AHHH! thanks to netgallery i got the chance to read an excerpt of this book! even only getting a few chapters all the amazing things from the first book came rushing back! the characters and the chemistry?! i love them all so much! i also very much enjoy the little bit of a darker tone that this story is taking compared to the first one, but also surrounded by the happiness that was in the first! i can’t wait to read it when it comes out !!

In the second of the House in the Cerulean Sea series, we pick up again with Arthur Parnassus, Linus and the children at the house before shifting scenes to the government for a hearing about the laws around magical peoples. While the excerpt is only the first four chapters the writing is witty and joyful despite tackling heavy topics of discrimination. It sets up as it’s going to take us deeper into Arthur’s story whereas the other book focused more on the children and Linus. I’m very looking forward to reading the whole thing when it comes out!

I’ve received the first four chapters from Tor Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and I am so excited to read the rest! Somewhere Beyond the Sea follows exactly what I hoped its sequel would include - Arthur and Linus, completely in love; their found family up to fun shenanigans; trying to affect change for magical people. I’m really intrigued by the build up to the political hearing and what that will bring and I will definitely be reading the rest of this the weekend it comes out!

The highly-anticipated sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea is slated to come out this September!
I was lucky to be granted an advanced copy excerpt (guessing the first 1/4 of the book) so while I can’t give an accurate review/description just yet, the book picks up not far from where the last one ended. Caring for the fun and spunky magical children of their strange orphanage on Marsyas Island, Arthur Parnassus and Linus Baker are living the dream. But when Arthur is called to the city to testify about his own troubled past, a new fight begins.
I devoured this excerpt and can’t wait for the full release! Thank you to Tor Publishing for the advanced excerpt copy in exchange for my honest (and early) opinion.

There are few books that I’ve ever truly LOVED more than The House in the Cerulean Sea, so when I saw that Arthur would get a chance to tell his story, the countdown began. I feel so lucky to have read an excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea; but imagine my dismay when I realized it was just that…an excerpt. How am I supposed to wait 5 months to see how this story ends?

Written with the same charm, humor, and underlying messages, Somewhere Beyond the Sea had me captivated from page 1.

I don’t have too much to review about the plot, specifically, since I only got to read 70 pages, but I can say that the kids are still hilarious, Arthur is still wise, and Linus is still, well, Linus.

The two men set out to the mainland so that Arthur testify about his experience as a child on behalf of magical youth everywhere. They have some help, but the excerpt alludes to trouble brewing.

As a special education teacher, these books have everything a classroom needs to have a rich reading experience. TJ Klune is a master of allegory. Thank you for shining a (much needed) spotlight on the importance of accepting one another as we are.

It's going to be torture waiting until September to be able to finish this one! Seeing Arthur and Linus again was such a treat (even though it's so short because it's only an excerpt *cries in bookworm*)
Klune is a fantastic writer and story teller, I have yet to be disappointed by one of his books. Any Klune fan will be anxiously waiting for this one!

I could not be more excited for Somewhere Beyond the Sea! I was a massive fan of Cerulean Sea and it’s one of the main books that got be back into reading, so I can’t wait to follow Arthur, Linus, and the kiddos in this book! The first 4 chapters made me fall in love with them all over again! This seems like it’s going to be the perfect blend of cute little giggles and tears as they fight for their rights as magical people.

Can't wait for the book -- the excerpt made me even more excited after jumping back into this world! Just as warm and funny as I remembered.

So excited to get this excerpt!

While the prologue was definitely impactful, I wasn't sure exactly of how necessary it was (though after the end of chapter 4, I have a feeling I won't feel this way for long). I loved jumping into Chapter 1 and seeing where these amazing characters have been. Absolutely so curious to see where the rest of this story is going!

Over the last few years, TJ Klune has become an auto buy/read author for me. He beautifully masters the combination of fun and heartbreak all at once. I love his work and after reading this excerpt, I absolutely cannot wait to read the rest! I will because I don't have a choice, but still.

I am officially HOOKED! I absolutely cannot wait to read "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" in its fullest. TJ Klune is one to (continue to) watch!

I received a copy of the first four chapters from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. As these are only the first few chapters, my review and rating will be updated as needed after reading the full book.

This story picks up from Arthur's POV almost exactly where House in the Cerulean Sea ends. Whether this book was originally planned as a sequel or not, the characters still all sound the same, and Arthur is a distinct voice from Linus, which isn't always true of POV shifts.

I do get the sense that this might be harder to read than the previous book. While the people are the same and the humor is still there, it's dealing with the aftermath of trauma and a government that minority groups know is often against us directly, instead of the indirect approach that Linus demonstrated.

Apart from a slightly confusing start (which I hope gets addressed more later in the book), this promises to be very good and I am looking forward to reading it when it comes out.

**Thank you NetGalley and Tor for an excerpt of this title in exchange for an honest review**

This excerpt has me excited for this sequel and has solidified that I need to preorder this book! Just from the first few chapters, I can tell that readers who love The House in the Cerulean Sea will be very happy with where this story is going. We're immediately reacquainted with old favorites, but it's clear that they've grown since we last joined them which I enjoyed. There were many times where I found myself having to stop because I was laughing so much at the characters which I loved about the first book. The stakes do feel a bit higher in this one than in the first book, but not overly so. It's still very much a cozy fantasy in my opinion.

Very excited to read the whole book to see what happens when it comes out!

I’m desperately wishing I had the full manuscript. I loved House in the Cerulean Sea and am so excited to be back on the island and to see my favorite characters once again. This seems to be more Arthur focused and I love that we’re going to get more of the family and learn about his character more. Just as immersive as the first, this was a pleasant sneak peek.

Didn't realize this was just an excerpt when I requested... but once I got over that disappointment, I was wowed! Needless to say, this looks like it will be excellent! Can't wait for the full story. Every new book by this author is a treat.

As an avid fan of The House in the Cerulean Sea since its release in 2020 I was extremely excited to see this excerpt available for preview. It was such a joy to be back in the company of some of my very favorite literary characters. With any sequel there is always the fear going in that some of the magic of the first book will be lost. Luckily that does not seem to be the case here, at least in the small section available at this time. The kids are just as delightful as always, especially Chauncey who has always had a special place in my heart. Seeing the relationship between Arthur and Linus progress is such a joy as well. I cannot wait for the full book to be released later this year!
