TJ Klune continues to be the king of charming characters. This excerpt brought charm, charisma, and whimsy. I once again fell into this beautifully built world and could really feel the stakes. I cannot wait to get my hands on the full novel this fall!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Tor Publishing for allowing me to read an excerpt of the sequel to one of my favorite books, Beyond the Cerulean Sea, by the magical TJ Klune. I don't think any other author comes close to creating such magical worlds and characters that feel so incredibly real and have so much to teach us. I literally cannot wait for the full book to come out in less than 2 months. More please!!

Thank you NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for this e-arc excerpt in exchange for my honest review.

TBH—I didn’t realize that’d requested an excerpt and not the full novel, but it was just enough to give me a feel for the sequel of House in the Cerulean Sea. I love the writing style and found myself laughing throughout the excerpt.

In the excerpt, we find ourselves once again immersed in Marsyus Island and see a little more into Arthur’s background when he first came to the island and came back to it all those years later in the hopes to change other magical children’s lives. Now Arthur’s time has come to speak his truth and stand up for all magical children. What will come of Arthur’s summons? I’m excited to find out when the novel publishes this September!

Really enjoyed the excerpt, but really sad it wasn't the whole book! Really hoping to read the entire book in the future as I really enjoy this authors writing style!

I absolutely love Klune's writing and this excerpt is no exception. I am so excited for the full length novel to be here, to dive back into Marsyas Island! Arthur's story is going to be an exciting one. Thank you to NetGalley for the excerpt! It just makes me that much more excited for the full length novel!

This is one of my most anticipated reads of 2024, and this excerpt has somehow managed to increase my excitement. T.J. Klune is a master of world-building and this book feels like catching up with old friends!

I confession...I haven't read the excerpt yet and I am not going to. I am so excited for this book to come out and reading a small portion of it may just make my brain explode with anticipation. (I didn't realise it was an excerpt when I requested it.)
Anyway TJ Klune is amazing and I can not wait for September 10.

Thank you netgalley for letting me read this exempt. I loved the first book and from the first chapter in this book I was hooked again. It's a funny story that I find myself laughing out loud. I love that this book is from Arthur's point of view. It shows us when Aurthur returned to the island/house and how the house came to be, before it continues the story from the first book. I can't wait until this book comes out so I can continue reading it.

Klune instantly brings us back into the world we love with the characters that we cherish so much! The heart, joy, and life of these characters are still there from the first book where we first met all of them.

With this just being an excerpt, I am captured with this story and can’t wait to learn more about these characters. Arthur’s story is one that I am intrigued by and looking forward to learning more about him and what Klune may throw at us. I am sure Klune will leave us in tears by the end, as he always does.

I’ve just loved the first book and really appreciated the opportunity to be taken back to this magic universe.
It was really interesting to know more about Arthur’s past at the school and the island.
The four chapters were just a tease to get in touch with the characters we love so much. Looking forward to the full version of the book!

I was lucky enough to get the first four chapters of TJ Klune's Somewhere Beyond The Sea (sequel to House In The Cerulean Sea). I'm officially hooked and I can't wait for this one to come out so I can read the rest of it!

It was filled with some funny and heart warming moments that made the first book shine. This book focuses on Arthur's story as he is summoned to make a statement about things that have happened to him in his past. With the support of Linus and the kids he finds the strength to go and speak his truth.

This made me so happy and excited to read the full book when it comes out.
We are back in the world with the same amazing characters. The beginning of this book we get a little bit of Arthur's backstory and how he came back "home" to create this home for the magical children we have come to love in the first book.

Very excited for September 10th

Very much looking forward to reading the full text! One pet peeve I'm noticing is that Klune repeats some phrases across books (but! the phrases align with the themes of each book) like being there when someone is ready, stardust, humans being more than one expects, etc. This excerpt opens with the grouchy and prejudiced Merle bringing Arthur back to the island, and Arthur and Zoe's attempts to reopen the orphanage--an excellent addition to Klune's world-builiding!

I was so excited to read this excerpt, and I am definitely interested to see how the story continues. Linus and Arthur are back, as are all of the kids, as Arthur tries to advocate for the rights of his magical kids. This excerpt includes the prologue and the first four chapters, and while there is plenty of fun, cozy, heartwarming banter between the kids and adults, there is also a lot of politics and set up for what seems to be Arthur fighting for their freedoms in court. This is all fine and good - my primary concern as a reader, however, is whether or not the magical kids will be as featured in the story. What I loved so much about House in the Cerulean Sea, is the fun and chaos of those characters. I'll take a thinly veiled metaphor for LGBTQ rights any day, but I do appreciate how funny and sweet the first book was, and I hope this one continues that tradition. I'm eager to find out!

Yay for the return of this great cast of characters from the wonderful first book! Chauncey, Lucy, Talia, and all the others... I loved what I got to read so far but now am waiting with bated breath to get to the rest! Hopefully, it'll all be just as joyous as what was in the excerpt. Time to start a countdown timer for 9/10...
