This was okay for me. I found myself getting frustrated a lot by Evie and all the crap that she let herself take on. Her daughter and her ex, her parents refusing to acknowledge problems, school, and lots of other things. There is A LOT going on in this story. So much that it was hard for me to get into and stay into the story. There were a lot of things unanswered for me as well because of all the side things going on not being tied up. Jonah was okay. He did get a little better as the story went on. I felt like the ending reconciliation between Evie and Jonah was rushed. I was rooting for them, just not sure the ending was what I was hoping for. This was my first time reading this author, but I would give her another read.

Thank you Entangled publishing for allowing me to be a part of the ARC team.

A delightful fake relationship/enemies (neighbors) to lovers romance.

This book follows some single parents on their journey after some rough years. I liked the age of the characters. It’s relatable. I really enjoyed this story. It had some deep moments, but it was also very lighthearted and funny. There is some spice in the story.

Trigger warming: this book touches on a lot of subjects which include cancer, grief, suicide, single parenting. Make sure to check those warnings before reading.

I received eARC for my honest opinion.

In this book you will meet Evie who is a single parent raising a teenage daughter with the help of her parents. She also works at the cafe that her parents own, and not just because they helped her out when she was at her lowest but because this is what family does. However, being a single parent since you were 19 can get lonely and when her friend blast to the whole world about her love life and what Evie is looking for in a man…her life is suddenly filled with a lot and I mean a lot of men with roses coming to her family’s coffee shop trying to win her heart or at least a date with her. Evie can’t handle all this and even though her sexy, but annoying neighbor can’t do anything right with his garden she has a great idea that he can be her fake romance to get everyone off of her back, but what happens when that neighbor sweeps her off her feet?

I loved this dual POV on two single parents that are just trying to figure out life and romance. I found the plot to be just what I wanted in a romcom but a bonus when you find out that there is some really great spice in the book as well. I liked the pace and I didn’t find myself upset about the miscommunication trope because of how the author handled it in the book and how it didn’t drag on throughout the end of the book. If you’re looking for the perfect book that will sweep you off your feet, make you laugh, make you shed a tear, and it will have all the single parents rooting for this love story to happen.

I found the characters easy to relate too, and to connect with. I thought their banter was just right for this book and I loved all the funny subtle innuendos throughout the book. I liked that both the characters knew what they wanted out of their lives, but needed a little shove to get them there, you will also see a lot of close family moments. I liked that you got to see the crazy side of raising a child or children when being single but you will also get to see the moments that mean the most as well. I thought both the characters did a great amount of character growth in the book and I am happy to see that they were both able to pull their heads out of their butts.

If you’re looking for a fast paced, easy romcom, with spice, enemies to lovers, fake dating and single parents this is a book you should pick up.

I want to thank NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to review this book.

You've Got Male by Marina Adair was so flirty and fun.
Evie and Jonah have amazing chemistry and it was fun reading their story.
If you enjoy spicy romcom’s, interesting characters with detailed stories then I highly recommend picking this up.

Evie and Jonah are both single parents trying to keep it all together and surviving the best they can. They are also neighbors with great banter and chemistry who butt heads occasionally. They are both so overwhelmed, though, it seems unlikely a relationship is in the cards. Everything changes though when Evie goes viral and Jonah agrees to be her fake boyfriend.

I liked Evie and Jonah from the beginning. Even though I am not a single parent I could relate to their experiences. I thought they were well matched and had a good connection. It was clear their fake relationship was not going to stay fake for long.

I liked Marina's storytelling and writing styles quite a bit. I have read and loved a number of her books and this is a new favorite!

Single mom Evie Granger doesn’t have time for romance. She’s focused on saving her parents struggling coffee shop, raising her teenage daughter, and helping her through endless disappointments from her ex. But her best friend and mom gang up to take matters into their own hands, resulting in Evie going viral, and an endless stream of suitors filing through the door of the coffee shop.

Enlisting her sexy widowed neighbor Jonah to pose as her beard and keep the unwanted attention from Evie, the two set out to prove to her online fans that she’s happily taken.

You’ve Got Male is a sexy frenemies to lovers, with two lost souls not looking for love, but finding it anyway. While the two try to fight the growing chemistry between them, the pull is too strong for either to resist for long.

You’ve Got Male is clever, funny, full of lovable meddling family members, and a second chance at love after horrible loss. You will laugh out loud, and feel tugs on those heart strings. A definite win from Adair!

This book is a good slow burn, fake dating rom com. Evie and Jonah had a night where he got spooked (his wife had died and he hadn’t been with anyone since) and she took his hesitation as rejection. She wants his yard to look fabulous but he has been struggling to move past his heartbreak. When she offers to help him sort out his life, in exchange for him being her boyfriend (to get her mom off her back), things start changing.

I liked the fact that they were both single parents trying to find their way. Even though they started as fake, the more they got to know each other, feelings started to change. When something happens, she decides to end things, even though neither wants that.

I wish there would have been more of a confrontation with her daughter and Evie’s ex (he is a horrible father). I also wish that there would have been more closure with Evie’s dad’s storyline. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

You’ve Got Male by Marina Adair

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶️

This was such an enjoyable story of two single parents both going through different struggles. Struggles including grief/loss and loneliness/abandonment. But don’t worry this also comes with some funny moments, sweet chat and some very steamy spice!
Over the dual POV to show each of their struggles and unique perspectives. This felt like such real and relatable issues and characters. Evie and Jonah had such amazing chemistry and banter.

It was such a good, emotional story! You will not be disappointed reading this!

I liked following the story of Evie and Jonah and their relatable lives. Dealing with grief, loss, and disappointment while trying to find balance in everyday life can be quite difficult, and this resonated with me. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Evie and Jonah, how he always managed to rile her up and show emotions she tried to school. The family aspects (moody teens, nosey parents, and friends) of both main characters made the story even better and gave dimension to their relationship and their daily realities. When the social media craze up-ended Evie's life, the story had even more interest with the world now watching her love life play out.
Overall, the heartfelt romance that bloomed throughout the story was heavily enjoyable, and I rooted for them from Jonah's first appearance, tying in the chaos of life while trying to take a chance on love was a beautiful touch.

This was a cute rom-com! It’s lighthearted and a quick read.
It just unfortunately wasn’t my favorite.
The beginning of the book I absolutely loved but throughout the story I found myself wanting more and having questions that I felt weren’t answered fully.

But yall… The sunshine nickname made my heart happy, it was so adorable! 🥹☀️
& I really did enjoy Evie x Jonah.

This was such a fun rom-com! It felt like watching something similar to Never Been Kissed, but without the creepy teacher/student storyline. I love when we have mature characters, like this. Evie and Jonah have both been through many trials and have put their lives on hold for their children. Both have become single parents through different circumstances, and don’t have time for anything else in their lives.

When Evie’s family decides to “help” out her dating life, she accidentally goes viral and is inundated with suitors. Desperate to escape, she makes a deal with her neighbor and HOA rival, Jonah. She helps him organize his life, and he will be the fake boyfriend to get Evie the space she needs. But can they keep the boundaries they set for this fake relationship?

Such a fun, quick summer read. I loved both of our main characters and their kids.

You’ve Got Male is the first book i’ve read with single parents and I really enjoyed it. This book was cute, lighthearted, but also speaks about some deep topics such as grief of losing a loved one. It doesn’t go into deep detail about the heavy topics but I did enjoy how the author wrote about them. The FMC and MMC are both very likable characters and I’m very happy this was a dual POV book. Many people would be able to relate to this book as the scenarios that happen do happen in real life. I also think this book would resonate well with moms/single parents out there. I enjoyed the banter in this book and the witty conversations that happen. It does have a lot of those cheesy rom com lines that many books have which is cute/funny in moderation.

Spice rating: 2/5 I think the spice was written well. It doesn’t go into too much detail and the beginning half of the book is mostly flirty remarks and innuendos.

Overall, I think this is a good book and an easy read! It was heartwarming to see Evie and Jonah supports each other. I am definitely going to be checking out some of this authors other books! 3.5/5🌟

If you love a fake relationship trope - you will love this book. This was so cute, gave me early 2000s rom com vibes/feels and I am here for that kind of book in my life. Perfect for summer beach days!

I loved Evie and Jordan. Their banter was so fabulous and made me love them so much. Both have already experienced a lot of setback in their lives. The story was positive and hopeful. I loved that both characters were so strong, but they shared their vulnerabilities with each other. The supporting characters were a hoot! The story made me laugh as well as pulling on every other emotion. And the ending was perfect for them. It was a great moodlifting book! I received an advance copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The perfect rom-com that will have you laughing throughout the story and smiling at the end. From enemies to friends to fake relationship to HEA, Evie and Jonah are both single parents and are neighbors. Evie has pressure from her parents to start dating so best friend decides to put Evie up on social dating, ClickByte. To end the string of eligible men lining up, she asks her neighbor to be her fake boyfriend. Soon they find themselves enjoying the company of each other but of course there will be some trials and tribulations. This is the perfect summer read.

This comes across as a fresh modern rom com. Evie and Jonah are both dealing with the trials and tribulations of being single parents as well as managing their other commitments. Things get awkward when a video of Evie describing her perfect man is circulated on social media and she is forced to turn to her neighbour Jonah for help. Their fake relationship takes the heat of both of them in different ways as they support each other to manage their responsibilities. Although a rom com, the author does touch on difficult issues such as the loss of a spouse in a sensitive way. The characters are relatable and felt real - you can’t help but want to cheer them on! All in all its a fun read with some genuine emotional depth.

I gave You’ve Got Male four ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you Net Galley and Entangled Publishing for this ARC. These are my honest opinions.

I enjoyed this story. It was a quick read with nothing too heavy in it. It was funny and mostly light hearted. Evie and Jonah have been neighbors for a decade. I’ve seen it said that this is “enemies to lovers”, but I think Jonah has had a thing for Evie for a while. They go at each other, but it’s more of a “picking on each other” thing (think junior high)

I loved Evie’s dad, Lenard! Fun and flamboyant and so colorful. Her mom was quite the character, too. All of the main characters were likable and fun.

If you want a good, quick read, this one’s for you!

What an adorable, but real book. The characters were perfect, the story was almost perfect....let me explain. Up until about 80% or so into the book, I was definitely giving it 5*. Because it was different from most romcons. Then, there it was, the one thing that always happens. I won't ruin it for anyone, but, I really thought this book was taking on a different feel from most romcons. It could have, easily, I was a tad disappointed that it didn't. When you read it, you'll know what I'm talking about. And, you really should read it, excellent writing. Marina Adair never fails to entertain. Warning, it is SPICY 🔥. But, not too much so that it takes away from the story.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the chance to read this advanced copy.

3.5 ⭐️ and a 1.5 🌶️ rating, with that extra half being the desk, IYKYK.

What happens when your bff and cougar mom conspire and film you in your most embarrassing moments and upload it to a social media platform?

You accidentally end up Social Media Famous known as the “You’ve Got Male” girl.

Evie couldn’t be more embarrassed. As suitors started showing up to the coffee shop trying to date her, dealing with her ex, teenage daughter, being a single mother, she’s got enough on her plate including bringing down her neighbor, Jonah, and his disastrous yard.

Jonah is just trying to get through life after losing his wife years ago. The yards a mess, the teenagers sulky, the toddlers in her terrible twos, he hasn’t worked in years, and his neighbor just won’t leave his free spirited pomegranate tree
Be.

After conspiring to assist each other, in a dual POV, he falls first barely friends to lovers situation see how it all plays out tomorrow June 25th, 2024!

Personally, I really wanted to love this more. The synopsis and concept was great, just IMO it fell short.

The novel left some things under developed, too many side things thrown in and unresolved or not come back to to complete full circle, especially her school.

Their physical lead up just didn’t feel natural to me. The reconciliation at the ending was rushed and to make a true heroine out of the single mother she should have had a big conversation with Mateo.

I did appreciate the parent’s heartfelt conversation with her at the end. It was still a cute read just not my most favorite.
