Water: Discovering the Precious Resource All Around Us is an informative nonfiction book that delves into the importance of water and its crucial role in our survival. The book provides detailed knowledge about water, its properties, and its significance in various aspects of life.

The book begins with a trivia page, taking us on a journey to explore the fundamental importance of water. It delves into water's various forms, from rain and rivers to clouds, rainbows, oceans, and the deepest depths of the sea. The author presents each form of water as a narrative, making it an engaging read. I like how each page turn is a little surprise. When I reached the section about underground water, I was captivated by the illustrations, which helped me understand the three types of underground water. The facts were easy to grasp and truly mind blowing. The illustrations are what make this book a top-notch read.

If your child is curious and asks a lot of questions about water, then this is a great book to add to your bookshelf. I'm grateful to NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read this book.

I wouldn't want you to think that I'm impulsive, but I ordered a copy to be sent to my Ohio 12 year old even before I finished reading my temporary EARC!
This is a fantastic study, reference, and absolutely impressively illustrated study of the characteristics, need for, and locations of all the impressive sources of water here on earth. I have run out of words to tell how much I love this beautiful and instructive book! Many thanks to Lena Traer for translating the words from Russian to English and to Olga Fadeeva for her talents as writer/illustrator.
Not sure if this is suited to ESL, and the reading level, while listed as 8-14 goes successfully to 108.
However, I feel that it is great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, hospital, or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company via NetGalley. Thank you!

Water: Discovering the Precious Resource All Around Us is a gorgeously illustrated book about water in all forms—from rain and rivers to clouds and the deepest oceans. It is packed with valuable information and is a perfect learning tool for children of all ages. The language used is plain and easy to understand and does a great job in simplifying complex information so that children can easily understand it. The translation from Russian to English is seamless.

I cannot get over how stunning the illustrations are. A simple wave that covers the two-page spread is as interesting as an ocean scene depicting its marine inhabitants. Several characters appear throughout the book, giving the storytelling a more personal touch. The collage and mixed media approach give illustrations depth and a a feel that the book is created for and with children. I love that the author even mentions how much water was spent to apply acrylic pains when illustrating this book—amazing!

This is such a wonderful, educational book about water for children. I learned a lot, though, and it was a lot of fun. There are a lot of facts and trivia, but presented in a clear way with bright pictures. So much fun trivia! For instance: fish that can swim 60 mph, 3 million sunken ships in the world, the different kinds of barriers to seas -- this book made me want to go out and see everything for myself. The final parts of the book talk about how important water is, and with the credits, we learn that about 10 liters of water were used to help make the paintings for the book.
Thanks so much to NetGalley for letting me read this.

"Water" by Olga Fadeeva is a non-fiction picture book for children all about water! I really enjoyed the beautiful colors in the illustrations throughout the book. While the information is fantastic and covers all topics from the clouds to ground water, I thought the book's text was too heavy for children-- the illustrations didn't match the reading level of text in my opinion. I would recommend this book to young reader's who have knowledge in science or fascination with water as a topic. I would have enjoyed more detailed illustrations of systems to help pass knowledge to the reader. BUT I can see a child being entranced by the pictures and prompting them to want to read the text.

A great educational picture book but perhaps for a smaller group of readers. It is a book I will definitely bookmark in my brain for the right customer.
