I loved the House in the Cerulean Sea, and was nervous when I heard about the sequel because how could anything else ever measure to? My fears have evaporated after reading this short excerpt, and I think I will love this one too. The focus on Arthur? I can’t wait.
I am ready to be hurt by this series again.

Four chapters. Four chapters to hold us over for the next four months.
This time, Arthur is our narrator. After a quick reminder about each of the magical kids in his charge on the island - and each just as lovely, funny, and snarky as in the first book - Arthur and Linus must go on a journey to the city. There, Arthur will testify before the government on behalf of the rights of magical beings. Once they arrive, they’re immediately diverted to meet secretly with a woman who tells them something is afoot. And it ain’t good.
Plus, David the Yeti is promised. ❤️
I cannot wait for this book and will drop everything when my preorder arrives to read immediately.

I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune, so I was excited to be able to read this ARC excerpt from the sequel, Somewhere Beyond the Sea. The story picks up with Arthur and Linus living on the island and caring for the children as a family. Arthur is preparing to leave the island for the first time with Linus to testify in a hearing before the government about the rights of magical people--especially the "dangerous" children in his care. Right before the excerpt ends, Arthur learns that perhaps the government is spying on him and has a larger agenda against magical people and him in particular than he thought. Still, he hopes to use his voice to speak up for what he believes. Thank you to the publishers and. NetGalley for this ARC excerpt, and I cannot wait for the full release!

This excerpt made me even more excited fir the full release! Definitely retains all of the things that were so adored in the first book!

I am thrilled to dive into the continuation of this captivating story! The sequel picks up seamlessly, immediately addressing the essential steps to create a safe haven for the "orphans." The writing remains as beautiful and compelling as in the first book, keeping me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The fantasy and magic of the setting and its people add a rich layer of enchantment. The characters are so loveable and well-developed that they draw you in completely. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!

Absolutely loved this and I can't wait to read the entire novel in September. Thank you NetGalley for the arc excerpt.

Ugh! I'm hesitant to post a not glowing review since this is my first NetGalley review, but I'm honestly dissapointed in this sequel. I adored the first book SO MUCH. But this one is very "woke." There are three different gay couples in the first four chapters, a mocking of the Lord's supper, references to transgender and political changes. It feels very agenda focused rather than the charming storyline from the first and unfortunately does not align with my personal values.

I’m so excited to be back in this world and learning more about Arthur. This book cannot be released soon enough! I am forever a fan of TJ Klune’s writing style - from the unique, unforgettable characters to the whimsical backdrops. Thank you to the publisher for an advanced trades copy of the excerpt.

I absolutely love T. J. Klune and his books, and this is one of my most anticipated reads of this year! I screamed when I got the opportunity to read this excerpt. Can't wait to read the whole book

It’s difficult to review based on such a short excerpt, but the writing is a good mix of funny and serious and the children are as amazing as before.
There was some immediate addressing of generational trauma, which makes me wonder if some of the criticism of the author’s original inspiration was heard and listened to, which is always nice to see.
I’m excited to read more, but worried about leaving the idyllic setting of the island. A lot of the charm of the first book was in its setting and the characters of the kids, so hopefully the bulk of this story brings us back there.

The writing in this book is so beautiful. The world building and description is great! I can’t wait to read the entire book. I am already so invested in the characters and I want to know what happens. I love the family vibes from this excerpt and it was wonderful to see their family interactions.

Thanks NetGalley and Tor Publishing for letting me read an excerpt of this book! I’m so excited to finish it in September!

I was thrilled to have the opportunity for a sneak peak of this sequel as I adored the first book. This excerpt was a quick read with more great whimsical descriptions of the island and scenery. The political themes make this book seem a little less like YA but it's hard to tell from just the excerpt. I am excited to read the full story Thanks to Tor Publishing Group and NetGalley for the advanced excerpt!

Didn't know this was an excerpt, but I'm excited nonetheless to enter back into this world! Klune has a unique way of making you want to empathize and be a better human.

At first I didn't realize that this was an excerpt. It picks ups very close to where the first book in the series left off, with all of our favorite characters, I am eager to know where it will go - it did seem a bit less whimsical than the first book and more like there is going to be an undertone of politics in the storyline. We'll see, I'm hoping that it is just as good as the first.
Thank you to Netgalley & Tor Publishing Group for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This sneak peek dropped me right back into the warm, fuzzy, loving feelings I had while reading The House in the Cerulean Sea. I was quickly reminded how much I love these characters. I love the quick and quippy dialog of the children! These quick four chapters lead us up to Arthur preparing to testify in front of the nation’s leaders to defend the magical world. Thank you NetGalley and Tor Books for this gifted copy in exchange for my honest review. It’s going to be very difficult to wait for pub day to arrive this fall!!

This excerpt previews a story just as warm and heartwarming as the first. It’s exiting to get more of Arthur’s story. I look forward to the full release.

T.J. Klune has a knack for writing lovely characters, and I'm so glad to be reuinted with the crew on the Cerulean Sea. This book picks up beautifully just after where The House on the Cerulean Sea left off. I found myself immediately drawn back in, & I was so upset by where the excerpt ends. I cannot wait to get my hands on the full copy in September.
Thanks to Tor Publishers & Netgalley for the excerpt!
**Will share to Instagram closer to the release date. **

What a tease!!! I knew it was an excerpt going in, but that doesn't change the fact that I cannot WAIT to read this in its entirety. Klune has created a world that I want to know all about. Characters that are so thoughtful and well crafted. And a story that all our hearts need so desperately right now. September better get here yesterday! In the meantime, I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a full galley version!

I'm so feral for this series that I can hardly contain my excitement for this installment. If this excerpt is any indication, this one will be right up there with my love for the first book. September needs to hurry up!!
