This has the same lovely, warm fuzzy feeling immediately that Cerulean Sea had. We get to see our fav characters again, have our hearts grow three sizes with their interactions, and get a glimpse of the struggles to come. This already makes it feel like this book will be just as special as the first. I can’t wait to read the whole thing!

Thank you to Tor for this sneak peak into Somewhere Beyond the Sea.
I have missed these characters so much and it made my heart happy to spend a few moments with them.
TJ Klune's writing paints beautiful pictures in my mind (if that even makes sense)
I am anxiously awaiting the release of this sequel.
I feel cheated and would like the rest of the book please and thank you.

Can't wait for the full book! Honestly shocked that only an excerpt was released for review, can't review much based off of a few chapters.

Wow! This excerpt is just sooo amazing! I can't wait to have the sequel of this story! And having Arthus' POV is just so great!

Well, I did not realize this was an excerpt when I requested and got this and wouldn't have requested it if I'd realized. Maybe that's my fault or maybe it's Netgalleys... not sure. I've never received an excerpt from Netgalley before and didn't know it was even a thing. I'm super disappointed. I've read maybe two chapters of ehat is apprently a 4 chapter excerpt. So far I do like it to be fair. However.... I do not want to finish it. Why would I read and review 4 Chapters now, just to forget what I read and have to reread it 5 months from now when the full book comes out? Nope. Just no. I like where the chapters are going so far, so stars for that but I am unhappy it's just a small section of the book and don't feel I can adequately review it having only few chapters to go off of.

What a sweet trip back to the cerulean sea. All of the characters seem to not have lost their charm or whimsy. Linus and Arthur are going on a trip back to the city to testify about the treatment of magical beings, so we’ll see where that takes us after Chapter 4. Can’t wait.

Not since Harry Potter has a story and a group of characters sparked my imagination and stayed in my heart. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea. I am so happy to be reunited with these unforgettable characters and see how their story plays out. I can’t wait for the rest of the book.

First off, I want to say thank you so much for this opportunity from Tor Books to review the sequel to the book that I was very much in love with last year. I am a huge fan of TJ Klune’s first book (The House in the Cerulean Sea), which I gave a five-star review on last year.
Therefore, as a brand spanking new reviewer for NetGalley, I want to give my one hundred percent opinion on how I feel about the first few chapters.
So first off, the premise of finally speaking out against the government six months after the first book kept me intrigued. Especially in Chapter 0 (Prologue) after glimpsing a bit into the past about how Arthur himself took something so traumatizing and made it into something that made him on top of the children he takes care of, safe and protected from the people who wish to cause them harm.
Healing Generational Trauma. Especially within certain groups and gaining rights is a huge hot topic right now. This is what we exactly need in 2024 due to Marginalized Groups being stripped of rights.
Secondly, I love how the government was keeping tabs on Arthur himself. Is he considered dangerous since he is a Pheniox? Is it because Magical Beings, including himself, are considered terrorists? Especially since he was hounded by reporters asking if the children (including the antichrist), were being contained.
But the characters? Oh goodness. That's what keeps me going. The characters felt real and flawed, created with realism intended. That mostly kept me drawn to the story, especially when I was introduced to them in the first book.
The one thing that did bother me, was the talk of Chauncey’s Cloaca and the boys’ penises in passing. I think it would turn some people off. I understand that the children may be going through puberty at that time and don’t understand social cues yet. But, it's a bit icky to hear about something like that. Lastly, it's not quite stated in Chapter Zero that it is the Prologue. I assumed it was going to be about Arthur growing and creating the Orphanage, which wasn’t the case.
I cannot wait until Fall to read/own this book. This is going to be yet another bestseller and I will be buying it.

An excerpt, but a fun tease to get me ready for the world again! I can't wait for September for the full story!

It has been quite a while since I’ve read something that immediately pulled me in and that I had to keep reading, though I’m not surprised this was the one to do that. It felt like visiting old friends. The character are full of life and, even with their magic, feel so real. I can’t wait to see where the story goes. I am hoping there will be more story that involves the children. With where the story was headed I was nervous they may not be featured. Regardless, I will absolutely be reading this the moment it comes out.

I’m hoping and praying that I get the full arc before release because I LOVED the excerpt NetGalley blessed me with. I have so much love for the first book and it was one of my very few 5-star reads of Tj. His writing is so whimsical and he puts so much detail into his writing, I can visually imagine the world in my head. I love how his writing gives a voice to those that might be in less fortunate situations because they don’t match the status quo. I can’t wait to get my hands on this in September 2024!

Thank you to NetGalley for the excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea. I absolutely adored The House in the Cerulean Sea and this second installment started strong. I am so attached to these characters, I cannot wait to read the rest of the book,

These four chapters were NOT ENOUGH!! I am so happy that Linus and Arthur and the kids are getting a sequel, because The House in the Cerulean Sea just felt like a blanket and a cup of tea and a hug and I could use another foray into their delightful world.

It was so easy to fall back into this world created by Klune. I cannot wait to see where this story goes. The four chapters that were given to me make me yearn for its release this fall.

YOWSA! I was so lucky to get access to the first 4 chapters of TJ Klune's sequel to The House on the Cerulean Sea.
My only complaint is that 4 chapters aren't enough!!
This book rejoins Arthur and Linus, and all the magical children in their care, as Arthur prepares to testify against the Department of Magical Youth regarding his treatment as a child.
We get glimpses at all 6 children as they say goodby to Linus and Arthur, the latter of which hasn't ventured into the city in many years.
I was worried that I'd need to reread HotCS to catch on, but the world sucked me right back in!
I can't wait for the book's release!! What a delicious tease this was!
I received this digital ARC from @netgalley and publisher @torbooks in exchange for an honest review.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea will be released on September 10, 2024.

Fantastic - I absolutely can’t wait for the rest of the book. The writing style is so unique to Klune that even from the first few pages, I was immediately back in the story (without having to do a re-read) of the first book. I missed these characters.

I was instantly brought home to the island with old friends. I smiled and was brought to tears all throughout reading just the first four chapters. Stunning writing as per usual TJ Klune. Release date cannot come soon enough.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea: Giving us Cerulean Sea fans what we want more of.
Much left to be desired as TJ Klune continues to build the story between each character we love. A deep dive into knowing their past creating who they are and who they are now.
While this was only four chapters, it can best be described as an epilogue we wanted when we finished THITCS. But Leaves you desiring more. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book.
If you are like me and enjoy magical realism, a great romance, characteristics with humorous elements, Over coming life obstacles, LGBTQIA representation, and falling in to another world in a book the sequel of The House in the Cerulean Sea is for you!
I'll be over here counting down to reading the rest of this novel bound to just hit a home run as the first book did.
*5 star rating for the amazing storyline and character development within the first four chapters,*

This teaser was not enough, I cannot wait to read this book. If you haven’t read his other books, get going now!

This is just as good as the first one! Arthur returns to the orphanage where he grew up. He cleans it out, makes repairs and with help from friends he waits for their first group of kids to arrive. They are ready for an adventure! Thank you to the publisher.
