Any fans of Nichols Sparks will love his upcoming release! Nichols Sparks writes a love story like no other! As in most of his stories, there are two seemingly separate story arcs that eventually intersect, and in a big way. This book is full of regret, heart break, heart-wrenching sadness, but also full of hope, finding that right someone, a child's unconditional love, and a dog who proves his loyalty.
I already had the tissues out before the end of the first chapter! Even though the tropes in this book have been written over and over again by many authors, the events his characters go through and the words he uses to convey those events hit me right down to my soul.
“I don’t believe miracles happen to folks like us,” Jasper finally forced out with a touch of teenage defiance. “Not real miracles, anyway.”
Thank you Nicholas Sparks and NetGalley for this ARC. The above is my own and personal opinion.

Thank you so much Nicholas Sparks, Penguin Random House Canada & Netgalley.
I was beyond excited to be chosen to read Nicholas Sparks’ new novel. Anyone who knows me knows how deeply I’ve been connected to his work—I grew up reading all his books and watching every movie adaptation. Nicholas Sparks has always been one of my all-time favorite authors. A Walk to Remember holds a special place in my heart; I’ve lost count of how many times I read it in high school, and it remains one of my favorite movies to this day.
Counting Miracles is another beautiful addition to his collection. The story weaves together the lives of three characters—Jasper, Tanner, and Kaitlyn—whose connections unfold in surprising ways. You’ll have to read it to discover the full extent of those connections! Each character, including Kaitlyn’s children, is written with such depth and emotion that their stories become both beautiful and heartbreaking.
Jasper’s story, in particular, broke me. The way he lost his entire family is so tragically portrayed that I’m still haunted by it. To be honest, I found myself more invested in his journey than in the budding romance between Tanner and Kaitlyn. One of the things I’ve always loved about Nicholas Sparks is how he often sets his stories in small towns in North Carolina. His descriptions are so vivid that you’re instantly transported there, feeling the beauty of the setting as if you were right in the middle of it. He writes with such heart that you feel every bit of his characters’ pain and joy as if they were your own.
In my eyes, Nicholas Sparks can do no wrong. His talent for crafting emotional, heartfelt stories continues to leave me in awe.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.
Expected publication date: Sept. 24, 2024
Tanner Hughes has always been a bit of a wanderer. After a childhood of being raised by his loving grandparents, Tanner joined the military and has been jumping from job to job, avoiding setting down roots. When his grandmother dies, leaving Tanner with the name of the biological father he never knew, Tanner ends up in Asheboro, searching for the man who might be his only remaining family. Instead, he meets Kaitlyn, a doctor and single mother, and sparks fly. However, Tanner has taken another job in Africa and will be leaving soon, but both of them fall hard and now, Tanner has a decision to make. Meanwhile, Jasper is eighty-three years old, living in a secluded cabin after a tragic accident took the life of his entire family. Alone, with only his neighbours’ son for company, he seeks the elusive white deer, after rumours spread that one was spotted in the forest near his home. When all their paths cross, decisions are made, love is found and, most of all, family is discovered.
The acclaimed, well-known author of “The Notebook” and “The Longest Ride” (among many others), Nicholas Sparks, is about to release his novel, “Counting Miracles”, into the world and I was beyond blessed to receive an ARC.
A longtime fan of Sparks, I expected cutesy romance and emotional heartstring tugging, and he did not disappoint. Jasper, Kaitlyn and Tanner all take their turn at narrating, and each of them are likable, with different backgrounds that manage to connect them in powerful ways. As this is a Sparks novel, the ending is expected and predictable, but it sure is one heck of a journey getting there.
Jasper is a religious man, who turns to the Bible and God in times of grief (for which he has had many), so there are Bible quotes and other Christian anecdotes in the novel (Jasper’s story is apparently similar to Job’s), but that comes with the territory when you read a story that takes place in the South.
“Miracles” is a beautifully written tale of grief, hope and family, and Sparks has delivered another stunner. There is no slowing down for this author, who has written many books (of which I have read, and own, most of) some of which have been turned into big screen successes, and even one that has recently found a home on the Broadway stage. I will continue to support Sparks in everything he creates, and “Miracles” is yet another Sparks novel worth talking about.

Counting Miracles is about expecting the unexpected, family, faith and love. Seeing a white deer is spiritual and it is believed in seeing one, it is an omen of good fortune. Jasper, an old man who lost everything years before in a fire, and he firmly believed this. Jasper decided he needed to protect this deer from poachers, two that lived in town.
Tanner, is an army vet, who is looking for his birth father. After his grandmother died, he had found papers with his birth father's name and were he lived. His mother had died when he was born, and he wanted to know if his father is still alive.
Kaitlyn is a doctor in the town were Jasper lives and Tanner went to looking for his family.
Tanner and Kaitlyn meet through her daughter, who crashes into Tanner's car, while her daughter is driving.
So begins their story. Each has a pivotal role.
I have enjoyed other books by Nicholas Sparks,
but unfortunately this was not one of my favourites. I think it was just too sappy for me, or maybe I have become jaded. I found Jasper's story the most interesting, but it took too long to tell it.
So thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ahead of time. I give this 3 out of 5.

As a longtime fan of Nicholas Sparks, I dove into "Counting Miracles" with high expectations—and I'm thrilled to say it did not disappoint! Sparks once again proves why he's a master at weaving emotional, heartfelt stories that tug at your heartstrings and keep you turning pages.
What I loved most about this book is how all the characters’ lives intersect in such unexpected ways. It's a beautiful reminder that we’re all connected, often in ways we don’t realize. The themes of finding home, the power of forgiveness, and the magic of second chances are classic Sparks and beautifully executed. It's rare for a book to bring me to tears, but this one definitely did.

This was a beautifully written book about finding yourself. I'm ashamed to admit i've never read a Nicholas sparks book before, i know, shocking. But i'm glad this was the first one I read of his. It was touching and very heartfelt. I understand why he's such a well loved author.

Counting Miracles is a beautifully written and heart wrenching story of finding yourself regardless of your age or stage of life.
Tanner Hughes was raised by his grandparents and moved around the world as an army brat. When he was of age, he followed his grandpa’s footsteps and joined the army; he spent years on deployment. Now retired, he takes security jobs to stay busy; after a few months off spending time with and taking care of his ailing grandma, he didn’t expect his world to alter in multiple ways. Before she passed away, she gave him the name of his father and a city he may be found. He makes his way to Asheboro, North Carolina to investigate where he meets single mother and town doctor, Kaitlyn Cooper. The two gravitate towards each other even though he only has a few more weeks before he leaves for the next job.
One of Kaitlyn’s patients, Jasper is 83 years old and lives alone with his dog, Arlo in a cabin that backs the national forest. When he hears there's a white deer spotted in the forest, he makes it his mission to save the deer from poachers.
As the character’s stories intertwine with Spark’s signature writing, a beautiful tale is woven. It’s heartbreaking, joyful, romantic, dramatic, and anxiety-inducing within its 360 pages. I laughed, I smiled, and I sobbed. I loved the multiple POVs between the three main characters, it helped everything make sense as the story ended and tied up the loose ends. The characters were flawed yet charming and lovable.
I can remember being 15/16 and picking up my first Spark’s novel, I instantly fell in love with his writing style and how vivid the stories and characters are.
I was so stoked to receive this ARC from Penguin Random House Canada and Netgalley.

This was a good book but definitely not my favourite book by Nicholas Sparks. His books always have heart ache before you get to a happily ever after. Although I knew where this was going from the beginning, it was still a beautiful journey to get there.

Another very nice story by this author. Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy.
Tanner is a former soldier looking for his birth father in Asheboro, North Carolina. He meets a single mother of two and they are instantly attracted to each other. Kaitlin is a hard working doctor. One of their neighbours is a scarred man named Jasper with a tragic past. The story comes together within a couple of weeks which changes all their lives.

4.5 stars!
Like many others, I am a sucker for anything Nicholas Sparks. Counting Miracles did not disappoint. I found it very easy to like and relate to the characters. I just love his writing, the movie in my head always flows seamlessly.
Thank you Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for the ARC!

This is one of those stories that takes you on a massive familial journey. There is so much heartbreak, family feuds, and yet so much hope. Sparks has written a story that many families can relate to and generally expresses the social interconnectedness of family. It takes you on an emotional journey that's hard to express because, in the end, you feel like you've been deflated, in a good way, like all of the pent-up tension and anxiety and stress has just drained away, and you are left with nothing but happiness.
That you NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for a copy of this book!

(4.5 Stars)
Where do I even begin.
First off, thank you to Penguin Random House Canada, and Nicholas Sparks for the opportunity to read the e-arc of Counting Miracles in exchange for an honest review! As always, it is very much appreciated.
From Sparks' entire collection of books I have only read a few, but when I saw that this new one was coming out - I was immediately intrigued by the description. While being an emotional rollercoaster, this book had me hooked right from the moment I picked it up - to the moment I put it down. Sparks has the ability to make any book feel like you are watching a movie - and then to boot there's probably a movie about it that makes you just relive all the beauty over again.
This is a story about staying true to yourself, while persevering through loss, finding true happiness. Each character introduced in this book, is introduced with a purpose. And seeing how all of their individual loves seem to weave into one another truly showcases the magic of Nicholas Sparks' writing. Not too many books have me in literal tears - but this one got the job done.
I am happy and excited to share this book with friends, and family alike.
Thank you again for the opportunity to read the arc of this book!

This book was amazing I rated it 5 stars but would give it more if I could. I absolutely loved the immersive writing style along with the characters. This book really left me feeling emotional which is exactly what I look for in a good book. The two interwoven subplots were done immaculately I will recommend this book (and have) to everyone looking for their next read!

Nicholas Sparks has an exceptional talent for creating characters that you fall in love with and care about what happens to them.
No one has the storytelling magic like Sparks does.
𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 is another beautiful story that I hope will be made into a movie. It's about holding on to faith even in the darkest of moments, overcoming grief, finding redemption, and found family. It's different from his usual work, but I loved it all the same.
The characters were wonderfully developed and complex. Sparks has this way of making his characters feel real with their flaws and strengths, and you can’t help but root for them.
The romance in this one seemed to take a back burner, but that didn't take anything away from the enjoyment of the book.
For me, Jasper and his little dog Arlo were the stars of the story. His story was incredibly heart-wrenching. I loved how he would recount his father reading passages from the Bible and would apply them to events in his life. These verses and quotes are an important part of Jasper's upbringing.
I also loved the symbolism of the white deer to Jasper, and the revelation at the end brought tears to my eyes.
I really enjoyed this book, and I hope you will too.

This is a story of love, loss, family, trials and tribulations and overcoming grief.. the last 5-10% will make your heart hurt and be overly happy at the same time!

Nicholas Sparks' latest novel, Counting Miracles, delivers exactly what his readers have come to expect—an emotional journey centered around love, loss, and redemption. The novel introduces us to a cast of well-developed characters. While the pacing was a tad slow, Sparks has a way of making his characters feel real, with their flaws and strengths on full display. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

If Nicholas Sparks writes something, I’ll read it, and his latest, Counting Miracles, is exactly the sort of story I’ve come to expect from him. There’s romance, there’s tragedy, and there are characters that you can relate to and care about without too much effort. I appreciate the fact that all I had to do to get pulled into this story was start reading.
While the two love interests were likeable enough, and I appreciated Kaitlyn’s self-assurance and Tanner’s journey of self-discovery, it was another character, an older gentleman named Jasper, whose story really captured my interest. And his dog—-his dog was my favourite! The revelations near the end of the book, though not unpredictable, brought tears to my eyes, and I loved the symbolism of the white deer. A beautiful story about the strength of the human spirit and rediscovering your faith even after you think it’s long gone.
Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and Netgalley for this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I have never really read any of Nicholas Sparks' books in the past only ever watching movie adaptations of his various books. However, I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to read his latest book.
I loved this story from beginning to end. I love books where people's lives are intertwined and this was no exception.
There are 3 main characters in this book. Tanner, who is searching for a family member he never knew, as well unbeknownst to him, his place in life. Kaitlyn, a single mother with two children who doesn't realize that there is something missing in her life. And lastly, Jasper a recluse old man who gained and lost everything but still manages to carry on. While their connections in life were all pretty predictable, the story of how they came together brought tears to my eyes.
This book had a lot of biblical references and quotes. While some people may not like the book just for that reason, I thought it was necessary as that was crucial to Jasper's identity since it was a formidable part of his upbringing, life and faith.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Counting Miracles follows two main characters through their journey to find something. Tanner is searching to find his father, whom he never met before and Jasper is looking for a rare deer found in the forest nearby. While I adored Tanner’s story, I found myself wanting to skip over the chapters on Jasper. There were parts of this I enjoyed, but it did not seem like the usual book you would read by this author.

This book was a lovely read but the formatting really got to me. It was hard to follow. I understand it’s in draft but, I am a stickler for formatting with books
