I haven't read this first book (yet), but was excited to read this excerpt of the second before diving in to the first. I did really enjoy what I read, but found some parts of it a bit overly wordy. I enjoy descriptive writing, and it seems even more necessary with this type of story, but I did find some of it to be a little bit too much. I am still very interested in reading the first book, and then this one once it comes out in September.

I absolutely loved the first book, and cannot wait to read the rest of the second. TJ Cain is such a great job invoking emotion with his readers, and I love his writing style. I highly recommend checking out the first book, and then reading the second one it comes out in September! Thank you for letting me read this!!

The excerpt was great! I'm stumped on how to write a review with such a small portion of the material available to discuss, but I look forward to reading the full book once it has been published. Based on the first four chapters, fans of the first book will be thrilled by this return to beloved characters.

Though it took me about a chapter to settle in to Arthur's narrative voice, I ended up really enjoying this excerpt! I do think some of the descriptions are a little unnecessarily detailed, but I love that the whimsical nature of the first book seems to have returned in this one, especially considering that it will be tackling some very big topics. I'm extremely excited to see what Klune does with this book!

Ah, I have this on my holds now for the library - can't wait until it comes out so I can read the whole thing. I love this author and I love the characters!

TJ Klune can do no wrong!!! I was thrilled to get this excerpt and absolutely loved it as I imagined I would.
Cannot wait to get the full book when it comes out.

I read House in the Cerulean Sea years ago and really enjoyed it-- I was beyond shocked to see this sequel pop up on Netgalley! Readers will be thrilled that the story of Linus and Arthur is continued in this sequel!

If TJ Klune writes it, I will read it. Cannot wait for the full version to be released! I’ve missed this universe so much

Such a nice excerpt, I was so glad to be able to read it! It seems like it you were a fan of the first book, you’ll love this new continuation of the story.

This excerpt was absolutely perfect!! So GOOD!! I NEED this ENTIRE book STAT!!! Please Tor, PLEASE grant my request for an ARC!! Pleaseeeeee
Absolute perfection! I can’t wait to devour the full physical book! (Hopefully really soon!!!)
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing for this early excerpt in exchange for my honest review! 5 BINGE WORTHY PERFECTION stars!!

Wow! Thank you to #NetGalley for this ZINGER of a preview for Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune. #SomewhereBeyondtheSeaExcerpt

The tremendous sequel to House in the Cerulean Sea will not disappoint fans of cozy fantasy. Arthur and Linus are living happy lives together with their adorable, if not slightly chaotic magical children. However Arthur is summoned to make a public testimony of his not so pleasant past that may alter the trajectory of all magical beings. And when a new magical child hopes to join Arthur's delightful family, he finds himself at a breaking point that may be too much for his eclectic home.
OMG! I cannot wait to finish this book. The first four chapters feel exactly like House in the Cerulean Sea. The story picks up right after we left off and it feels like coming home. As always TJ Klune's storytelling feels like you're wrapped in a blanket sipping a cup of tea. For fans of cozy fantasy, you will want to grab this book immediately. Release date is September 10th, so make sure to get your pre-orders in now. You will not want to miss reading this book!

I absolutely devoured this excerpt and cannot wait for the full book! It's such a refreshing, comforting read with also some real-life issues and commentary on LGBTQIA+ rights.
It had been a while since I read the first one of the series, but this book did a great job at helping the reader sneak right back into the world and characters without being too obvious about filling us in on background.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea will be published in September 2024, mark your calendars! And if you haven't read House in the Curulean Sea, do that in the meantime (or give it a reread).

Loved this and cannot wait to read the full book. I loved getting a sneak peak of it and it made me excited for what is to come.

Ah! I cannot wait to read the rest of this! The first 4 chapters have me enthralled! TJ Klune really does it best with characterization and voice. I feel as though I know all of these characters, and we picked up right where we left off like old friends.

I read an advanced excerpt the first 4 chapters of this book, and so far I’m really enjoying it! In this book we are getting to see another side of Arthur through flashbacks and will get learn even more about his upbringing when he testifies about his experiences. I loved reading about the children’s hijinks and am looking forward to reading more and seeing how a new resident impacts the dynamics of the house.

This is just a four chapter excerpt of the book to come. But it doesn’t seem that it will disappoint.

I LOVE EVERYTHING TJ KLUNE. While it is hard only reading an excerpt and not the full thing, I literally found myself transported into Klune's world. The writing in this series is nothing short of amazing, captivating, and so well done. I can't wait to read the whole thing!

Can’t wait to read the full thing! Great preview into what is to come. It was lovely to be immersed into the world of Arthur and Linus and the lovely characters again for a short while. September is too far!

So hard to give feedback on an excerpt. But, it was just enough to let everyone know that this book is going to be worth the wait! There is nothing better than being back in this world. The excerpt was a tease — can’t wait to see how it plays out.

While this is only an excerpt, it's clear that the magic—and tension— that made The House in the Cerulean Sea so beloved are here. From the little that is shared in this excerpt, a few notes:
+ Political pressures are up and the parallels to today are unmistakable. It will be interesting to see how much this pulls readers out of the dreamland of the book into the nastiness of real life—and also, bravo to TJ Klune for not making magic out of these real issues
+ It's a sequel so far that needs to be read in order
+ I want to live with these kids
