I received a free ARC from NetGalley, and this review is voluntary

One day Adele has the ability to see ghosts, and it changes her life forever. In finding out she comes from a family of mediums, this new ability was initially shunned. Her time would have rather been spent elsewhere, like the library, cozying up with a good book while the snow outside falls from the sky. As each day passes by, Adele shifts her perspective from viewing it as a burden to one of self sacrifice. Getting to know each ghost, and their story. Helping them during this transition, from one life to the next.

It discusses the topic of responsibility, especially in this case with the ability something Adele never asked for. It also mentions the topic of family, and how this ability has been tied to the identity of their cultural fabric. An incredibly heart-warming story.

I enjoyed the concept and the utter love for the library. Overall though I felt like something was missing from the story, can't decide what though. Hope it becomes a series!

A young girl discovers that she has a secret ability: she can see ghosts! Adèle wants to spend her winter break relaxing and cozying up with a good book. BYet she discovers something strange when she begins to see ghosts... she comes from a family of mediums. Now her winter break is filled with new adventures and people as she gets to know the ghosts around her and what she can do to help them! This was a fun winter read and I think it'll be a great one for the winter month for middlegrade readers. The story was interesting and the artwork was nice!
