling her she will pay.

There are so many liars in this book that no one can be trusted. The book was fast paced with unlikeable characters and lots of day dysfunctional family dynamics.

Thank you to Darby Kane, William Morrow Paperbacks, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so addictingly good! I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller!

I have no idea how to summarize this one..let’s just say woman marries man for a revenge plan her mom put her up to. Little does she know her mom’s “plan” is more despicable than she can ever imagine.

I really enjoyed this one! It kept me hooked and I wanted to keep reading. I called the final plot twist, but I’m not mad about it. It made the most sense in terms of the story. I enjoyed how despicable all these characters were and how the story unraveled. I’ve enjoyed Darby Kane’s books in the past and I enjoyed this one too!

I couldn’t put this one down! Darby Kane has quickly added herself to my list of “must-read” thriller authors This was impossible to put down and such a fun read. Twists, turns, drama… what else could you need to be entertained? I highly recommend checking this one out.

“What the Wife Knew” by Darby Kane delivers the signature suspense and twists that fans of her work have come to expect, making it a quick and engaging read. The tension builds steadily, keeping you turning pages to uncover the truth. However, while the story is enjoyable, I found it to be my least favorite of Kane’s books so far. It lacked the same impact or depth as some of her earlier works. Still, if you enjoy domestic thrillers with a solid dose of mystery, it’s worth a read—just not her strongest in my opinion.

A nasty little gem of a novel! What if you WOULD have killed your husband, but someone beat you to it? Well, then you'd be a fantastic narrator of a twisty, funny, dark story like this one. I loved Addison and her cynical yet funny and realistic outlook on her life and her marriage. There were many twists, but not too many, and the multiple points of view kept me guessing. Darby Kane is a crackling, witty writer and her characters always bring strength and humor. I can't wait to read what she writes next!

Addison didn’t marry Richmond for a happily ever after, she married him for revenge! She knows what he did twenty seven years ago, she has the evidence to prove it, and she’ll go to the police if he doesn’t do exactly what she says. Before she could get the vengeance she desperately wanted, someone killed him before she got the chance.

This book started with a strong storyline with twist after twist and I thought this would be my next 5 star read, but around the halfway point it started slowing down. I found all the characters unlikable and the big twist at the end seemed far fetched, lazy, and I felt like it didn’t tie into the beginning of the story.

It took a couple of chapters for me to settle in to this book, but I ended up really enjoying it. The narration is about an 80/20 split with 80% of the book being told from the point of view of the main character, Addison. I liked Addison; she was flawed but clearly good at heart. The storyline was engaging and there were multiple twists at the end. Some of the story felt a little underdeveloped, particularly the medical side plot, but it was still a good read.

I really enjoyed this book. My first from Darby Kane and it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the characters. The main character Addison was awesome. I loved her tone, her sarcasm and her storyline. A few other of the characters needed a bit more. They really took a back seat to the main character and were a bit cliche.

I will admit, the cover and the description in the cover did not draw me to this book. Once I started reading I was quite intrigued with the writing style and the main character's POV. Originally I thought- another domestic thriller. Rich people behaving badly. Someone cheats....however, it is a bit more than that, thankfully. The first 75% was great, the ending was average but not terrible. I do wish some of the characters were introduced a bit earlier in the book- vagueness to avoid spoilers.

Overall I enjoyed this story and would read more from this author!

Addison's new husband is dead, and while she's anything but a bereaved widow, k*lling him had been her task. Only someone else beat her to it. Now, she has to find out who committed the murder before they pin it on her.

Narrated in multiple POVs, What the Wife Knew had a strong first chapter. I really enjoyed the sarcasm and wit from the main POV, Addison, which made me chuckle a few times. I didn't care for the other POVs as much, and a few were gratuitous, in my opinion. There were a long list of characters with motives, and I thought I was in for a great whodunnit, but instead, the initial storyline lost its luster and it became chapter after chapter of the MC receiving unwanted visits from people, who might have been the suspect. Even after the main character got an improved security system installed, people were still finding ways to evade the surveillance cameras, or she was inexplicably letting them in her home.

As for the twist, I'm not a fan of twists on top of twists, and there was one part where there was a revelation, only for that information to be proven incorrect by another reveal. However, the most egregious twist was gross, and I don't know anyone who would want revenge that badly.

This was my first book by this author, and it had me hooked from the beginning. Towards the middle it started to get a little far-fetched - I love twists and there was a good one here but then it seemed like they kept coming. It was very fast-paced and easy to read in once sitting, and I really loved some of the characters and really hated others. Would definitely be interested in reading more from Darby Kane.

I thought this book sounded so good! It flips back and forth between past and present, which had me intrigued. I loved the whole getting revenge plot. I thought the end was filled with twists and turns that I did not see coming. There is just one reveal at the end that was a little too weird for me to get behind.

Really good, kept twisting and turning. Honestly, I could have done without the few chapters from Richmond's perspective. Maybe a few from Kathryn would have been cool.

Addison’s mom is the worst!!! Like she is so effed up! That ending 😱. This was a great domestic thriller about a woman who is blackmailing a doctor into marrying her for reasons unknown until later in the book. But who killed Richmond before his Wife could??

This was a really good book and it kept me guessing really the whole way through.

Addison’s husband Richmond, a prominent physician, is dead 6 months? after their wedding, and she’s disappointed that she didn’t get to ruin his life first. However, soon after his funeral the company starts showing up. Her totally irritating and obnoxious mother arrives, but Richmond’s first wife and their two children, Wyatt and Portia, become frequent visitors (since they still have the codes to get into the home). There’s also Elias, Richmond’s lawyer, although now he’s representing Addison. Other business associates and a patient’s father try to pop in too. This one started out slow for me and I’m so glad I persevered. Addison and her story were worth reading.

Five stars! Highly recommend!
