This made me so happy and excited to read the full book when it comes out.
We are back in the world with the same amazing characters. The beginning of this book we get a little bit of Arthur's backstory and how he came back "home" to create this home for the magical children we have come to love in the first book.

Very excited for September 10th

Very much looking forward to reading the full text! One pet peeve I'm noticing is that Klune repeats some phrases across books (but! the phrases align with the themes of each book) like being there when someone is ready, stardust, humans being more than one expects, etc. This excerpt opens with the grouchy and prejudiced Merle bringing Arthur back to the island, and Arthur and Zoe's attempts to reopen the orphanage--an excellent addition to Klune's world-builiding!

I was so excited to read this excerpt, and I am definitely interested to see how the story continues. Linus and Arthur are back, as are all of the kids, as Arthur tries to advocate for the rights of his magical kids. This excerpt includes the prologue and the first four chapters, and while there is plenty of fun, cozy, heartwarming banter between the kids and adults, there is also a lot of politics and set up for what seems to be Arthur fighting for their freedoms in court. This is all fine and good - my primary concern as a reader, however, is whether or not the magical kids will be as featured in the story. What I loved so much about House in the Cerulean Sea, is the fun and chaos of those characters. I'll take a thinly veiled metaphor for LGBTQ rights any day, but I do appreciate how funny and sweet the first book was, and I hope this one continues that tradition. I'm eager to find out!

Yay for the return of this great cast of characters from the wonderful first book! Chauncey, Lucy, Talia, and all the others... I loved what I got to read so far but now am waiting with bated breath to get to the rest! Hopefully, it'll all be just as joyous as what was in the excerpt. Time to start a countdown timer for 9/10...

I haven't read this first book (yet), but was excited to read this excerpt of the second before diving in to the first. I did really enjoy what I read, but found some parts of it a bit overly wordy. I enjoy descriptive writing, and it seems even more necessary with this type of story, but I did find some of it to be a little bit too much. I am still very interested in reading the first book, and then this one once it comes out in September.

I absolutely loved the first book, and cannot wait to read the rest of the second. TJ Cain is such a great job invoking emotion with his readers, and I love his writing style. I highly recommend checking out the first book, and then reading the second one it comes out in September! Thank you for letting me read this!!

The excerpt was great! I'm stumped on how to write a review with such a small portion of the material available to discuss, but I look forward to reading the full book once it has been published. Based on the first four chapters, fans of the first book will be thrilled by this return to beloved characters.

Though it took me about a chapter to settle in to Arthur's narrative voice, I ended up really enjoying this excerpt! I do think some of the descriptions are a little unnecessarily detailed, but I love that the whimsical nature of the first book seems to have returned in this one, especially considering that it will be tackling some very big topics. I'm extremely excited to see what Klune does with this book!

The tremendous sequel to House in the Cerulean Sea will not disappoint fans of cozy fantasy. Arthur and Linus are living happy lives together with their adorable, if not slightly chaotic magical children. However Arthur is summoned to make a public testimony of his not so pleasant past that may alter the trajectory of all magical beings. And when a new magical child hopes to join Arthur's delightful family, he finds himself at a breaking point that may be too much for his eclectic home.

OMG! I cannot wait to finish this book. The first four chapters feel exactly like House in the Cerulean Sea. The story picks up right after we left off and it feels like coming home. As always TJ Klune's storytelling feels like you're wrapped in a blanket sipping a cup of tea. For fans of cozy fantasy, you will want to grab this book immediately. Release date is September 10th, so make sure to get your pre-orders in now. You will not want to miss reading this book!

I absolutely devoured this excerpt and cannot wait for the full book! It's such a refreshing, comforting read with also some real-life issues and commentary on LGBTQIA+ rights.
It had been a while since I read the first one of the series, but this book did a great job at helping the reader sneak right back into the world and characters without being too obvious about filling us in on background.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea will be published in September 2024, mark your calendars! And if you haven't read House in the Curulean Sea, do that in the meantime (or give it a reread).

Ah! I cannot wait to read the rest of this! The first 4 chapters have me enthralled! TJ Klune really does it best with characterization and voice. I feel as though I know all of these characters, and we picked up right where we left off like old friends.
