Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Randomhouse Canada for giving me access to the ARC for this book.
The premise of this book was really compelling and I was very excited to read it. I found the main character to be supremely unlikeable at first, but I think that was the point. She's so afraid of living her life and making connections with other people, and it's so frustrating. You just want to shake her and say "get a life!" She really grows and changes through the story and while some of her decisions made me roll my eyes, I'm glad her growth came and wasn't entirely due to her relationship with a man.
The initial situation of her being dead and then sent back to Earth felt a little too convenient and a bit weak, though further reading explains it and gives it more depth. I saw some of the later plot points coming, but enjoyed the journey getting there.
I enjoyed the acknowledgement of the romance tropes present in the book. I mostly understood the references to other romance authors/books, but I don't know how well they will age. One of the main love interests is compared to Timothy Chalamet and as a woman in her mid-thirties, I just don't get the Timothy Chalamet love. The author says Timothy Chalamet and I just do not see a hot guy.
Overall I enjoyed this book, but I'm not going to remember it as an amazing romance read I'd like to read again.

The Love of My Life by Kristy Greenwood is a totally different read from my usual picks. It is a delightful romantic comedy with many twists and turns in it.
The story is about a woman named Delphie who dies and meets her soul mate in the afterlife. She is given a deal of 10 days to return to earth, find her soulmate and get him to kiss her. The only clues she has are his first name and that he lives in London. If she succeeds she will live if not she will return to the afterlife. Delphie learns some very important lessons, finds out a lot about herself and how she has missed out so much on life.
This was a quirky book with many humorous moments. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a lighthearted yet moving story. This isn’t just a romance book, but a story about what it means to really live, and experience life to its fullest.
Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for an advanced copy of this book.

This is my first book by Kirsty Greenwood and it won’t be my last. I loved it all, from the unique premise to the wonderful all-the-feels ending this book was chef’s kiss.🤌 The author uses her love of books (especially of the romance variety) throughout the story and I loved that. All the name and title-dropping had me smiling and thinking “I know that one!”.
I love quirky characters and Delphie is definitely quirky. I had a hard time figuring her out, is she a wimp? Is she a strong woman for what she went through and then does to help herself? Either way, I liked her, she was a wonderful main character. She was hard to like at first because I thought she was wallowing in self-pity, but then I started to get where she was coming from. I saw so much growth from her through the book and she grew on me. I loved how she and Cooper worked together to help each other out despite not being on the best of terms. Delphie grows up and opens up, she stops being scared and it opens up a whole new world for her.
The side character Mr. Yoon was also one of my favourites, and Delphie’s relationship with him really touched my heart. In fact, all of the side characters are pretty amazing and Delphie learns about herself through them and she realizes life is worth living fully and one shouldn’t let past hurts get in the way of a happy ending.
Greenwood mixes genres expertly and that’s not an easy task and to please this reader isn’t easy either but she did it. We have science fiction, magical realism, a touch of the paranormal and of course romance. There was just so much to love about this one. I look forward to what the author has coming next and checking out her backlog. All. The. Stars.

This was such a fun read. I’m not normally a fan of romance books, but when I was given an arc of the book from NetGalley, I thought why not?
Recently deceased Delphie wakes up in the Afterlife waiting room where she’s swept off her feet by a guy who she thinks could be her soulmate. On a whim, Merritt, who works in the Afterlife, sends her back to life with the task of finding her soulmate, Jonah, and getting him to kiss her to keep her from returning to the Afterlife forever.
Back home, she’s awakened by her curmudgeonly downstairs neighbour Cooper. In a quid pro quo, they help each other out. Cooper to convince his parents he’s dating, and Delphi in the search for Jonah.
Craziness abounds as they work together. Delphie and cooper find themselves in crazy situations. Oh, and, is there a spark? Does it through a wrench in the plan? You bet.
This book had me whizzing through the pages gobbling up the adventure. The pace was fast, and kept me engaged. I loved the character development that was great for even the supporting characters in the book.
This is a fun beach read. I definitely recommend picking it up.

Oh my...I loved everything about this book! The humor, the romance, the great banter, the fantastic characters - I enjoyed it all! For me this is one of those books that you wish you could wipe your memory of just so that you can experience it all over again. I think it touched me so deeply because it's got a bit of everything. I was treated to a romance, yes, but I also watched the main character embrace a community, build the family she desperately needed, push herself farther than she ever had before, and take chances that scared her to her very core. Delphie is such a fantastic main character, one that I can see would translate well onto the big screen (yes, I think this would be a fantastic movie). Her inner monologue kept me smiling and, at times, even laughing out loud. And Cooper, well, he's the perfect "enemy to lover" and oh so swoony. Add to that a motley crew of side characters and, trust me, you'll be very entertained. This is my first Kirsty Greenwood book but it will definitely not be my last. I'm looking forward to enjoying more of her wonderful stories!

This book follows Delphie, a lonely woman who chokes on a burger and ends up in the afterlife. While in the afterlife's "waiting room" she encounters Jonah, an absolute dreamboat who she immediately feels the spark with. However, Jonah was not supposed to be there and is sent back to Earth. Delphie makes a deal with Merritt (her quirky guide) - she can go back to Earth to find Jonah, but she only has 10 days to have him kiss her of his own free will or she has to return to the afterlife forever. The catch? Merritt gives her no information about Jonah's whereabouts.
This was a super cute read! I loved Delphie (she is absolutely hilarious!!!). The characters she met along the way were wonderful and I loved her interactions with all of them, especially Mr. Yoon and Cooper. The journeys she goes on are a lot of fun. I found myself trying to read through this quickly to find out if Delphie gets her happily ever after with Jonah or if she is sent back to the afterlife to be Merritt's guinea pig for a new "afterlife dating" app.
I would definitely recommend this for a light, fun read. I usually read thrillers and this was a great cleanse between intense books. It was fun, light, cute, had happy moments and sad ones, and was an all around great read.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for the chance to read this for free. This was my honest opinion.

I absolutely loved this. It has been the shining light of joy in an overwhelming week. The premise is a little quirky and the execution is a lot of delightful. There was a lot about Delphie I found endearing and relatable. And all the characters that enter her life throughout the story are such treats.
This is certainly a romantic story, and absolutely a comedy - I swooned, I laughed, I thrilled, I couldn't get enough. But it is also so much more that that... found family, rediscovering who you are, putting yourself out there in the most unexpected ways and discovering so many magical things... it really has it all.
I truly just adored everything about this. It has everything I love in a romantic comedy, everything I love in a quirky story, and everything I love in a contemporary finding yourself tale. Absolute 10/10, 1000% recommend and would certainly read again and again.

Oh my goodness, I love this book! I’m pretty sure that this is the romantic comedy I didn’t know I always needed and wanted. I laughed, I suspended my disbelief, I giggled, I swooned, and I delighted in the craftsmanship both behind and within the pages.
You’ll adore this cast of quirky, fun-loving, entertaining, decidedly real characters who Delphie somehow manages to collect. The found family in this book alone is worth the read. Dealing with love, loss, loneliness, learning to live again, courage, found family, and friendship, this is a book I think most every romance reader will love. I found a kindred spirit in Delphie who states, “I like it shiny!” I couldn’t agree more Delphie; I couldn’t agree more.
This was my first Kirsty Greenwood book and certainly won’t be my last. I can easily see this being turned into a movie or tv series though I do love the book as is.

A lovely book full of hope and silliness and the belief in happily ever afters. I will be honest, the first part of the book I found to be a bit silly and not entirely believable. I still don't entirely love Merritt (is she supposed to be that overbearing and slightly incompetent?) but the final act of the book really made my heart swell and appreciate the joys of just being alive. There is some heavy stuff in this book (emotional neglect, death) and I think it's best if you go into it thinking it will be a lighthearted, silly romp (the author's note at the beginning says exactly this and I think it sets the tone well). For fans of missed connections, enemies to lovers, and romantic comedies in general (there are many fun nods and references to the genre sprinkled throughout) Great for a poolside read this summer.

What a fun and delightful book! This was such a quirky read with a splash of magic that had me swooning and giggling and holding my breath! A perfect romcom that once I got into it, I couldn't put down. I absolutely recommend this book! 4.5⭐️

“The Love of My Afterlife” by Kirsty Greenwood offers a whimsical twist on romance that transcends the bounds of life itself. Recently deceased Delphie finds herself in the afterlife’s waiting room in an embarrassing nightie, face-to-face with the most attractive man she’s ever seen. But just as sparks begin to fly, he’s whisked back to earth due to a clerical error, leaving Delphie with a tantalizing ‘what if.’
Thanks to a celestial bureaucratic mix-up, Delphie gets a rare chance: return to Earth for ten days to find this mystery man who might just be her soulmate. It’s a delightful premise that marries the quirkiness of the afterlife with the frantic pulse of a race against time on Earth.
Initially, Delphie’s character grated on me; her early portrayal felt more frustrating than endearing. However, as the pages turned, her growth into a more self-aware and considerate person was not just convincing but heartwarming. Greenwood skillfully redeems her protagonist, illustrating that everyone can change, often in ways that surprise us.
One of the story’s strengths is its exploration of soulmates, suggesting that any relationship can reach soulmate-level depth with enough patience and nurturing. This perspective is refreshing and imbues the romance genre with a dose of realism about the work relationships require to flourish.
Social interactions and their importance to human fulfillment are another key theme. Greenwood doesn’t just tell a love story; she underscores our intrinsic need for connection—whether with family, friends, or romantic partners. Additionally, the bureaucratic depiction of the afterlife adds a humorous, light-hearted layer to the narrative, making the celestial seem less mystical and more amusingly mundane.
Incorporating classic romantic tropes like enemies-to-lovers and love triangles, Greenwood weaves these elements seamlessly into the fabric of the story, enhancing the narrative without overwhelming it. Each trope plays a meaningful role in the development of the characters and their relationships, ensuring that nothing feels forced or out of place.
I received a review copy from the Viking imprint of Penguin Random House Canada via NetGalley, and I am delighted to award this charming novel four stars. “The Love of My Afterlife” is a recommended read for anyone looking for a romance that’s both sweet and seasoned with a dash of magical whimsy. It reminds us of the magic in everyday connections and the extraordinary possibilities that may await us, even beyond life itself.

Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada and Kirsty Greenwood for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review ☺️
This is a cute, fun, fast-paced supernatural romcom that is down right hilarious and so delightfully brilliant from the very first chapter. This book has a plot that is a little far fetched but written SO well that I truly felt myself in this world with Delphie, stumbling along and loving every minute!!
Everything made perfect sense amongst the chaos and the twists kept me hooked from the beginning; with a lesson to be learned around every corner and so many relatable quotes/bookish references that had me smiling and rooting for our main characters to the core 🥹
Easily one of my favorite books of 2024 and would definitely recommend this gem!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for this ARC!

A big thanks to Net Galley and Penguin Canada for the ARC of The Love of My AfterLife. A solid 4 stars. This was a delightful rom-com, filled with hope, fun and a little spice. Our main character finds herself in the waiting room of Evermore, after choking on a hamburger. What follows is her quest to return to life, but hopefully as a better person and friend. A few mishaps and a little intrigue.

This was a cute and fun read. I only wish the digital copy I had was in ePub format & not PDF, as it was hard to read the font on my kindle. Loved the sex and the city reference, cause Dephie reminded me exactly of Miranda right before she mentioned it. Lol. For me, it felt like I was reading a chick flick. Which I love. Would definitely recommend this one.

4.5 stars⭐ and maybe 1.5🌶️spice [SPOILER FREE]
Thank you so much Penguin Random House Canada and Kirsty Greenwood for providing me with an eARC for an honest review.
The Love of My Afterlife takes the reader on a journey with Delphie, our lovely FMC, in the quest to find her soulmate. She was an introvert loner in life, and then she chokes on a not-beef hamburger and finds herself in the afterlife's waiting (laundry) room. Once there, she hits it off with someone that doesn't end up staying. She is given the chance to go find this soulmate, Jonah, to give herself a second chance in life. If only her jerk of a neighbour downstairs would quit getting in her way!
This premise is very unique and caught me instantly. It was so different from any I've read before. It was cozy, funny, and sweet. There was a real growth for Delphie as she goes from hostile and fairly unlikable to a heroine we want to root for. She has an entire character arc that I really appreciated - she wasn't flat at all. Cooper was also a bit of an interesting fellow and I really enjoyed his backstory of why he is the way he is - and same with Delphie. Her history of being bullied did explain a lot about her hostility and untrusting ways of others. The last 50ish pages of the book were so fun and I almost shed a tear. It was a very beautiful ending.
I think anyone that liked Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston would also enjoy this. It was a silly, cute, heartfelt read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you Penguin Random House Canada & netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This was such a fun rom-com! It was a lighthearted read, that also showed immense character growth and had an intriguing plot. This book kept me on my toes till the very last page! In the end, I was cheering for all the characters!! I really enjoyed this one.

What a silly read- I absolutely loved it! The premise is a little ‘out there’ but it’s very cleverly written. It didn’t take me long to get invested and flying through the chapters. By the end I found myself cheering for all the characters- each with their own ‘quirks’. A fun, light read to be added to everyone’s summer TBR list.
Thank You to NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada, and Kirsty Greenwood for the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy this ARC.

This is one of the most unique books I have read. I'm not sure how to classify it. Ghost story? Rom-Com? Magical realism? Sci-fi? Chick Lit? Fairytale? I guess it's a little bit of everything. And, maybe it isn't even unique to others, but it is to me.
The main character, Delphie (a solid introvert), dies accidentally. But she is given a chance to return to earth for 10 days and complete a mission. If she is successful, she will be able to remain alive. I have to suspend my beliefs for this premise and go with it.
This is when the fun starts. She is determined to complete her mission but gets thwarted at every turn. Despite her difficulties, I can't help but cheer her on. She fears that time will run out. But, this mission is totally turning her life around. It's fun to watch her personality emerge.
After I became used to the odd premise of the story, I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are lots of interesting characters. There are fun situations. There's humour. I love Delphie's character. Her backstory reveals why she is an introvert.
I can totally see this as a movie. I'm not up to date on today's popular young actors but I’m sure there are a few that would be a good fit for roles in the movie.
It is a light, fun read with serious undertones. I found it the perfect antidote to all the headlines these days. Some might find it a little bit corny. But a little bit corny sometimes fits into our lives at the right times. A true “feel good” story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.

This book was a challenge for me. I really struggled to like Delphie. People go out of their way to be nice to her and she is actively hostile. The book is jarring as I believe Delphie is intended to be likable, however, she’s actively not for the first four fifths of the book. I love romance novels, however, this one was really difficult to get through. I kept putting it down and the countdown on the eARC was the only reason I did not DNF the book. The parts I do like: Cooper is a fun character, he is entertaining and actually compelling. I also like Leanne. I think the moral about life and love was almost impactful. I do think that people who enjoyed The Dead Romantics would like this book.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for an open and honest review.
