This was only a snippet and it was amazing. Can't wait to read the whole thing!! It was engaging from the very start and left me wanting more. Luckily more was coming!

I need more!! Four chapters isn’t nearly enough and I can’t wait to return to these characters in full

What a great short snippet of Somewhere Beyond the Sea. It excites me to read the entire novel when it's released. I have missed these characters and can already tell this will be as good as the first.

I loved this book so much if you haven’t read it or read anything by this author then I suggest you do so immediately

If the rest of the book is anything like the snippet provided by NetGalley, "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" by TJ Klune is going to be just as perfect as "The House in The Cerulean Sea." I already have the book on preorder and can't wait to dive in and find out what happens to some of my favorite literary characters of all time. Though I will be tempted to rush through it, I will force myself to slow down and savor every beautiful word of Klune's writing. This is a book that makes me want to call in sick to work so I can read it in its entirety, with a warm cup of tea in hand and a purring cat (named Linus Baker) on my lap.

Thanks Tor Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this excerpt.

When I requested this book, I didn't realise it was only an excerpt, but honestly I was heartbroken when I realised it was only a sampler. I loved getting back with all these beloved characters of Arthur, Linus & the adorable children. It was like getting together with good old friends. Back in that house, the book starts off with the heartwarming dynamics between all of them bringing in loads of mischief & laughter which was just the perfect beginning for this sweet story. Later on, Arthur & Linus have a mission to accomplish & now I can't wait to read the rest of the book to see how it would all unfold.

I really hope all folks with magical abilities will be integrated into the community's mainstream, accepted with open hearts, treated equally with respect & assimliated into the society to give them all a fair chance in the future.

This book made me feel so cozy inside. Much like the first, it put warmth in my heart. I can't even appropriately describe to you the love I have for this book and these characters. You just simply have to read it for yourself. I needed this sequel like I need water!! Love, love, LOVE! I need a third book ASAP!! Thank you soooo much for the chance to read this early :)

I loved the sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. You might find the premise of a magical group of children (including the antichrist) an off-putting storyline but please believe me, you will fall in love with each and everyone of the children. Arthur and Linus are perfect Dads in their imperfection and the things that happen in their house are the same things that happened in my my house raising two non-magical humans ( minus the explosions). I think TJ likened the animosity and judgement that the LGBTQ+ community faces with the fear and judgement that his magical characters face by the humans around them for simply being different. The joy and struggles of parenting and the love story between Arthur and Linus are REAL and as a reader you are brought along on a magical and sometimes painful journey that will leave you changed forever.

Thank you to NetGalley for early access to this excerpt in exchange for an honest review.

Content warnings: child abuse

Following the events of the first book, Somewhere Beyond the Sea follows Arthur and Linus on their trip to the city to speak with government officials with the intention of eliminating DICOMY. An unlikely source shares information about the trial that changes things drastically.

So excited to continue with the rest of this book! The first one was 5/5 stars for me and based on this excerpt, the second might be as well!

I am a lover of Cerulean Sea, so I was incredibly excited for the chance to read this! Unfortunately, this one didn't live up to my expectations.

This entire book felt like a response to the TJ Klune haters. It's like he heard everyone's complaints and decided to apologize and fix his mistakes with a sequel, but at the expense of the plot. I love how Klune addresses social issues and uses this whimsical magical world to do it, but I felt that the pacing of the story was off because he tried to fit so many issues an plot points in to a 400 page book. It just felt clunky!

What I did like? Being back with these characters I love so much. Klune did an amazing job of continuing to teach us about the kids, Arthur, Linus, and Zoe, and they all felt incredibly authentic to who they were in the first book. What an amazing return to some of the most iconic characters in the cozy fantasy genre!

So far, this sequel preview is just as delightful as it's predecessor. Can't wait to get the full-length and find out if it's worth a full five stars!

In this sequel to The House on the Cerulean Sea, we are back with the humorous magical creatures and their caretakers. I flew through the first 4 chapters, and I’m so excited to get my hands on the finished copy to keep reading this delightful story!

Thank goodness for Somewhere Beyond the Sea, because it has officially gotten me out of a slump!

I should have known because TJ Klune is brilliant in everything he writes and The House on the Cerulean Sea was one of my favorite books of all time.

I received the sneak peek from @netgalley and flew through it in one sitting 🫣

I know I can’t rate only 4 chapters, but they are 5 🌟

Bring back with our favorite magical children and watching Arthur and Linus being in love makes my whole body feel warm and fuzzy.

I’m so eager to dive deeper into Arthur’s backstory and watch the drama of our newest book unfold.

I was only given the excerpt, but it left me wanting more!!

Sequels are often deemed so unnecessary, but there's something about TJ Klune's writing that tells me from experience that it's not going to feel that way. As I was reading, I was scared as to what they'd have to face this time and just how bad is it going to get? I didn't want them to get separated at all. I didn't want Lucy to feel like he had to act like the Antichrist or something like that.

The excerpt was so good, I had to get the book myself and honestly, 100000/10. I'm so glad that I picked this book up. TJ Klune, you reminded me that just because something is good doesn't mean it can't get better. We must always seek to better ourselves and in doing so, we'll enrich our lives and the lives of the people we come across.

At the end of the book, I'm happy that they have redefined what being a great family is. What true understanding looks like, and how raising kids that are growing more and more independent by the hour truly feels like. Ah, TJ Klune, I hope you write more books and I hope I get to read them all. Thank you for sharing this story to the world.

A welcome return to Marysas Island and its wonderful residents! Just as heartwarming and enjoyable as the first but even better because I already knew and loved everyone.

Incredible follow up to The House in the Cerulean Sea. This story brought me hope. The found family and how much they love and protect each other is amazing. I cannot recommend these books enough.

Reviewing books by controversial authors is always a prickly proposition.

While, as a librarian, I would NEVER condone the banning of books, I do think it’s always a good idea to read with a critical eye. Are there themes that might be harmful to a group of people? What are these marginalized groups saying about the consequences of the work?

While I wish he’d commented on his use of Residential Schools as inspiration in his author’s note, I think he tried to redeem himself by making the main character a survivor of those schools.

Whether he succeeded is not for me to decide.

The story itself, while much darker than HitCSa, was a lovely tale of found family, and, according to the author, a love letter to the Trans Community.

I loved all the children, but Chauncy and Lucy were my favourite. Lucy’s humour and blood thirst reminds me of Anne Shirley’s quote about wanting a man who “could be wicked but chooses not to.”

If I was to quibble, I might talk about the children not talking like children, and the fact that I was sad Whatserface didn’t come around in the end. I love a good redemption arc.

Thanks to NetGalley and Tor Publishing for this magical ARC.

Unfortunately, the advanced copy that I received was only an excerpt and not the completed title, so I can not offer my comprehensive thoughts.
However, as a huge fan of The House in the Cerulean Sea, I was elated to hear that this book was coming and thoroughly enjoyed reading the parts that I could.

TJ Klune has a lyrical way of writing that immerses you in the characters and I was so invested in getting to know Arthur's story. The found family aspect in House in the Cerulean Sea was one of my favorite elements and I can see that was carried into this book as well. The best way I know how to describe the feeling this book gave me, even in the small excerpt I read, was like being wrapped up in a warm hug. It brings the reader so much comfort, you come to genuinely care about these characters, and it is just so wholesome.

I cannot wait to get my hands on a finished copy so that I can enjoy the totality of this story.

Thank you for the opportunity to see a sneak peek.
