This preview gave me just what I have been missing since finishing reading House in the Cerulean Sea. I have missed these characters so much. I am very eager for the release of the full book IN LESS THAN A MONTH! TJ knowns how to write a literary hug especially when it comes to this extraordinary found family.

Another wonderful adventure from TJ Klune. I was immediately sucked into the magical worlds he creates with the unique characters in them. If you loved the first book in the series, its sequel does not disappoint

SOMEWHERE BEYOND THE SEA's first four chapters are a masterpiece. The House on the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books of all time, and it seems that this book might be up there too. This book follows Arthur's journey, as well as picking up where the found family left off in the previous book. There are family hijinx, understanding, compassion, love, and heartbreak all in these chapters, and honestly, I cannot wait for more.

Thank you to Tor Books and NetGalley for the first four chapters of the novel in exchange for a review!

I was so excited when I got this one! Unfortunately, I thought this was a full arc, so I was completely bummed. 😅 The couple chapters that I was able to read took me right back to the to my favorite unique kids. This one does sound like it’s going to be very political, so I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’m just ready to read more about this dysfunctional family!

Haven't written the review -- have only received the short excerpt. Star rating below just to reflect that the book has not actually been submitted for review on Netgalley as far as I can see.

For some reason the ARC only contained 4 chapters which is a very small percentage of the book. I would give it 4 stars based on the small part that I read. It was so nice to be reunited with the adorable characters from book #1.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea is nothing short of magical—a poignant, heartfelt continuation of the story that began in The House in the Cerulean Sea. The author once again transports us to Marsyas Island, where love, hope, and family are found in the most unexpected places.
This sequel deepens the emotional ties to Arthur Parnassus, whose past comes into sharp focus as he faces new challenges that could either strengthen or unravel the beautiful family he's built. Arthur's journey from a troubled orphan to the nurturing headmaster of the magical orphanage is both touching and inspiring. His love for Linus, his fierce protectiveness of the children, and his struggle with the shadows of his past are all woven together in a narrative that brims with compassion and resilience.
The author's writing is as enchanting as ever, blending whimsical fantasy with profound truths about love, acceptance, and the courage it takes to stand up for what is right. The introduction of a new magical child, one who grapples with the label of "monster," adds layers of complexity and tension, forcing the characters—and readers—to confront deep-seated fears and prejudices.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is more than just a story about a magical island; it's a tale of resistance, love, and the relentless pursuit of a life worth living. The author's ability to create characters who are flawed, vulnerable, and utterly lovable shines through in every page. This book is a triumphant follow-up to The House in the Cerulean Sea—one that will leave readers feeling warm, uplifted, and deeply moved. Arthur's story is a reminder that even in the face of darkness, love and family can light the way.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I didn't realize this was just an excerpt but I am very excited for the full length novel. There was a little drama in the excerpt which I wasn't expecting as the first book took a little while to build up to the action but I am looking forward to revisiting all the children from the first book.

was so excited to receive the arc for this and then realized it’s only the first 4 chapters 😭😭 so glad to be back with these characters & need the rest of the book immediately. I cannot provide a complete review/rating for only 4 chapters, but thank you Netgalley for the arc!!

Somewhere Beyond the Sea is the follow up to TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea. I was so happy to get an excerpt from the new book from @netgalley a few months ago and decided to hold off on reading it until closer to the publication date. Less than a month to go, so I read the first 4 chapters last night.

So far, it’s amazing. Fun to catch up with characters from the previous book. I can tell the drama is about to kick in though. I cannot wait to read the entire book. Only 25 days until I can do that 😉 September 10 can’t get here soon enough!

I was literally so excited to be approved for this even if it was just the excerpt because after reading the first in this series I got so excited about the second one coming out!! Jumping back into Arthur and Linus’s world even if just for a couple chapters made me even more excited to get my hands on the full book! These characters and the kids are so well written and I officially can’t wait for pub date!

This maintained every ounce of the heart and hope of the first book, while reminding us of the importance of creating safe spaces for the people we love and support in our lives. The children were front and center, and they absolutely shone. I’m so grateful for a story where uniqueness is celebrated and loved so deeply.

Okay! You cannot leave me at excerpt now; please give me the full story. I want to know why this case became extremely high profile and what people want from Parnassus and his little magic family. I demand answers. I demand access to full book😅

I didn’t realize we weren’t getting the whole book 😭 but I absolutely loved the first four chapters. I listened to house in the cerulean sea and it is my favorite audio book to date. I was a little leery of physically reading this one due to that little fact but it was still wonderful and I don’t want to wait almost a month for the rest 😂 Will post a full Goodreads review once I’m able to finish the book! Thank you for this teaser!!

Read this teaser - looking forward to the book when it releases! I can't wait to meet these beloved characters again. I really liked the prologue that it started with; even though it confused me at first as to whether this was going to be a prequel or sequel. I've already put in my preorder!

The House In the Cerulean Sea holds a special place in my heart so I was so excited to find out there was a sequel coming!

Even though this is just a small snippet of the first few chapters it has me very excited to read it in its entirety when it's released!

Judging by Klune's other books I'm fairly confidant that I will enjoy this one... but I'm not confortable giving rating and feedback on something I've only read the first four chapters of. While I read a lot of teaser chapters in order to discover books I might like I'm a little frusterated by the publisher only giving four chapters on NetGalley for review. Especially because nowhere on the request page does it state that the review copy is only four chapters.

TJ Klune is an auto-read author for me and Cerulean Sea made me absolutely sob so of course I can't wait for the full second book. Arthur is a delight and I can't wait to get more into his story.

I wish I would have realized before applying for this arc that it was an excerpt, but the few chapters we got makes me really excited for the book.

Some authors really have a way of bringing you back into a world that you read about years ago, and TJ Klune does so masterfully in Somewhere Beyond the Sea. The sequel to the hit House on the Cerulean Sea, this new book brings us back to the house on the cerulean sea not long where we left off with Linus, Arthur, and their eclectic and lovable children that they are planning to adopt officially. But new challenges will come their way. Arthur takes the helm of narrating this book, which will delve into his dark past.

While I only got to read the first four chapters, I am intrigued and cannot wait to read the rest of the book! Klune is going all in on attacking contemporary government issues, and I am curious how this will be approached. There will also be a new child added to the fray of already magical and adorable children, and how this child will adapt is likely to play a huge role in moving the book forward. I am beyond excited for September 10th to come so that I can get my hands on the final copy of Somewhere Beyond the Sea! Trust me when I say I will read this in one sitting because I know it is going to be that good of a book!
