This excerpt of “Somewhere Beyond the Sea” includes the first few chapters of the novel.
The magical and unique family we know and love is back, and trying to make it all official! With the anticipation of another possible addition to their clan and a legal battle with unknown outcomes and secret weldings, Arthur and Linus must go away (and back) to the city to make things right.
There are returns of characters who were briefly mentions in the first novel, and the heart of its prequel “The House in the Cerulean Sea” is still very much present within our family and will hopefully remain in the rest of the book. Arthur and the children are very much my favorite characters in the first book, it’s be interesting to know how much we’ll get overall in the sequel. According to the excerpt, there will be some dedicated time with the legal drama — something I’m not too interested in reading but want to know how it all plays out, predictably or unpredictably.
This is told to be Arthur’s story — what will come to light in the midst of everything that comes out?

In just 4 short chapters, this author managed to pull me back in to the world of the House in the Cerulean Sea. We get a glimpse into the lives of the children of Marsyas Island since we last left off. It brought me back to the warm & fuzzy feelings I felt when reading the first book. Not only did this excerpt give me the happy feelings from the first book, it also piqued my curiosity with a glimpse into Arthur's past and then drew me in with the promise of government drama. I can only hope that time flies until this book comes out so I can see where the story goes.

I enjoyed the first so much so I was happy to be gifted the arc for the second one. I absolutely love tj klunes writing. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this arc.

This direct continuation of the Marsyas Island crew begins with Klune's characteristic heartfelt writing of the familial state of the island and begrudgingly delves into Arthur and Linus' work to undo the harmful bureaucratic system that represses magical persons. This 4 chapter excerpt has whet my appetite for the full novel and can tell this will be a wonderful sequel.

This is an excerpt, so I can't give it a full and proper review. But it does look like it will be another good one from Klune.

I am so excited for this one— the excerpt wasn’t enough! I’m so pleased to be getting a follow-up of the first book and can’t wait!

Absolutely amazing and captivating! So happy to be back on this magical island with the most wonderful group of characters. Cannot wait for the full book.

This has me so excited to read more!!! What a great teaser! I can’t wait to read more of the story. I am waiting on pins and needles for the rest of the book. Thanks so much for the little taste!

Am I sad this is only a 4 chapter excerpt? Yes. Did I eat it up anyways? Absolutely. I adored House in the Cerulean Sea and am SO excited for this next book. Getting just a nibble of the story made me even more excited. This world, these characters and this story are such a phenomenal one and I’m so glad we’re getting more. I can’t wait until September!!

I am dying to get my hands on the rest of this book! This excerpt was exactly what I wanted from book two in the series. The found family is my favorite part of this series and this book starts out strong with the "birt" party for Linus. I loved hearing the kids discuss their surprises for him as well as the touching moment when their big gift was revealed. I cannot wait to to find out what happens with Arthur and Linus during the rest of the book. My heartstrings are already being pulled with the devotion they both have to those kids on the island. Counting down the days until release day! Thanks to NetGalley, TJ Klune and Tor Publishing Group for giving me a sneak peek.

I was so excited to have received an excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea! The House in the Cerulean Sea was my first TJ Klune book and I fell in love with these characters and I’m so excited to jump back into their world. I’m excited to read a book from Arthur’s POV and to meet new kiddos and fall in love with this book just as I did the first one!

Why oh why is this only a few chapters?!? I have this preordered and release day cannot get here soon enough. I loved every second of seeing our friends again from The House in the Cerulean Sea. The same writing and inspirational words shared through some amazing characters and a NEW POV. I cannot wait for the full story.

Excerpt??? What? I thought it was the entire book! Already preordered! If you love Klune's other works, this one starts off just as good!

wHAT A BEAUTIFUL STORY THIS MAN WRITES. i CANNOT WAIT FOR THE BOOK! tHANKS TO NETGALLEY AND THE PUB;ISHER FOR THE EXERPT.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this excerpt. I read it in a day and can’t wait to grab a copy of the final release. It’ll definitely be interesting to see what happens to Arthur.

I flew through the 4 chapter excerpt and am already wanting more. I loved the return of this cast of unique characters and their banter. I can already tell the 2nd book will not disappoint. Excited for the release date!
Thank you to Tor Publishing Group via Netgalley for the opportunity to review this excerpt.

I LITERALLY threw my hands in the air and squealed when I saw I was approved for this ARC!
I started reading and was shocked that I was already 51% finished when I felt like I was just getting into it. Low and behold- it’s an “ARC excerpt”. Only the first 4 chapters.
Oh, what a bummer! I gobbled them up as I absolutely LOVED The House in the Cerulean Sea, and could not wait to see where these special characters ended up next.
This book is Arthur Parnassus’ story. It’s the same heartwarming story telling about the orphanage, the Department of Magical Children, the definition of love and family.
This excerpt was a tease, but a very good tease! I loved the first 4 chapters and am very, very sad I have to wait until 9/10/2024 to read the rest.
Thank you @NetGalley and @TorpublishingGroup for the excerpt! I loved it and would be THRILLED to read the rest if you'd like to send it over!!

It was wonderful to get an insight into this book - and revisit my "friends" from the first book. This excerpt totally won me over and I cannot wait for the release of the book.

The House in the Cerulean Sea is in my top 5 most favorite books so I was VERY excited when I saw book two was coming out. I was lucky enough to get a preview of the first 5 chapters from NetGalley and it did NOT disappoint. I am sad I have to wait for the rest of the story! It has been a few years since I read Cerulean Sea so I was worried I would forget some parts, but the book does a really good job of reminding you of everything in the first few chapters. I am looking forward to reading the full book when it comes out in September.

I’m so thrilled to be able to read an excerpt of this book. The characters are, as always, a delight in their antics and personalities just shine through. This excerpt is already bringing in a couple new characters and I can’t wait to see how they tie in to the story at large. Highly anticipating the full read!
