What we have here in this clever, colorful and cute story as an account of the day when an alpaca shows up in place of the regular librarian. Kind of like in the case of fan favorite, Miss Nelson is Missing by Harry Allard.

So here’s the deal, she’s…
An alpaca who is a librarian.
She is purple.
She gives”great” haircuts
She wears a lot of blue eyeshadow.
And did I mention that she censors books in the library? Oh yes, she only wants books about alpacas on her shelves, no cute pandas or clownfish.

Still, her story times are quite engaging as she shares interesting facts about her species.
The strength of the book is the humor. I think listeners will delight and laugh especially upon learning and SEEING how alpacas relieve themselves on a communal dung pile. Stink! Plop!
Just beware to not maker her angry because alpacas know how to SPIT!

This one is sure to brighten the day and make everyone laugh.

This book was hilarious! The pictures are chaotic and funny and just fun. For some reason the librarian is not in and an Alpaca has moved in, removing all other animal books and making all sorts of noise. The kids wish for their librarian to come back and set things right, but they make do until she returns. This book also has a great cliffhanger that leads on to the next book in the series.

Alpacas Make Terrible Librarians kept my kiddos laughing the entire time we read. We would stop to guess why the alpaca did certain things, like hide books that were abour other animals. The illustrations are so cute and it would make a great bedtime read!

My boys and I had a great time reading Alpacas Make Terrible Librarians. My eldest is in Kindergarten and is learning the rules of the school library, so the silliness that ensues in this book was a fun way to teach him what not to expect. It was also filled with facts about Alpacas, but done in a fun way that was part of the story, so it wasnt odvious we were learning something. The colors and illustrations captivated us all and we sent lots of time exploring the images on each page. You know this is a good book when you finish and your kids scream to read it again!

Alpacas Make Terrible Librarians is a silly, fun, colourful story about an alpaca who fills in for a librarian and causes chaos. This book was not only treat fun to read, but I loved how it showed how important librarians are in our libraries and communities and all the things they do for us that we often overlook. I'm sure many children will have more interest in librarians after reading this story.

This is a fun picture book that children will love to read. My library will definitely be buying this book. I can't wait to see children love it as much as I did!

The book is very well written and it has a great flow to it - there is plenty in the book to make you laugh and smile and my 7 year old daughter absolutely loved it!

We loved the different characters and how they worked together too.

My students know that I love reading and alpacas! This is a fun book to share in my classroom, and one that will be enjoyed over and over again! Alpacas Make Terrible Librarians is a cute and funny picture book about what would happen if an alpaca replaced your librarian for a day. Alpacas may be cute but they lack some of the skills that librarians have. Plus, watch out when the alpaca librarian gets angry! This story by Kiristi Mahoney will make for a good read-aloud and can help spark a conversation about what librarians' work entails. Chantelle and Burgen Thorne have created funny, appealing illustrations to go with the text.

This silly and chaotic story delivers on the promise of such a fun title. Alpacas Make Terrible Librarians, playfully illustrated by brilliant husband-and-wife team Chantelle and Burgen Thorne, does a wonderful job of proving just that. Alpacas are touchy, noisy, and especially intolerant of all books not about alpacas. The confused students try to safely navigate library time, all the while learning more details than they want about alpacas (not the least of which concerns the ‘restroom’). I really enjoyed reading this story to my young grandchildren—they thought it was hilarious. Thank you Net Galley for providing the ARC.

Funny story with wonderfully bright illustrations. I am a fan and can already hear children laughing at the dung pile.

Kristi Mahoney has created a story about kids who discover an alpaca who is a substitute librarian. The silly story is just as funny as the title promises and the bright colorful illustrations by husband wife team Chantelle and Burgen Thorne provide a whimsical pink alpaca who turns the library on end. On the surface, the book is just plain silly. It is great for any storytime. However it is also perfect for Banned book week. The librarian pulls all the books about other animals off of the shelves and suggests books about alpacas instead. This book could launch a discussion about being free to decide what books you wish to read. I love books that take place in a library. That is why I requested an advance copy of this picture book to review. I recommend this book for book lovers of any age.

So fun and full of laughs. This book was so unexpected. When the Alpaca fills in for the librarian you know that silliness is going to happen. What a fun way to teach children,and me, all about Alpacas. We also get to learn about the importance of librarians and everything they do for us. The illustrations are as fun as the story. So bright, colorful and eye-catching. Your family will enjoy this fun little adventure. It’s perfect for home or in the classroom. We really enjoyed this story together and your family will too.

This was a cute read, a bit ridiculous, a lot hilarious. It manages to be about alpacas and libraries at the same time. The illustrations are silly, full of details and cute moments.

Alpacas Make Terrible Librarians is a light=hearted story about what would happen if the regular librarian was replaced with an Alpaca. There are so many funny antics that the alpacas get up to in the story. As I was reading this story to my little humans they laughed at each page. The pictures are brightly coloured and eye catching which really caught the attention of my little humans. They also wondered if maybe there would be a sequel when they got to the last page.... This cute book is silly but also educational. When the children find out their librarian has been replaced by an alpaca, lots of crazy antics occur. The librarian gives out hair cuts, gets rid of non-alpaca books and makes noises. It is hilarious and kids are sure to love the story. I’m sure adults will enjoy reading it too. The illustrations are fun and there are little word bubbles that add to the story as well. I think this would be a fabulous addition to my classroom library and could definitely see myself reading this to my class. This book is a cute picture book about what would happen if the librarian was replaced by an alpaca. I can see children loving the humor in this book. I give the story a 5. Unfortunately, the illustrations didn't work for me. I did like the alpaca and thought it was cute and well drawn. It was the kids that I didn't like. I don't even know what exactly it was about them, they were just hard to look at for some reason. I would give the illustrations a 2. But since I know I am not the target demographic and I think kids will love this book, I will round up to give it a 4 overall.
