"Hate is loud. We are louder".
An easy five stars for the first four chapters of Somewhere Beyond the Sea. I am actually heartbroken over the absolute cliffhanger I was left with - IT WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET SO GOOD. To be so serious though, this book is so important.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea immediately takes us back to when Arthur was a young boy, first stepping foot onto the island of Marsyas. Arthur's backstory was much needed, though so heartbreaking. Then, the story jumps back to the present and we get a glimpse of everyday life for Arthur and Linus as they prepare for the journey to (hopefully) dismantle the hate and prejudice that the Council of Utmost Importance spreads through the community like a disease.
I only read four chapters, and I can tell you that this will be even more profound than the first book. I am so happy I got a glimpse into the second part of this story, although I'm a little mad that I have to wait until September 10th to find out what happens!
Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Books for the eARC excerpt in exchange for my honest review!

This excerpt picks up a few months after House by the Cerulean Sea. It promises just as much fun witty banter, more of our favorite kids and new faces. It also eludes to taking up more social Justice issues and conspiracies, I cannot wait to get to finish..

TJ Klune’s “The House in the Cerulean Sea” is a novel that has captivated readers with its magical journey and heartwarming story. The news of a sequel is a thrilling surprise that promises to take us on yet another enchanting adventure. Reading the excerpt of his upcoming book, “Somewhere Beyond the Sea,” was an absolute privilege. While the cliffhanger left us with a feeling of anticipation and eagerness, it also sets the stage for a story that will no doubt be just as engrossing and heartfelt as its predecessor.
The sequel picks up almost a year after Linus moved back to the Marsyas Island, and readers are given the opportunity to learn more about Arthur and his journey. Klune skillfully brings Arthur’s voice to the forefront, offering a richer and more nuanced understanding of his character. This development adds depth and intrigue to the sequel and further endears us to the beloved cast.
Readers also get to hear more from the mischievous children, whose shenanigans had me laughing and overjoyed to see how they continue to grow and evolve. Their individual voices are prominent, highlighting their unique perspectives and desires. As they navigate their own paths, it’s heartwarming to see their development and watch them strive to make themselves heard.
At a recent book event, TJ Klune shared a powerful message about the villain in the new book being inspired by J.K. Rowling and her harmful rhetoric towards the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly our Trans family. This revelation deeply resonated with me, as Klune's decision to address this real-world issue in his writing is both impactful and courageous. By weaving this contemporary struggle into his novel, Klune not only raises awareness but also calls on his readers to stand up against hate and bigotry.
The seamless way Klune integrates these important themes into his writing is a testament to his talent and vision. His ability to tackle such serious issues while maintaining the charm and warmth that define his work is truly perfection. At a time of social and political unrest, his stories provide a sense of hope and resilience that is desperately needed. I am eagerly looking forward to the release of “Somewhere Beyond the Sea” and the opportunity to continue this magical journey with TJ Klune.
Thank you Tor Publishing Group, NetGalley, & TJ Klune for the opportunity to read this eARC excerpt.

There are not enough words to describe how much I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea. When I saw that there was going to be a sequel, I've never pushed pre-order now quicker in my life. Then, I was lucky enough to get to read an excerpt from NetGalley. On one hand, I am so incredibly thankful that I got to dive into this wonderful story early. On the other hand, now I'm going even crazier waiting for the book to come out!
I am such a fan of TJ Klune in general, but these characters will always hold a special place in my heart. I absolutely cannot wait to read the rest of this story!

This was an approved NetGalley Arc of the first four chapters.
This second book kicks back off sometime close to where book one ended. It's so good being with this family again and learning some new things that have happened and what the future for this family could bring. I can't wait for the whole book, it's gonna be another banger!

I noticed a trend amongst several people that we all were not aware this was just an excerpt. regardless i am so honored to have a preview of what to expect from one of my favorite authors in sequel to one of my favorite books.
after finishing the chapters we have recieved I must say I am even more excited then i originally was for this book. the wriitng style feels like a warm hug on a cold day, and the way that I am honored to even see an early first 4 chapters is so crazy. There is such a homey feeling in the writing still and I found that being my biggest worry for this book. But it felt like an extension of the first book which is just perfect! I have absolutely nothing negative to say, and cannot wait to pick it up in stores so soon. Thank you for the e-arc

Thank you NetGalley for the excerpt of this book. Admittedly I have not read the first book in the series The House in the Cerulean Sea but have heard nothing but wonderful things so I was excited to give this a chance. Unfortunately, I think this genre just isn't my cup of tea. The Writing was good and the characters and setting was painted beautifully. I just had a really difficult time connecting with the book so I'm glad I was able to read a portion without committing to the full book.

Thank you for except, I could have sworn I was requesting the entire book, but, here we are. It was fun to get a sneak peek of the new book. I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea. It was hard for me to get a gauge on things with just a few chapters, but regardless, I’m sure it will be magical and awesome!

I will admit I was wary when this book was announced. The House on the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books and I didn’t know how a sequel would be able to live up to it, but after reading just four chapters I’m already completely invested and on the edge of my seat waiting for more. I never should have doubted TJ Klune. I am falling in love with all my favorite characters all over again and even meeting some new ones! This cozy fantasy is bound to be one of my favorite reads of 2024 and I’m not sure how I’ll be able to wait to read the rest of the book.

I enjoyed this excerpt and I am eagerly awaiting release day so I can read the full sequel of The House in the Cerulean Sea. I am excited to be back in this world with some of my favorite fantastical characters.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this preview ARC. I absolutely loved it!!! It was so great to be in this world again! TJ Klune never disappoints and I’m so glad he continued the series, one of my favorite books! September can’t come fast enough! Full book review to come after I’ve read the entire thing.

In a tantalizing sneak preview excerpt, I immediately got drawn back into the continuing adventure of magical children living on a sea island called Marysys begun in the House by the Cerulean Sea. Their surrogate father, Arthur Parnassus, has been summoned to the high council overseeing magical beings to testify about how the current rules actually damage magical children. Arthur himself grew up on Marysys- but imprisoned in a dank basement as a dangerous fire breather. He returned as an adult to the island to offer a loving refuge to those considered the most dangerous of magical kids. He’s joined by his partner Linus, who formerly did case work for the Department in Charge of Magical Youth and helps parent the six children in their care, and a magical sprite Zoe Chapelwhite who protects the island and it’s inhabitants along with her girlfriend Helen Webb who’s the mayor of the closest land town and a passionate gardener. The adults all work together to bring out each child’s strength and help them tame the destructive part of their unique magical gifts. Arthur wants to adopt the kids as well as take on a new child who’s been deemed exceptionally dangerous.
But as Arthur arrives at court, he’s pulled aside in a stopped elevator and warned that the council actually plans on permanently damaging his reputation, which would put his guardianship of his vulnerable kids at high risk.
When the advance excerpt ended with Arthur readying to enter the hearing chambers, I was on the edge of my seat…waiting to find out what happens next! UGH! Need that full advanced read ASAP!!

Thank you to NetGalley for the sneak peek excerpt!
Arthur and Linus have their hands full with 6 magical children to care for. On top of that, Arthur has agreed to speak on behalf of magical beings against the government. After arriving in the city, they are confronted by reporters and counter-protestors who have unjust biases against magical creatures. How will they get through the trial that appears to be set up against them?
This excerpt was great! The first part felt quite cozy with the children and their but surprise, and the second part was intriguing with the aspect of the trial and secrets that come with it! Can’t wait to finish the story when it comes out.

Thanks to NetGalley, Tor Publishing and TJ Klune for the advanced reader excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea. Love of family is most important in this story of orphans and their soon to be adopted family. Arthur and Linus are willing to fight the system to keep these unique children. Each child full of a painful past and a future of hope if Arthur and Linus are successful. Their weapon of choice is their voice of determination and love. The children hope to be noticed and respected by a world that only sees their imperfections. I absolutely loved the first book and went crazy at the thought of reading a continuing story of the energetic, delightful, and adventurous children.
It will seem like an eternity to wait for the September 10th, 2024 release date so I can read the rest of this book. I enjoyed every minute of the excerpt.

Thank you TJ Klune and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this excerpt.
House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite Cozy fantasies, full of emotional depth and found family. I was very happy to be back in this world with Linus and co. I enjoyed the tone and beginning of this story. I am excited to see how the rest of the book unfolds.

OH DEAR.
Wow. TJ Klune has done it again! If you’re worried about a sequel not meeting expectations of The House of Cerulean Sea, DON’T BE! It’s everything we loved about the first novel and so much more!
Somewhere Beyond the Sea has been beautifully written and Klune does a fantastic job reintroducing our favorite magical characters. The story starts out in the past with Arthur returning to the island for the first time since his tragic childhood. He intends on creating a beautiful place for magical children to be loved and given opportunities that he was not as an orphan. Fast forward to present day and Arthur has been summoned to speak of his history with the DICOMY, so he and Linus set out to leave Maryas Island. Once they arrive to the city, they quickly learn that the government has different intentions when inviting Arthur to speak. Arthur and Linus are challenged to fight for their family and work hard to live the lives of they want.
I am thankful for NetGalley for providing me with an ARC excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune. I cannot wait for the final copy to be released on September 10, 2024.

If I could give this one million stars I absolutely would. I LOVE Cerulean Sea and when I heard there was another book, I was simply over the moon. I am so so sad these four chapter are over. I want to re read Cerulean because I need MORE. it has just as magical as the first book. I cried in the second chapter to see how much Linus has changed and acclimated to his new family. I need to know how the hearing goes. I need the rest of the story!!! I cannot wait till the book releases and will preorder it right now. Thank you so much for the chance to read this!!!!

Difficult to rate as this is just an excerpt to the full book, which I was fully aware of when requesting it. I'm glad I was able to read just a portion of this book without committing to the full book because even though The House in the Cerulean Sea is a fan favorite, it was enjoyable for me but I wasn't too enamored with it. Glad I got a chance to just read a portion of the next book. Will always be interested in what TJ Klune puts out in the future.

I was given the opportunity to read an excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune thanks to Netgalley, in exchange for my review.
This is the sequel book to The House in the Cerulean Sea. Although I was only able to read the first 4 chapters, I can tell you how important this book is. These books have messages the world needs to hear. Messages about inclusion, acceptance, generational trauma, and so much more.
The characters created by the author are near and dear to my heart. They have me crying with them, laughing out loud with them, and rooting for them in the same breath.
I cannot wait to see what more is in store for this sequel!
While it’s hard to give 5 stars to a book I haven’t completed, I will most definitely give that for what I’ve read so far.
Publish Date set for September 10,2024

Ah, it’s like coming home. The island, Arthur, Linus and all the kids…I thought I would have forgotten some of them, but it was easy to slip back into their world. The humor and heart are always there, in the subtlest lines and small acts. I can’t wait to read the rest:
