Not sure what it was, but this book just fell short for me. I was interested in the first few chapters, but it quickly lost me after that and I ended up DNFing

I absolutely loved this sexy, smart and culturally sensitive romance novel! Adam and Evie are such memorable and loveable characters, and I thought the side characters in the matchmaking tour were so cleverly written. I really, really loved this romance, and I cannot wait to handsell it.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A luxurious holiday tour of Vietnam brings polar opposites Evie and Adam together in this stunning summer read.

I adored every second of this book. From their lavish travels in high end, luxury hotels and Vietnamese estates to the surreal natural landscapes of mountains and caverns, Adam & Evie's Matchmaking Tour was enjoyable and engaging to the very last page.

With the magical setting bringing so much to the story, it would be easy for the characters and plot to fall short. However, this is most definitely not the case. Our two main characters, Evie and Adam, have depth and personality beyond their romantic interests. Evie grieves not only her late aunt, but her father and her heritage that she never had the opportunity to explore. Adam buckles from the weight of generations of familial expectations. Both are complex and flawed characters that keep the story grounded amidst the lavish, expensive lifestyles and dreamlike vacations.

An incredible book that always made me hungry whenever I read- the food they ate all sounded so delicious that I had to order Vietnamese takeout, would def recommend doing so while reading this. I can't wait to explore Nora Nguyen's other works!

A huge thank you to Nora Nguyen, Avon and Harper Voyager, and NetGalley for the ARC <3

I enjoyed the first few chapters. Then the story line began to drag. DNF at 32%

Adam is strong-armed into attending the inaugural matchmaking tour of his new company; Evie is strong-armed into attending through a clause in her aunt's will, promising her inheritance after attending. Over the course of the tour they begin to get to know each other and succumb to the inevitable chemistry.

What I loved. The descriptions of Việt Nam and the tour were amazing. I felt transported and was googling descriptions and places along the way. The setting was lush and gorgeous, and I wanted to be there, exploring caves, eating amazing food, and touring palaces.

I liked the delicate handling of Evie exploring her culture and identity. And Evie working through her grief and how much she missed her aunt and dad. This book is very much about family and how we live up to or defy expectations.

I didn't love Adam. He didn't feel as fully developed as Evie - it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine when characters are made workaholics and just conform to family expectations, and that's an excuse why they don't have a personality beyond "brooding" and no hobbies or interests of their own. I also didn't feel like he ever became more developed. Evie has a lovely character arc and comes to understand things about herself, but Adam does what other people tell him to do all the way up until the end.

Otherwise, recommend for fans of the romance genre, who love a beautiful setting, "our lives are too different this will never work" trope, and multicultural/diverse characters.

Thank you to the Publisher for an Advanced Reader Copy of this Book!
My first book written by Nora and I sincerely enjoyed it! While it did take a while to get into the flow of her writing style once I got farther into the book it was hard to put down.

I found both Adam and Evie to be likeable characters. Since the book is told in Dual POV it is interesting to compare how Adam and Evie see themselves verse how other perceive themselves.

While the setting is luxurious and vivid but their love story felt rooted in realism.

Evie has looked up to her Auntie Ho her entire life.
Once Auntie Hao has passed, she leaves Evie her Victorian Row House in San Francisco, under one condition! Evie must go on a matchmaking tour in Vietnam. A captivating story of finding yourself, falling in love, and living bravely.
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I fell in LOVE with these characters, each one coming with their own life lessons and stories. I could really resinate with Adam and Evie and their own personal journeys. The both of them coming together despite it all really made an epic love story!
If you're a travel lover, huge foodie, and love good banter, this is the one for you. I love when a story feels like a movie in your head! Did this book make me want to travel through Vietnam? Yes, yes it did. Did it also make me wish I met my husband on a matchmaking tour? Double yes!!

this one just wasn't for me, but i could see it working well for a different audience! i thought the premise was interesting and the tour was cool, but i can't get with insta-love and had a hard time connecting with/understanding the characters. the author did a great job with writing vietnamese culture and travel.

I unfortunately did not get very far in this book. As someone who works in academia, it was hard for me to pretend away the fact that the FMC is sleeping with the head of her department who has the ability to fire her (and does). The power dynamic and the no-no that is just took me out of the book.

I was very excited to pick up this contemporary romance ever since I heard about it in a Harper Collins Adult Book Buzz. The setting of modern Vietnam is very appealing to me. I had only read historical fiction books about Vietnam that usually focus pre- and during the Vietnam war, but I haven't encountered a lot of post-Vietnam literature. Nguyen takes “the characters from different worlds” trope and weaves it in a romance novel that also works as a loving travelog as Adam and Evie visit various parts of the country. This would make a great armchair reading. The balance of heartwarming romance and serious issues give them romance depth, which make it a great readalike to the super popular Emily Henry. I appreciate that there are no caricatures or exoticism which often taint stories that are set outside of the United States.

Many thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins for an early review copy.

This was a sweet read with a sweet romance and spice. I loved some of the deeper themes, dealing with grief, etc. The setting and the premise were very cute & I loved reading an international setting.

However, third person mixed with insta love left me feeling disconnected from the story.

All-in-all, a cute summer read. This book was just not for me :)

Evie's life direction is up in the air after the death of her beloved aunt, being fired from her job as a professor of poetry, and being offered, by said late aunt, a matchmaking tour in her ancestral home. With no income or inspiration, she is informed that her aunt has left her a house in San Francisco, on the condition that she participates in the matchmaking tour in Vietnam. Elsewhere, Adam is eager to prove himself at his sister's matchmaking company. He, reluctantly, joins the first matchmaking tour. Despite finding Evie chaotic and unpredictable, while she sees him as grumpy and uptight, their chemistry and animosity are undeniable. Can they also discover potential love in such an unexpected place.

This story is charming, emotional, and at times hilarious. Our main characters are intelligent, quick-witted, and sympathetic. You want to root for them individually and you can't help but pull for them to get together. They have an amusing grumpy-sunshine dynamic, dry humor, witty banter, and light-hearted scenes mixed with deeper themes of grief, family, and love. The setting is Vietnam is vibrant and practically a character in and of itself. Some spicy scenes lighten the mood. It's a perfect summer read for any romance enthusiast interested in opposites attract and captivating settings. It'll leave you with a sense of adventure and a belief in unexpected romance.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review.

Nowwww this had me kicking my feet and GIGGLING! I loved this cute little romance set in beautiful and lush Vietnam. The tour setting was so sweet and perfect, and makes this a great summer read. My only complaint is that I wish I got to read this on.a vacation, with a little drink in hand!

Things I loved about this book: tour and description of Vietnam, Adam and Evie, descriptions of Auntie Hao. Things I did not love: Adam’s two dimensional parents, the fact that the characters were named Adam and Evie, and the third act conflict. There is a note near the end with irritating contents in my opinion. I did love the banter between them and the descriptions of the setting made me want to visit for sure. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc.

What an amazing summer read! A perfect blend of character development and travel exploration, I found myself drawn into the characters, Evie, Adam, the supporting cast, and the various Viet Nam locations. I will admit I have a love-hate relationship with travel romances - they always seem like a good idea until I am waist-deep in pages and pages of the travel equivalent of 'name dropping' (locations, food, street intersections, whatever) but I enjoyed this jaunty excursion with Adam and Evie. It was great to know that a HEA was forthcoming at the end, just in case the reader (like me) wonders how they will work it out.
Thanks so much for this refreshing escape!

I absolutely adored the setting and premise of this book! Getting to read about so many places in Việt Nam was the perfect summer energy. I loved the connections with family and friends, and the interactions with side characters cracked me up.

I really enjoyed pieces of Adam and Evie’s romance, but had a hard time believing how fast they fell for each other, and the third person writing made it a bit harder to connect to the story, although I did get used to it by the end.

Overall, the matchmaking tour setting, the discussion of writing and community, and learning more about Việt Nam made this a solid read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon for the eARC!

What a delightful read! This heartwarming journey of a novel expertly blended humor, romance, and adventure in beautiful modern day Việt Nam.

The story follows Adam and Evie, two love averse people, as they embark on a whirlwind matchmaking tour. Nguyen brilliantly captures the pair’s chemistry, banter, and evolving friendship and romance.

Việt Nam was described beautifully, making this the perfect summer read. I also really enjoyed all of the minor characters. They were quirky, funny, authentic, and relatable.

While this book was a light read, it had deeper moments about living up to the expectations of family, loving bravely, and dealing with grief and heartbreak. I highly recommend you pick this one up when it publishes in September!

I needed a vacation and a great love story, and I got it in the form of this book. Adam & Evie’s Matchmaking Tour swept me away to Việt Nam to bear witness to a matchmaking tour that is filled with sexy romance and tension, a fun cast of characters, and the most incredible locations I can’t wait to one day visit. Nora Nguyen gave me all the feels as I rooted on Evie and Adam and their whirlwind romance.

This spicy page-turner will appeal to romance fans who love the grumpy-sunshine trope and enjoy experiencing the world vicariously from the pages of a book. Adam and Evie are opposites in many ways, but as they spend time traveling through Vietnam together on a matchmaking tour, the chemistry between them becomes impossible to ignore. This novel is beautifully written, with a delightful balance of humor and poignant examination of deeper themes: pleasing our family members, coping with unmet expectations, processing grief and loss, fresh starts, and what it means to love bravely.
Highly recommend!
