I got an ARC of the first 4 chapters and breezed through them! Loved being back on the island with Arthur and Lunus, as well as all the kids!
I felt right at home as I reacquainted myself with the story and the characters...it truly was like returning home after a long vacation away!
The new storyline is intriguing and has a lot at stake for Arthur, Linus and their magical children...and I'm here for it!
Love, love, love!!!

I'm so excited to have this book in my hands the first few chapters were such an amazing tease! The first book tugged on my heartstrings and I'm sure that this one will be the same. It's sure to be a favorite for the year and I cannot wait.

Wow. I never thought that there would be a sequel to 'House in the Cerulean Sea,' but I'm so, so glad there is. I was worried it would feel like a cash-grab, but instead it feels like homecoming. Getting to see Linus and the kids from Arthur's point of view is such a treat and I cannot WAIT to read the full book. The prologue, where the reader gets glimpses into Arthur's past and his time renovating the House to turn it into a home, almost made me cry. Sometimes, we need to revisit the places where our worst nightmares happened, to remind ourselves that we've grown past those times. Gosh, this excerpt just made me so emotional!

Was a little bummed to see that this was just an excerpt, but I was just so happy to be reunited with Linus, Arthur, and the kids! It was like revisiting an old friend, and I can't wait for the full book as I'm hoping it will be just as magical as the first!

Once I found out this was a four chapter excerpt, I went back and forth if I wanted to read it now knowing it'd be months before the book was released. I am happy I decided to read the chapters, even though now I've got to wait for the rest. The atmosphere and characters of the first book shine through again in this one. It looks like this book will explore Arthur's past more fully.

TJ Klune is an instant buy author of mine! I'm so excited for Somewhere Beyond the Sea to release in full - it's so good so far!!

I didn't know this was going to be just an excerpt... I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea and I'm very very excited for this sequel, but I don't like to read excerpts. I just want it all at once, so I will wait~

Oh how I wish this was the full story!!!!! I ate up every second and every word! I can’t wait until release date!!!!

I didn't think it was possible for me to be more excited about this book, but reading this has made me more impatient than ever. I love this world that Klune has created here. Instantly I felt once again immersed in it and comforted, like holding a warm cup of tea by a fire.

I was excited to receive this excerpt because I love the characters. Looking forward to the whole book in September!

Thanks to NetGalley and Tor for the ARC Excerpt!
As much as I wish this was the whole book, it still did my heart so much good to revisit this world and these characters, brief as it was.
I cannot say enough good things about TJ Klune's writing, especially in The House in the Cerulean Sea and these first few chapters of Somewhere Beyond the Sea. It remind me of a Ghibli movie - finding the elegance and beauty in the every day while blending in the fantastic. It's just....it instantly teleports you somewhere else and even when tensions are high, you instantly feel safe and warm.
I seriously cannot wait for the rest of this book - it's worth checking out the first few chapters!

I want the whole thing. Love these books. TJ Klune is a fantastic author and so original. Really looking forward to this book.

It was an absolute joy to read the first four chapters of the upcoming sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea, Somewhere Beyond the Sea. I loved starting to take the journey back into that house with Linus, Arthur, and the amazing children they foster. The kids are back up to their usual antics in the beginning of the novel; whereas Arthur and Linus are off to London for Arthur to describe the horrendous conditions he went through as a child.
Although I'm extremely grateful for Tor Books for allowing me to read the first four chapters, it was not nearly enough. I really want to continue reading the story NOW. Sadly the book doesn't release until September 10th, so I'll have to wait several months to do so. I know when it arrives I'll gobble it up if this excerpt is any inclination of how my reading will go with the full novel.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea (Excerpt), TJ Klune
Pub date 9/10/24
Book 2 from The House in the Cerulean Sea
🌊🌊🌊 Just like that, I am instantly back in this magical, fantastical world. Where love guides these beautiful people through all that is broken in the world. Klune has another master piece brewing and I can’t wait to see the rest of the journey he has in store for Arthur, Linus, Chauncey, Sal, Lucy, Talia and the rest of the gang. It’s a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ already.

Thank you NetGalley and Tor Publishing for this advance reader copy excerpt for a review. Made my day! #tjklunebooks @torbooks

Eager to read the rest after this four chapter excerpt. I found the first book in a thrift shop a year or so ago, and I've fallen in love with Klune's other writing since. I like returning to this world, though I'll say I have some worldbuilding quibbles especially around the existence of queerphobia/misogyny AND magical persons being implied more heavily here than in the first novel. I think the first novel threads its needle well on a world where real-life history and persons exist, but it remains to be seen if continuing to write in such a world won't put Klune out over his skis. That said! God, I adore how this man writes children. I stand by how children are the weirdest people I know, and he delivers on that feeling without going over the edge into twee or overly "quirky" for its own sake. I think it might be worth asking how researched the anti-queer bias is when it comes to time period this story seems to be taking place in (something like late 70s, early 80s based on the tech and ages of characters), i.e. transgender wasn't the vernacular for folks but usually transsexual or we had people going with just Queer more broadly. It's not massive but it takes me out and makes me question when or where we are in a way the previous book did not.
Anyways! The moment TJ's got a signing for this one, I'll be there! I want to see him succeed at what he's going for with this seaquel!

Loved being able to read an except to Somewhere Beyond the Sea. Going back to Marsyas Island and reading about Arthur, Linus, and all the kids again was amazing. It made me even more excited about reading the book in full.

Absolutely loved the excerpt! It’s been a while since I read the first book, but I quickly remembered why I loved it so much! It was so easy to fall back in love with the characters and to get caught up in their lives! I cannot wait for the full title to be released!

Oh my goddd I cannot WAIT for this book to be out!! Counting down the days! This except was so good and I'm so excited to read the full book.

What a tease! I can’t wait for the full book. Coming back to this family is such a joy. I need to know what happens next!

I read The House in the Cerulean Sea a few months ago, and have been looking forward to reading the sequel when it is released. I was fortunate enough to have been provided with an advanced excerpt from Somewhere Beyond the Sea, and am already loving the book. It has all the same adorable found family moments while covering difficult topics of discrimination. I can’t wait to read the full thing.
