I thought this would be a quick, fun, pool-side read. It was in a way, I was just more frustrated than entertained. The frustration comes in what comes next for Marisa, Kalinda, and Loni. I also wanted Loni to speak up for herself regarding her job. However, the whole premise is to get her to the resort so I get it. However, the later could have still been achieved. There are times were felt as though I was reading a YA romance book instead of an adult book. I think the premise of the pranks were to instill some humor, but I was frustrated. One thing I love about ARCs is that I'm introduced to authors that I wouldn't normally read.

I struggled to connect with the characters. Loni, the female lead, made decisions that seemed unwise, especially when it came to standing up for herself at work. This initial impression made it difficult for me to root for her throughout the story. The narrative heavily features Loni and her two sisters, but much of their dialogue felt tedious. Their jokes about the male lead, Ryan, were more rude than funny, which detracted from my enjoyment. It was hard to see what Ryan found appealing in Loni given these interactions.

There is more to this book than meets the eye. Yes, it’s a sweet romance that takes place near a North Carolina beach, but it’s also a story of three sisters coming together to save their deceased mother’s legacy. When developer, Ian, comes to town on their father’s instruction, the sisters unite and the results are full of spicy dishes, rundown shacks, sizzling flames of attraction, and all sorts of Southern hospitality and charm…kind of. Let’s just say it was funny. These characters are full of life and are such a joy to read about.
I found the slight mysteries to give an added dimension to this delightful beach read. I think it would be a treat to read a story about the other two sisters. This is another great story by this author.
Content: moderate language; fade-to-black/innuendo

Super sweet enemies to lovers! Loni just can't seem to catch a break, and insert Ian the developer trying to take her family's summer home you can imagine how things start! But as much tension and angst as there was in the beginning, this story had a sense of family values and finding yourself. This would be a great summer beach read!

Everything was supposed to be going Loni's way, but now she's lost out on a promotion, her fiance is breaking up with her, and her sister says she needs to come back home.
She's definitely someone who is set in her ways and very used to her orderly and predictable life. She was a relatable character in that she was so focused on her goals and a little bit at a loss of what to do once she didn't meet them. Ian felt similar in some ways to Loni, but still had his own past and relationship hang ups to work through.
The story was interesting because they start out at odds over Loni's family's hotel. It's definitely a fine line to walk as it has to make sense that would fall for one another while fighting for the property. Jennifer Shirk did a nice job with character and story development, and I ended up really liking Loni and Ian as individuals and as a couple. This was a good summer read, and another great book from Jennifer!

This book gave major hallmark movie vibes in all the best ways. Big city developer coming in to buy small town resort and meeting the stubborn daughter obstacle. Immediately have my vote. I absolutely loved all the pranks Loni and her sisters pulled on Ian to try to make him give up and go home, and I loved having sort of a mystery going on in the background of the book to give the main characters something to work on together and bond over. I loved all the southern charm packed into this book and all the lessons on small town community and found family. I could not have been more obsessed with all the quirky background characters. I could totally go for this becoming a series and getting follow up stories for both of Loni’s sisters. I would love to see their happily ever afters. I could not be happier with the ending of this book and the growth in both Loni and Ian. Basically, read this one for the Bridgerton references alone! 😂

When Loni's life starts falling apart, she doesn't get a partner and her fiance suggests they "take a break" It seems like perfect timing that she is needed back home in Sunny Banks. It's too bad that she's needed back home because her father wants to sell the hotel he bought with his wife/ her mother who had passed away years earlier. Loni and her sisters are determined to make their father see that the hotel should be saved and Ian is in the way. It's his job to decide if the hotel should be saved or turned into something else. Loni and her sisters will do what they can to make Ian want to leave and never come back.
While I enjoyed this story overall, I did think that Loni and Ian's romance was a bit instalovey. I wished it showed more of them together so we could see the chemistry growing, and maybe more of Ian falling in love with the lovely small town he's found himself stuck in. That being said I enjoy them together as a couple, especially at the end. I loved the setting, and I loved her sisters, and hope that we do get each of their stories in the future.

I'm still trying to think of a hotel in a movie that would do justice for The Sandy Bottom in this book. I loved the premise of the spitfire sister returning home to save her mother's hotel from developers. Loni's scrappy sass reminds me of Miriam from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The writing is a step above your usual romcom as the author weaves in layers of family drama while keeping a bright and light-hearted tone. It will get you fired up and ready to join in Loni's pranks as she torments the property developer that her father has sent.
Loni's career as powerful attorney in LA is being sabotaged when her sisters beg her to come home. Their father has decided to sell the family's beachside hotel to developers who will tear it down. Their deceased mother loved this place so it feels feels abrupt and hateful, especially when Dad adds that he is now engaged to a woman they have never met. Let me tell you - if my father did this to me, I would make Loni's meddling look like child's play. Her plans crumble when Ian turns out to be quite friendly (and handsome). His attraction to Loni blazes and she's stuck between her desire and her purpose.
This is a delightful enemies to lovers as Loni and her dazzling sisters come to terms with the past and find the courage to dream big. The ensemble of small town characters is so charming, I would be happy to read a sequel following any of their love stories.

As the cover eludes this is such a perfect summer beach read. It’s light easy read and fun! The story takes place mostly at a resort in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Loni and her two sisters are working to try to keep their family resort operating and functioning with the growing increase of VRBO’s. Ian is contacted by their dad to buy the resort to sell for future development. Resorting to Romance is a great enemies to lovers with family drama sprinkled in. A story about finding yourself, family, love, trusting others.

This was such a fun story to read because it had me laughing at the funny antics the Wingate sisters went to protect their Sandy Bottom resort in North Carolina. It was a story filled with angst, tears, and romance as Loni and her sisters tried to convince Ian he did not want to buy their resort. I enjoyed the antics, the characters, and the fun story! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

A great summer read! I like Loni. She's a bit complicated. Because of her career choice, I was surprised at how naive and trusting she was. The sisters relationship was good though all have things they hide from each other. I've not read anything by this author before, but I will look for others by her in the future. The book is an easy read and has a fair amount of humor and a little mystery. The story is well paced. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the first book I’ve read by Jennifer and I really enjoyed it. Full of laughs, adventures, amazing banter and amazing characters
Loni is back in her hometown after a tough time. She’s determined to stop Dave the family resort but has a challenge ahead of her.
Ian’s in town to complete a business transaction…he is confident, strong and determined. What he doesn’t expect is Loni.
Loni and Ian’s interactions are funny, full of amazing banter and undeniable chemistry. Although they are at odds…the more time they spend together their feelings change. They become great confidants, lovers and partners.
A fun and delightful read.
Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the complimentary copy.

Loni left her hometown to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer where she is in the running to be named a partner. Instead of getting the promotion she finds herself being investigated and her fiancé, who was named partner, wants to take a break. Needing to get away she heads back to the family resort that holds so many family memories only to learn that her father plans to sell it.
Ian is a property developer who is also friends with Loni’s dad. He is interested in buying the resort, so he decides to take a visit to check it out. His appearance is not welcomed by Loni or her sisters but even though he and Loni find themselves on opposite sides that doesn’t diminish the feelings they are developing for each other.
This is a heartwarming story as Loni and her sisters fight for the resort but realize that there is a lot about the past they don’t know while Ian will have to choose what truly matters. I did enjoy getting to meet her sisters as well and hope that we will get to see them find their happy ever afters as well.

Resorting to Romance by Jennifer Shirk was a wonderful smalltown romance story!
My goodness I adored this book. This is a fun, quick read that made me smile from start to finish. If you are looking for a quick cute summer read this may be for you.
Thank You NetGalley and Entangled: Amara for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

This is a really sweet, perfect beach read. Loni is small town girl who returns from big city determined to save her family resort. Ian is a lone wolf ready to steal it. This dynamic leads to a fun and flirty enemies to lovers.
In addition to the romance, there is complicated family drama that gives interesting side stories. The dynamic of the three sisters is very entertaining. And given their set up, I am looking forward to their books.
Overall, 4⭐️ and highly recommend!

"Resorting to Romance" by Jennifer Shirk is a charming small-town romance perfect for a summer read.
The story follows Loni Wingate, a lawyer whose life falls apart, leading her back to her family's North Carolina resort, which is at risk of being sold.
Enter Ian, a handsome developer with his eyes set on the property. The dynamic between Loni and Ian is filled with snappy banter and a gradual shift from enemies to lovers.
The strong bond between Loni and her sisters adds depth and warmth to the narrative.
While some plot elements feel a bit exaggerated like the pranks she wanted to play for Ian to leave them alone , it's an enjoyable, light-hearted sweet romance and satisfying read for readers that are looking for a quick summer read.
Very grateful to the publisher for my copy, opinions are my own

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for my advance electronic copy via NetGalley. My opinions are my own.
Loni Windgate was supposed to be made partner at her LA law firm today. Instead, she lost her (misogynist) fiancé and her career is in serious jeopardy. To top it all off, she finds out that her dad is selling their North Carolina resort out from under her and her sisters. Loni rushes back to wage war against Ian, the developer coming to assess the property, but instead of smashing the deal, she finds herself feeling more and more safe with him as she sorts out her complicated feelings about home and family. With their opposing objectives threatening to crush each others' dreams, they may end up re-defining what "home" means, or they may drive each other away forever.
This is a romance worthy of Hallmark! Pure escapism: enormously attractive opposites, becoming soulmates in a very short period of time, and magically falling in love thus healing lifelong trust issues for a happily ever after...lovely! This is a closed-door romance with a great consent rep, which I love. It also gives us enough storyline for Loni's two sisters that I suspect we may be seeing a series-in-the-making. Loni and Ian defy the odds stacked against them and help each other through hard times so that it all works out in the end--an easy, light summer beach read (bonus: it's set at the beach!).
As always, Entangled gives a great content warning at the beginning of the book. Here are the triggers I want to highlight: references to death of a loved one, sexual harassment, betrayal, alcoholism

If you enjoy 🎬 Hallmark movies, you'll enjoy this book! It is a cute, quick read with fun characters. Loni and her sisters work to drive Ian away while he tries to keep emotions out of the deal.

🥰Don’t waste energy trying to change people’s opinion of you. Stay true to yourself, sugar. Never settle for anything less.
🐚“I’ll help, too,” Ian blurted, then froze. What. Did. He. Just. Say? Seashell collecting? Did he really just offer to do that? Ugh. Now look what the south had made him do.
Thank you 🤗 to Jennifer Shirk, Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of Resorting to Romance!

This was a great and fun fast read! I absolutely loved Loni and Ian as characters that brought the enemies to lovers vibe. My favorite scene is Ian showing up and Loni and the sisters giving him hell and acting like good southern ladies but you could tell it was fake! lol
The comic banter in this book is spot on and how Ian and Loni gave each other as good as they got it was awesome!
Would love to read more by this author!

Resorting to Romance is such a fun flirty read by Jennifer Shirk. Two delightful characters who are seemingly on opposites sides but it is hard for them and for me to remember why they were enemies. Some serious family secrets get revealed while the three sisters in the story grow closer. Ian and Loni may not have a huge amount of character growth but they do make some necessary life changes. It may cost them financially in the end but the life benefits are priceless. This is the North Carolina coast that I know and love.
Their story is summer fun at it’s best. The characters including the supporting ones on the family NC resort are unique but lovable. The bedroom door is firmly closed but some things are implied between Ian and Loni before the story is finished. Have a little fun and read Resorting to Romance. I am hoping that there is more to come with the other two sisters
