I loved Nicholas Sparks books when I was younger, but I feel like I have grown out of him as an author.

This book was good, not great but good. The character dynamics was good, the romance was blah, not the best. The connections were ok.

I had a hard time moving past the religious component of this book, I don't mind a sprinkle of religion here and there but this felt like too much.

I preferred Jasper's story over Kaitlyn and Tanners, I just couldn't connect with them as a couple. But the ending was good, I felt those emotions in my soul.

Despite my reputation for being critical of book endings, I felt this novel's resolution worked well. It did a great job of tying all the pieces of the storyline together. However, I had a difficult time getting into the first half of the narrative. The pace was quite slow, with unnecessary words, phrases, and details. I believe it would benefit significantly from additional editing.

My sincere thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy and allowing me to share my honest review.

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks is currently set to be published on September 24, 2024.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks.

I just finished “The Wish” and I was super excited to read the newest Nicholas Sparks book, as he is one of my favourite authors. This book has two concurrent storylines, one following Tanner, an ex-military man, and Kaitlyn, a physician and single mom; the other following Jasper, an older man living in the woods nearby.

I finished the book, however it didn’t grab me like Nicholas Sparks’ older novels. I knew that the two storylines would have to connect at some point, but felt that Jasper's story was very long and drawn out. I kept reading to find out what happened to Jasper’s family in the past, however in the end I felt it didn’t really matter to the main story. As other reviewers have mentioned, there was a lot of biblical references, which didn’t bother me but I also didn’t expect them. Overall I found it to be a forgettable story, and I am unlikely to recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.
I have read a few Nicholas Spark books and always enjoy them. I found this book to be fairly predictable but still an enjoyable read.

What a heart breaking drama that has a potential to be a Happily Ever After - Still savoring the journey.

Tanner Hughes was raised by his mother's parents. His mother died giving birth to him and his father is unknown. Tanner is an adventurer whose military training has him wandering the globe. His grandmother's last request is that Tanner find his father, David who doesn't know Tanner existed.
Kaitlyn Cooper is divorced raising a teenage daughter and a preteen son while running an old fashioned medical practice in Asheboro, North Carolina. Kaitlyn's patient, Jasper, befriends her children. Jasper's life story is tragic yet he leans on his Bible to make the best of life. When Kaitlyn meets Tanner and Tanner meets Jasper everyone's life becomes intertwined in unexpected ways.

This novel flows so smoothly and tackles a lot of tough situations. Definitely a Nicholas Sparks creation that I look forward to seeing on a screen soon.

When Nicholas Sparks writes a novel, and I get a chance to read it, I brace myself for tears, sometimes for joy and sometimes for sorrow.

COUNTING MIRACLES did not disappoint me. Three stories that start out singular, but come together is a quick summation of this novel. A divorced woman raising her two children, a lonely older man alone with his dog and a retired soldier who is searching for a part of his life he never knew he was missing.

Not on sale until September 24th, it gives you time to get your emotions in check. Thank you to Random House for allowing me the pleasure of ready COUNTING MIRACLES early on Net Galley.

First I can’t believe I’m getting to review a Nicholas Sparks book. I have been reading his books since I was in my late teens and been loving every minute of it!

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and I fell in love with Japers story. A Recluse older man that was grieving his life and the things that happened in it. Then he meet Dr Cooper and her family.

Tanner and Kaitlyn story were just as compelling. Their chemistry was written beautifully. I would love to just have a book on them too.

The only thing I wasn’t the biggest fan of was all the Bible verses. I’m happy to have a few, but there was a lot and I don’t remember Nicholas Sparks books having that many.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Kaitlyn and her story, I loved following Jasper and learning more about his past. I loved how much Casey cared for her mom despite being a typical teenager, you can tell she truly looks up to the strength her mom has. It was a great, easy read. Nicholas Sparks has always been one of my favourites and it was like I was back in time as a teenager enjoying another one of his stories.

Traditional Format (Digital). Counting Miracles, the newest from best selling author Nicholas Sparks, tells the story of Tanner (an Army Ranger raised by his grandparents who is seeking out his birth father) and Jasper (an 83 year old man who has experienced unbelievable tragedy in his life). The two characters path cross and their stories come together.

What I liked:
- The setting (North Carolina and the forest wilderness). I am always a fan of book set in the outdoors/wilderness
- I liked how the backstory of the characters was woven into the present day as flashbacks to further develop the plot and character development
- The message of family was beautiful and one moment of symbolism at the end (that I don't want to spoil) was incredible wrap up to the story
- Character development was well done. I even disliked a few of the characters which shows the great writing

What I didn't like:
- I have read Nicholas Sparks books before and I don't remember so many bible quotes. I found them a little too much at points in the book. I am Christian but the quotes were just over the top in a few places and it took away from the chapters for me personally
- The plot was 100% predictable - but it didn't necessarily take away from the story for me
- The book was a little longer than it needed to be for me and dragged a little. The same message and feelings could have been done in 50 pages less IMO.

Overall this was an enjoyable read with a nice story. I will give this one a 4/5.

Terribly disappointed in this one. Preachy,(I mean that literally, the Bible and various verses are mentioned so often the book would be at least 25% shorter without them.) The entire story takes place over about a week and we have *instant love *weird religious ponderings abiut an albino deer *poaching *miracle pets *fish falling from the sky (tbf that's a story from another generation but still...) *mother daughter drama and reconciliation *a suprise twist that would come as zero suprise to any reader *"the rich family that can do no wrong" *real estate wonders and more. It felt like the plot was a bunch of weird ideas put into an AI generator, filled out with some Bible verses and published. I've loved several NS books but this was just so, so poorly written. 2/5 because it feels bad to give a burned widower that had his entire family die and lost his fortune only to fall and nearly die alone in the woods just one. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

this was my first Nicholas Sparks book, and it did not disappoint.. the flow was amazing, not too fast that it felt like a whirlwind relationship, but also not slowblurn.

I have read a few of Mr. Sparks books but this one is my favorite so far. The story line was intriguing. This is a well written tale that intertwines the lives of Dr. Cooper, her kids, Tanner and Jasper. It kept me reading well into the night. It is. I love the way he used the Bible verses as Jasper remembered his father and himself with his family. Great story and well worth the read!

Another great book by Mr. Sparks, although I felt like there was a very christian side to this with the one character quoting scripture.
